Wineandchoccy Very jealous of your bargains :D

Still so hot lying in a beach dress, mind I no longer use a blanket for bed any more with DH next to me and the dog at my feet its way to hot!!

dancestomyowntune · 06/03/2015 20:13

That's nothing Solstice, I had my baby, 10 weeks early, by cesarian, I was very poorly... I was discharged on day 5 (baby obv still in neonatal) and I haven't been seen since! No midwife, no health visitor, no one has checked my scar, no one has checked my blood pressure (except my renal specialist at a prearranged appointment). I'm shocked! Especially as in previous births they've been round every day for about three weeks!

RL20 · 06/03/2015 20:22

Dances hope you are ok... How is baby?? BrewThanks

RE Health Visitors, had a call from the local team around here last week, I was rushing as I was just walking into hospital as it was the morning I went in to be monitored for reduced movements, so I wasn't really listening to the phone call at all. She has booked to come out and see me on the 17th, in the morning time.
What will she do/ask? Heard so many bad things about health visitors so a bit nervous Confused

skyra13 · 06/03/2015 20:22

dances I would complain you need your scar checked and things due to infection!

Makes you laugh they hound you when you don't really need them and when you do they are is no one around!

You should be receiving support its not right!

cinnamongreyhound · 06/03/2015 20:24

That is terrible dancestomyowntune! I always assumed midwives were checking on both of you not just the baby. Perhaps the community ones are assuming you're being seen by hospital and vice versa?

A bigger baby is supposed to be easier daholster as more weight pushes down more effectively. My friend always said that contractions are most painful and that once you start pushing its easier but I have to say for me ds2's head being born and waiting for another contraction for his body to be born was the worst part for me but he was 9lb2.

TheBooMonster · 06/03/2015 20:33

faithope welcome to the thread, yus, send me your fb email and I shall add you to the fb group.

moomin I'll pm you my fb page, you should be able to add me as a friend and I can then add you that way, as it makes it easier than hunting through Jane Doe's on Facebook and trying to match up pictures :)

skyra and moomin we weren't visited beforehand with DD, but we were this time round, she mostly checked that I'm not being abused, and I know not to hang babies up side down. She didn't bother asking about equipment, but I guess that's because we have a child already, and she doesn't look like she's suffering or deprived. She did ask how I was feeling about the pregnancy and whether it was planned etc, and whether I was depressed.

daholster it sounds like you need to take it easy which is totally possible with a child already... not-

OP posts:
skyra13 · 06/03/2015 20:46

Lol boo you know I never knew I was not meant to hang my child upside down! That made me giggle!

To be honest I have no idea what I am doing with a child this is my first and have not grown up around children an I am hoping that I will be ok with my own child as other people children scare the crap out of me Grin

RL20 · 06/03/2015 20:53

Ha ha skyra you sound the same as me. I've not grew up around babies, toddlers or even children really! The youngest in my generation is a cousin who is 6 years younger than me. The others are older than that or older than me.
Only child I've really bonded with is my partners daughter, who I have been around since she was about 6 months old, but I was only 17 then (!) and wasn't properly involved obviously until she was around 1 and a half. But I didn't see myself as a stepmum until probably 2 years ago, when she was 4. But it's still not the same as your own is it, as we only have her every other weekend, other than long weekends away and a couple of extra days in the holidays etc.
So this will be like my first experience of a baby, and my partners really!!

TheBooMonster · 06/03/2015 21:04

we missed 3/4 of our antenal classes due to her unscheduled arrival and she's made it to 27 months thus far, you get the hang of it, just practice changing nappies and make sure you know how to make a bottle up of your formula feeding, and remember babies have floppy knocks to start with and you'll be fine!

OP posts:
skyra13 · 06/03/2015 21:07

Some of my friends have children but I moved away so never really got to know any of them DH friends don't have any children and tbh he does not socialise with them that often.

I moved to live with him in Kent and tbh been here 2 and half year and probably made one friend who I see every couple of week for a coffee in town, so hoping when LO arrives it might get me out more to meet some new people feel very isolated at times! Can see why I spend to much time on mumsnet just to talk to people lol!

cinnamongreyhound · 06/03/2015 21:16

Floppy knocks Grin TheBooMonster!

