We’re in the home stretch ladies, we've had the first baby, how many more threads can we manage before the last baby is here?

Hah, cross post RL, it would appear leggings are the way forward Grin

skyra13 · 11/03/2015 10:29

Leggings are the way forward ladies :) H&M 7.99 a pair cant go wrong!! Over the bump I love then :D

ChickenMe · 11/03/2015 10:36

Yep Ive got the H&M leggings too and they seem to stay up. My H&M mat jeans are starting to get a bit tight. They were really nice though and I'm keeping them for afterwards.
I find epidurals a dilemma. Im crap with pain and I had awful period pains when I was younger. I also hate internals (agony) and have a relatively small pelvis (no childbearing hips here) But the not being able to walk around bit annoys me, plus risk of forceps. Thing is I feel like unless you ask for one right off you might not get one as that has happened to my friends-either they try to put you off or the anaesthetist has buggered off somewhere...

kismac · 11/03/2015 10:45

Good luck with your injections, Penguin and the rescan Misty!

I'm sleeping on my left but sometimes end up on my front/back and basically all over the place. Im very wriggly.

I love my H&M leggings. I live in them. I did get some maternity work trousers but I thought I looked hideously fat in them. I also love my over the bump pants. They are so comfy.

Got window man in fitting the last window and then we can finally start to get the house in order. Yay!

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 11/03/2015 10:54

leggings! I'm wearing cheapo sainsbury's non-matternity ones, those or "harem pants" from amazon (fit over the bump and are soo comfy!)

I do have 2 pairs of H&M maternity leggings too but they aren't that much more comfy than the sainsbo's cheap ones.

smogs I'm quite definitely monogamous LOL!

according to my friend, my bump has dropped overnight. (And she's had 6 so if anyone's going to know about these things, she will!)
I'm waddling a lot, I know that.

minipie · 11/03/2015 10:56

Morning all! Finally got a good night's sleep last night, DD slept through for once and I only had to wee once.

I am living in some maternity cords from Jojomaman - I have two pairs of maternity jeans but one falls down (under bump) and the other ones are ridiculously short (borrowed from shorter friend). I don't DO leggings due to my fat legs!

Funny all your comments about OBEM. I had the same conversation with DH - OBEM makes epidurals look awesome but they never mention the higher risk of interventions. I will try to manage without if I go naturally (just had G&A last time), but if induced I'm not sure.

I am sleeping on my left side 90% of the time. I'm a side sleeper anyway and for some reason if I lie on my right I get a nasty stabbing pain in my lower left ribs. So on the plus side that forces me to stay in the "best" position!

Last proper day of work today and people are expecting me to do ACTUAL WORK Shock really can't be arsed...

BananaToast · 11/03/2015 11:13

I seem to be the only one loving my maternity jeans - got some over the bump ones from H&M and have been living in them since about 20 weeks. They're so comfy, I'm dreading going back to normal ones with a button that actually does up.

RiverRocks I assumed there was little they could actually do for it - the GP suggested doing some squats and lateral leg raises to help but that just sounds painful! I've not got SPD, it feels more like I've fallen over on my bum hard - just on the right side though. I'm far from needing crutches but getting fed up now that despite not having a huge bump I'm finding walking increasingly awkward.

minipie how dare they expect you to work!? Grin Enjoy your last day - I've still got three weeks to go! Completely over it now. Moan moan moan...

34+2

Siarie · 11/03/2015 11:25

All this time I thought she was lying transverse and I think she's in the LOA position! Which is the most optimal for labour. I kept thinking what is this lump in my ribs (it's her bum) and why am I'm being kicked to the right side now?

April 2015 Thread 13: The babies are creeping in one by one and the gardens really need seeing to!
kismac · 11/03/2015 11:32

Oh that's exactly how baby is lying for me. Keep getting pressure in my pelvis. Baby is trying to escape!

minipie · 11/03/2015 11:40

Just had a look at that spinning babies website, can't figure out how mine is lying though.

Head is definitely down (has been at each check up, and hiccups are down there too) but the rest is a mystery. I have a lump to the top left of my bump, and a firm bit down the right middle of my bump. I had thought the top left bump was feet and the right middle was back (so ROA position?) but then what are all the bloody uncomfortable movements I'm getting down in my pelvis??

RL20 · 11/03/2015 11:40

Just been for my 34 week midwife app. They think he's measuring about 30-31?! Sad So I've got a growth scan on Tuesday afternoon.
I'm trying not to worry because in reality, it's just a tape measure they're using. And 2 weeks ago when I went to the hospital for reduced movements, I had a scan there and everything was normal and he was measuring just fine. I can understand babies can stop growing, but surely he hasn't shrank by a weeks measurement!?
Tuesday seems like forever away Sad

skyra13 · 11/03/2015 11:59

RL Try not to worry sweet half the time they get the measurements wrong my friend (she was tiny) kept getting told her baby was small bumo was small baby came out 9pounds!! That is not small so now she ignores them she is on her 2nd pregnancy.

Seems to me its a guessing game half the time!

FiRaffe · 11/03/2015 11:59

Hope all is on RL and it is just a tape measure issue.

