Good luck babiecakes! How exciting to think a baby will be born today, enjoy meeting your little one :)

SPD ladies-bags of sympathy here. I've been suffering with it since about 26 weeks and is now so painful I have crutches to help me get about. I've had Physio and it hasn't really made any difference. I think it's just one of those things that will likely get worse as pregnancy progresses, with nothing to be done about it, but hold on to the good news that it should all disappear quite quickly after baby has arrived! I've forgotten what it's like to walk normally, can't wait!

Re placenta eating.....it's definitely not for me but have to admire those who are doing it, the benefits sound amazing but there is just no way I could bring myself to do it....I was a vegetarian for over 20 years and still fussy with meat so that probably hasn't helped!

Cot, pram, car seat and Moses basket due to be delivered today, plus 34 week midwife appointment and later the tour of the maternity unit.....an exciting baby filled day! It's all starting to feel very real!

Lauren82000 · 04/03/2015 09:12

Good luck babiecakes everything will be fine and you'll get to meet your little one finally.

Well we are semi packed for our trip when I finish work in a few hours. I'm certainly packed but DH wasn't interested in packing last night and I can't leave it to him as he will forget something and it'll be my fault. (He has such a terrible memory, I call him goldfish and it'll be my fault for not reminding him everything he has to pack!) Yes he is a 30 year old male and should be capable to pack for himself but he is an idiot! Who has just text me asking if I washed his new pjs. Hmm

FiRaffe · 04/03/2015 09:22

My DH is the same Lauren- can't pack to save his life. I stand there with all my things in the bag and then make him get his for me to pack. At least I can check what's going in then!!!

RL20 · 04/03/2015 09:43

Morning everyone.
Ever feel like you're just destined to not go back to sleep? Been trying to for the past hour! But I keep getting text messages from my mum, the cat is shifting around me because he wants me to open the window blind so he can sit on the windowsill, and now baby seems to had hiccups Grin so I'm just going to watch the telly for half an hour instead. I suppose it is 9.30am after all...

Thanks for your messages last night, I don't mean to go on and on and bring you all down with me, honestly!
I had the house chat and ended up bursting into tears scaring him and saying I don't feel like he's interested in anything Confused when he asked what, I just didn't even have a reply! Hopefully everything will come together soon.

Good luck babiecakes!! GrinGrin How exciting.

On the subject of KFC Spicy Wings last night, they were one of the first things I ate whilst just getting through the last stage of my sickness at about 16 weeks! I loved them anyway, but had been living on those cheese flavour biscuit things, diluted juice and not much else really! Confused so the hot wings fries and Pepsi went down lovely! I did make a quick escape though just incase I started to feel sick!

No weird cravings here either! I'm partial to the odd Turkish Delight chocolate but not to the point where I'd demand one in the middle of the night? Yet...

Oops, I haven't been doing any pelvic exercises either! Best get googling...

So I'm a few days into maternity leave now... Those who don't work and have no children, how do they remember what day of the week it is?! I'm struggling to remember what day it is already! Grin

Wineandchoccy · 04/03/2015 09:54

Good luck babiecakes I hope everything goes ok

We had the last antenatal session last night about breast feeding, positions and latching on all very useful but a bit hard to take it all in without actually being able to do it.
We have 2 breast feeding drop in sessions in the town on a weekly basis 1 run by a voluntary group and the other is a NCT group so once baby is here I think I may attend these sessions.

ChickenMe · 04/03/2015 10:09

Good luck babiecakes

OH recorded me snoring last night. It is so loud. Does anyone else have this dreadful snoring that sounds like a tractor?
Brixton I'm intrigued by your placenta activities. I am interested in encapsulation but not sure. Tbh I feel self conscious about doing it. I'm an ex-Londoner and if I were in London I would feel more confident cos you can get away with "crazy" stuff but where I am now it's a bit "provincial". I'm on 4x iron tablets a day so I hope that will help.

smogsville · 04/03/2015 10:28

Moomin - LOL! Am also not bothering with PF. But I'm having a section.

Cinnamon - same here with BF. With all due respect to threaders who are planning to give it another go having found it tough first time around, I was lucky, it was easy and DD was sleeping really well by 6 wks and reliably through the night by 12 wks which they always say never happens unless given formula.

Take your point re PF being knackered by preg rather than labour but mine went back to normal in between having DD and this pregnancy.

Boo - good news re the more accessible BF group.

Babiecakes thinking of you!

My DH likes to pack for himself. I don't mind this as long as he is going on a trip by himself whereas if I'm coming too I like to know what he will look like. Control freak, moi?!

RL - vent if you need to. No one minds. We would all be doing the same (and worse in my case).

Chicken - you are v relaxed re your DH recording your snoring! I would be livid!

skyra13 · 04/03/2015 10:56

I didn't even know I was meant to be doing Pelvic Floor exercises Blush
I think I do it without realising it.