RL20 · 06/03/2015 21:22

Aw I know what you mean skyra.
I've lived in the same area all of my life apart from moving to a different village but lost contact with a lot of my school friends due to having to leave school a bit earlier, as I had Glandular fever and couldn't catch up with GCSE work in time. I started working instead and then got together with my partner when I was 16 and a half. Have since worked, been to college and a placement and then worked again so met plenty of people along the way but none of which I class as close friends to meet up with.
I'd say I now have 4 close friends, but unfortunately one of them has never even congratulated me and I've heard through the grapevine, via her own mum, that it's because she's 'jealous' as she wants a baby but her partner doesn't yet. Which is a bit hurtful. Another is a bit of a party animal and so you guessed it, I haven't heard much from her either. The other 2 I have seen more recently, but one has not long got together with a new partner so is in that honeymoon period. And lastly the other friend has the role of looking after 3 of her younger siblings due to family circumstances, and so does the school runs etc as well as working and going to college. Which I do admire her for but she just doesn't have a lot of spare time, bless her.

So yeah that's why I come on mumsnet! Grin

daholster · 06/03/2015 21:26

Ha ha ha ha HA HA HA HA HAAAAAA FLOPPY KNOCKS!!!!!

RL20 · 06/03/2015 21:36

Have I missed a post? What is floppy knocks?? Grin

daholster · 06/03/2015 21:38

About 4 posts back by boo... Great autocorrect!

cinnamongreyhound · 06/03/2015 21:39

TheBooMonster said remember babies have floppy knocks, pretty sure she meant floppy necks Grin

RL20 · 06/03/2015 21:48

Oh I see it now! Grin Yes probably most likely autocorrect for necks lol! Autocorrect is the worst!

skyra13 · 06/03/2015 21:52

RL Looks like we kinda been in same situation :D You friend sucks for not being happy for you and being jealous not much of a friend!

I am glad cinnamon clear that up for me I did think what the hell is floppy knocks!! lol

Lauren82000 · 06/03/2015 22:10

I finally went hunting for my cervix my curiosity was getting the better of me. I've never felt it so soft and squishy before but it was still pretty posterior and only a tiny bit open. Blush Just thought I'd share that with you. Grin I'll be running it by the mw on Wednesday but I'd say from what I've googled it seems pretty normal for this stage. Apparently you can wander round with a 3-4cm dilated cervix for a good few weeks.

skyra13 · 06/03/2015 22:13

Lol Lauren I had a feel down there today just the outside though and I was like man this does not feel like my vagina anymore!!

skyra13 · 06/03/2015 22:18

Just eaten a bowl of French fries Blush with burger sauce at 10pm on the night!! Think DH thinks I'm a little bit insane but had a mega craving for potato and chips seems easiest!! He was happy to eat them though! lol

TheBooMonster · 06/03/2015 22:26

yikes!!! Necks Necks! not knocks....

TheBooMonster · 06/03/2015 22:43

I am making a coconut rice pudding for DD, started making it way too late though, it needs so long int he over it'll be 1am before it's finished. just as well I accidentally slept through most of today!

lauren not sure I dare to even go rooting round in there, perhaps I'll let DH investigate Blush

Hmmm... French fries! (And floppy knocks)
Just downed a Chinese takeaway and half a cherry coke - now poor l'il Peanut is jumping about on a cocktail of caffeine and MSGs!

A question about hiccups: for the longest time I was worried because I'd never felt Peanut have any. Now they seem to be making up for lost time by getting them about three times a day. Anyone else feeling them often?

Skyra I really don't feel like I have much of a clue about babies either! Seem to be the only one in my peer group that hasn't baby-sat/changed a nappy.
But am consoling self by reading up on it a lot and knowing that I'll be getting the world's most intensive course on it in about a month, all being well :0D

skyra13 · 06/03/2015 22:56

Nunkie I just gave my bump hiccups eating them French fries lol

My bump can have hiccups to as much as 6 times a day if that makes you feel any better and then some days she has none!

I find if i eat something or drink something cold seems to start her off like she is trying to taste whatever I am eating, can be really annoying when I am trying to enjoy dinner feels like someone is knocking to come out!!

She kind of reminds me of Sheldon when he is knocking for penny in the big bang theory lol

Also LO hiccups can last from 5min to 20min!! Shock
