Rusty I hope things move along for you today.

Re the Facebook page it is a private group so no one that is not in the group can see posts.

I hope you have given DH list of all the things you want :D

Faithope · 07/03/2015 09:08

Blimey this thread does move fast doesn't it!!

I will email my Fb email when on laptop as iPad is making it a mission lol

I am team cream. Can't wait to find out what I am having.

Got my gym ball blown up ready to get bouncing this baby out!!

Regarding HV-I had my pointless visit on Thursday. Pointless because I have already met them as I have a 15 month old (today) and she told me nothing I diidnt already know lol

Faithope · 07/03/2015 09:09

Gro egg-just plug it in, job done :)

AnniaFausta · 07/03/2015 09:16

Rusty, all good thoughts to you!!

RL, I have a loooong shopping list... most of which will be dispatched today via internet shopping, with any luck. In case it's useful, Mothercare have a sample one here:

www.mothercare.com/on/demandware.static/Sites-Site/Sites-MCENGB-Library/default/v1384996278608/pdfs/baby-checklist.pdf [note PDF link]

Of course, some of it is very personal and you won't want to get now/at any point, but I found it was useful for double-checking if we had the basics.

FizzyBubbly · 07/03/2015 09:17

Morning all, just marking my place as I don't think I've posted on the last 3 threads or so, whoops! Hope I haven't missed too much.

Oooh Rusty how exciting, I hope things progress nicely for you! That's got me panicking that we are still nowhere near prepared, eeek!

33+2

skyra13 · 07/03/2015 09:36

I don't have any sheets at all lol glad I looked at the list now!

RiverRocks · 07/03/2015 09:41

Fingers crossed everything goes well Rusty. I'm really excited, this will be my first live birth following!

If your DH gets chance, there's a sale on at Babies R Us; Graco travel system with car seat is £175 here. Think they're quite well thought of.

Also spotted this which would be a must-have Grin

RiverRocks · 07/03/2015 09:47

Skyra I never even thought about sheets until my mum asked if I needed spares/mattress protector. Luckily people had been asking what to get for my baby shower so that solved that problem. I wasn't keen on the idea at first, seemed a bit 'grabby', but everyone else was excited and now it's this afternoon I'm really looking forward to it! Of course, that could just be because there will be cake Blush

Rustyzilla · 07/03/2015 09:52

Good to know re gro egg and Facebook! Thanks Smile

skyra13 · 07/03/2015 09:53

River The car wrap is so cute may have to get one!!

Hope your baby shower goes well, I'm not having one but 2 really good friends are coming after the birth as they live up north so will get some bits then :D

Been lucky as my dad is an ebay king so finds bits for me I've got alot of bits in the toddler and baby sales via different supermarkets and In laws got us our travel system so working out quiet well.

I said to DH today we pretty much got everything you watch madam be 3 weeks late coming out lol

Rustyzilla · 07/03/2015 09:56

Stupid phone hadn't refreshed! That bed wrap looks great! We liked the Graco but have heard some bad things re car seat especial for tiny babies, which I guess I may now have!

I had a baby shower last week, we got so much stuff! Baby has loads of clothes!

skyra13 · 07/03/2015 10:03

Advice on car seats is try and get one that has a newborn insert as its good for protecting babies head more.

www.britax.co.uk/car-seats/car-seats/baby-safe-sleeper This is meant to be good for premie babies something to look into maybe.

I have the britax baby safe car seat and they are meant to be some of the safest around. The isofix base brand new is only around 70 pound to much cheaper then others.

RiverRocks · 07/03/2015 10:06

We've been really lucky with clothes - my cousin had a little boy in September, so everything he grows out of she passes on to us. And she had a friend with a baby 6 months older who gave her things, so we're even getting seasonally appropriate clothes! Will save us a fortune. I keep joking he'll be like a rock star - never wear the same thing twice!
My dad keeps muttering about him wearing second hand and all the bargains I keep getting, but we worked out if we're careful with money now, we can afford for me to take the full 12 months maternity.
The wrap is out of stock at my local branch Angry. Bit of a drive to the next nearest, but I was complaining I didn't know what to do for the next few weeks Grin

skyra13 · 07/03/2015 10:11

I love the Ladybird wrap think I may have to get it :D

PenguinPoser · 07/03/2015 10:21

Rusty hope you have a plan in place soon and your DH manages to get all the bits!