I'm not in the mood or frame of mind to work today and i've got 3 weeks left....can't believe they actually expect me to do things of any worth.... at least it's Year End on my last week so that'll keep me busy!

solstice930 · 11/03/2015 11:59

Good morning everyone (nearly afternoon). I'm meant to finishing up my last week of work but my daughter came home early yesterday with the chicken pox. It's been around at her nursery, so I'm glad she's getting them out of the way before the baby comes. But it is a nuisance when I need to finish my handover, etc! My last day is Tuesday. I'll be 37+1, with a 2 hour commute into London! Yesterday nearly killed me, so I'll be taking it very easy next week, with my maternity notes in my bag! Normally I work from home, so I can't really complain about my one day a week commute Grin

I enjoyed OBEM last night, nothing too scary! I used to love watching it when I was pregnant last time, but after my forceps delivery, I found it too traumatic to watch for a good 6 months afterwards. I finally feel brave enough to watch it again. I probably won't get in too many episodes before this one arrives!

Now that I'm 36 weeks, it's time to get serious about this hospital bag. Most everything else is sorted, crib's up, we have our moses basket, car seat, bouncy chair, lots of clothes, etc.

Sorry to hear sleeping is getting tough for everyone. It's definitely getting worse for me this month, although I'm only up 1-2 times for a wee (it was at least 4-5 last time at this stage!) I make a point not to drink anything after 8.30 if I can avoid it. That seems to help.

skyra13 · 11/03/2015 12:04

Seriously ladies I need to see pics of your bags for hospital I feel mine is to huge!! Grin

RL20 · 11/03/2015 12:07

Thanks skyra and firaffe. Hoping it is just a tape measure thing, as he's been measuring fine throughout so far, and they did say it could be the way he's laying. But Tuesday seems like ages away. That day is going to go so slow too, the health visitor is coming out for the first time to see me in the morning at 10am, and then was meant to be having my third antenatal class at 2pm - 3.30pm and then the scan has been booked for 4.15pm. So will give the antenatal class a miss as I want to get to the hospital at a reasonable time and don't want to rush around.

solstice930 · 11/03/2015 12:07

Skyra it's empty now!

I'm doing a separate one for the baby. That has nappies and wipes in it at the moment Smile

Siarie · 11/03/2015 12:09

skyra mines a big bag, I'm also taking babies changing bag but hoping to get everything else in this.

April 2015 Thread 13: The babies are creeping in one by one and the gardens really need seeing to!
kismac · 11/03/2015 12:10

RL, try and stay calm. Hopefully everything is ok. Try and do something nice to take your mind off of it.

skyra13 · 11/03/2015 12:15

I am going to go through mine again!! and re pack it lol
solsticeI am using my changing bag for baby but no room for cloths in it!!
So baby cloths going in big bag with mine and spare t-shirt and pants for DH Smile

RL I have got to go consultant on Tuesday at the hospital so we will both be there! I will be awaiting my final verdict on if I am aloud to use birth centre! I'm booked in at 3.30!

FiRaffe · 11/03/2015 12:16

My hospital bag isn't worth showing off either....still empty until the nursery is done! (Hopefully after this weekend)

smogsville · 11/03/2015 12:21

Have just had a catch up and a lie down for a full half an hour before going to fetch DD from nursery. Could happily fall fast asleep here on the kitchen bench.

Have realised it's v gd that we will be doing our school run on foot. Took DD to nursery in the car this morning so I could go straight to b&q (the glamour!), boots and waitrose afterwards and it made a sad noise when I tried to mount a pavement to park in front of someone's drive. DD was quite alarmed - sharp intake of breath and 'poor Penelope!' (yes car has a name). I'm defo one of those people who shouldn't have passed first time.

That said, I have now got newborn nappies, a new changing mat, some sanitary pads to wear after baby born and a new thermometer to replace the one DD broke by pulling the stick out ear piece out. And from waitrose hundreds of different cans of beans and chopped tomatoes and then almost every vegetable under the sun from the market so I'm 100pc ready for a massive cook off tomorrow when DD will be at nursery 9-3.

I always start off sleeping on my right. I just can't on my left . Often wake up on back though. Why is it bad to be on right? I did with DD too and she doesn't seem to be flatter on one side than the other Blush

Yes good luck Penguin and Misty and do make that call FiRaffe.

I didn't doubt it Ebwy!

Minipie - appalled that you're expected to do actual work on your last day. Although I'm sure I will be too bc of stupid clients not coming back to me in time in spite of many warnings. So boring to have to hand over tiny tasks.

RL - agree with what others are saying about the measurements being guesswork at best. Try not to be too anxious.

skyra my bag is just a weekend bag holdall style thing and a pillow. But I'm having a section and hoping for just one night in hospital so basically winging it a bit.

skyra13 · 11/03/2015 12:22

SiarieYour bag is lovely hear is mine I may change the changing bag as my free one from Vertbaudet has just arrived!

Pic of my bags!

RL20 · 11/03/2015 12:31

Thanks everyone. Good luck to you too then Skyra! Birthing Centres were in conversation yesterday at the antenatal class. The one nearest to me sounds lovely. I say near but it's actually in the next small town so not helpful for me if I was to go there and then need hospital assistance during birth etc as it's just not close enough really.

skyra13 · 11/03/2015 12:37

Birth centre for me is closer then hospital and I don't want an epidural and that's the only thing they won't do a birth centre so unless I have problems I will be moved to hospital.

I want a water birth DH thinks it is because we don't have a bath that's why I want it lol!