Regarding shopping still to do... I don't know what I need! I think we definitely have all the basics. Going for nursing bras today which is my final 'big' thing to tick off the list. Can't wait to find out if I'm team pink or blue. Had a dream last night that I had a baby girl she was so cute and small and we went shopping and I was trying to find somewhere to feed her and all these women kept coming over to look at her and I was like go away she's just been born no you can't hold her!! And DH was just sitting munching away at some food! My first proper 'baby is really coming' dream!!

Have a fab baby shower River

RL20 · 07/03/2015 10:24

Thanks for all of the ideas everyone!
Skyra what a bargain! I used to love eBay and my mum is great on it too.
I think a trip to halfords is in the pipeline for tomorrow to have a look at the Isofix bases and get some opinions.
Must remember to get my car cleaned before we do go though, incase we end up buying a base! I wouldn't want anyone to see the inside of my car at this state Confused plus the outside is really dusty too. I think I've had it cleaned twice since I bought it last March Confused oops.

Off subject but does anyone else feel like a tortoise on it's back when trying to get up?! My bump isn't even that big, really, but it's such a struggle trying to get up after I've been sat down leaning back. I feel like I'm going to pull a stomach muscle if I just get up normally?!

TheBooMonster · 07/03/2015 10:35

rl I have to roll to get up, or get DH to pull me up, getting out of bed is the biggest pain in the arse!

OP posts:
skyra13 · 07/03/2015 10:42

RL I struggle to get out of bed and its a really high bed to and to get into it!! I have to do a roll and kind of catch my self lol and sometimes have to get DH to push me upwards to sit up!!

I get him to put my socks on for me!

Anything that falls on the floor now gets left if I can not retrieve it with my toes!

Faithope · 07/03/2015 10:43

Going to put my maternity mat on the bed tonight-surely that will bring on labour? I have 5 weeks to go but I am ready now lol OH pushes me out of bed too

RiverRocks · 07/03/2015 10:49

RL there is no graceful way to move any more. Laying to sitting, leaning back to sitting up, sitting to standing, it's a mammoth task accompanied by lots of grunting and groaning. We have a 4 poster bed, but if it wasn't for that I'd be waking DH every time I needed to get up for a wee!
Do you also find you have to wait a few seconds after you move for everything inside to sort of rearrange? Or is that just me? Grin

skyra13 · 07/03/2015 10:51

Do you think Puppy pads will work the same as maternity mat? lol As I have loads left over from when puppy was little!

RiverRocks · 07/03/2015 10:53

Faithope I bought cheap incontinence pads off the internet and have them under the sheet over the mattress protector, on my nursing chair where I sit and am debating having them in the car... want him to hang on at least another week but there's a lot of women on my Babycentre group and in my NCT group who've been really early... and now Rusty!

Wineandchoccy · 07/03/2015 10:53

Rusty hope you are ok and your husband copes with the baby shopping remind him to ask what do they have actually in stock as we had to wait 3 weeks for our car seat from Mothercare. We got our Isofix from an independent local pram shop and bought it there and then and they fitted it.

I didn't wake up until 10am this morning I didn't even hear DH go to work at 6.30am I must have been tired.

If anybody needs sheets for prams/Moses baskets/cots I can recommended Home Bargains they have washed better than ones I bought from Mamas & Papas and were cheap. Ikea also have a sheet that has a waterproof backing that fits a crib for £5.

The only thing left to buy is the changing bag I want the one to match the Silver Cross pram but work asked we what I needed so that they could buy me something when I finish so I mentioned this so holding off buying it for now, I have the free boots one which will do for the 1st few weeks.

RiverRocks · 07/03/2015 10:56

Think it depends how absorbent they are skyra and how big (?) your waters are when they go. They're all basically the same thing from what I read.

Faithope · 07/03/2015 10:57

RiverRocks I am on Babycentre too ;) Hadnt thought about incontinence pads Hmm

wineandchoccy I have 3 changing bags... Grin