Are many of you getting braxton hicks? I have had a few pains down below but I am sure that its not braxton hicks not sure what I am meant to be feeling!

Got a nearly new sale to go to on Saturday so get to have a good look around :D

My DH has said my snoring has gotten worse but he has only woken up once with it because the dog was crying every time I snored think it was freaking the dog out lol and woke DH up.
My DH has terrible snoring I have to sleep with ear plugs in to cope and I can still hear him some nights I just move rooms but DH does not like me not being in bed with him!

I am off to get some shopping and buy a few bits like drinks an jelly babies for the labour! lol Feeling prepared!

FiRaffe · 04/03/2015 11:01

That's organised skyra!

There was a nearly new sale last weekend near us, but decided there is little point going until we know if bump is a boy or girl! There is one in may though so probably will take a trip down then.

RL20 · 04/03/2015 11:04

Skyra no Braxton hicks here, not as far as I know anyway. Had mild period like cramps a few times but other than that, no other signs.
I don't know whether I'm too early for it or whether everyone gets them or what really! I'm 33+2 so I suppose there's still time to experience them!

I was watching 'Friends' the other day where Rachel is pregnant, and in the same day she felt a kick for the very first time, she also had bad Braxton hicks?! I might be wrong but I didn't know you could get them that early on!

Squidge14 · 04/03/2015 11:10

Good luck babie thinking of you...your baby is probably already born now Smile hope you're having lovely cuddles and have your clove of garlic to stave off unwanted visitors Wink

Feeling really pregnant at the moment (how have I got another 8 weeks left!) I was arranging my nest of pillows and what not in bed last night and when I finished I was properly out of breath Blush like to the point of thinking should I dig out my asthma pump Grin and the walk to the station this morning felt like a marathon. Wish I was working from home again today, I did yesterday and I only got out of my PJ's to wash then got back in them for the WHOLE day GrinBlush

Does anyone else feel really heavy in their lower abdomen/back when they wake up in the morning and have a sort of dragging feeling? I also really ache in my hips if I've been laying on my right side too long, I cant wait to sleep how the hell I want again, I wasn't made for single position sleeping!

Ladies - some advice please...there is a work trip in Germany coming up in the next couple of weeks that I have done all the organising and preparation for, I will be 35+4 on the return trip. Am I mad to consider going!? My MW has said if I feel I want to go there is no reason I can't as I have been a low risk, straight forward pregnancy. I could send one of my team in my place but would worry about chucking them in the deep end as they have never done anything like this before!

MoominMama22 · 04/03/2015 11:43

RL uterine contractions start at 6 weeks but most people don't feel them til about 20-26 weeks. I felt mine before I felt kicks. I think there is a bit of confusion as to when they start to be called Braxton Hicks, but yeah the womb has been contracting since the beginning

Thinking of you babiecakes Smile

MoominMama22 · 04/03/2015 11:52

squidge I think only you know what's best to do about the trip. I personally wouldn't want to go anywhere now away from DH or out of the country ... But I wouldn't think you were mad or irresponsible for going at all, you still have a fair while til due date and if you feel Ok... I would make sure you really want to go though rather than just feeling guilty about sending someone else.

ChickenMe · 04/03/2015 11:54

Squidge I am 35+4 now. If I were low risk I would go. If I were under a consultant I wouldnt. Provided it were to a big city and it would help to be able to speak German or have a buddy who did. Plus making sure travel insurance covered me. And your EHIC. (E111). I would nominate a reliable colleague to be like your "monitor" ie they would call a cab for you to Hosp or come with you.
I had heavy bleeding at 14w on holiday in the bloody US!! What had helped is that I had a screen dump on my phone of my insurance details and we had already worked out where the nearest hospital was to us..turns out we needed it. The care was fine, much quicker than nhs due to being private. Not the same as labour but it's a developed country so should be ok. Take your notes.

ChickenMe · 04/03/2015 11:56

But if you are in doubt your team member will cope!

PenguinPoser · 04/03/2015 12:05

Chicken my DH did the same recorded me snoring Angry I didn't think it was all that bad tbh but he complains that I keep him awake if he isn't asleep first! Seems worse when I lie on my right and better on left.

Skyra you're so organised with your shopping - I must add stuff like that to the list for this weekend. Also I started getting occasional Braxton hicks at 20 weeks, and get them quite frequently now. Not painful just my whole bump goes really hard and tight for about 30 seconds or so. I think it's normal to either get them or not. My mw wasn't worried that I had them early. Sometimes baby being more active brings them on as well.

Squidge I honestly wouldn't know what to do about the trip either. I'm 35+5 and couldn't imagine going that far away - but if I was still low risk and didn't have the SPD then it might be different. Do what you think is right I definitely wouldn't think you were wrong for going if you feel up to it.

RL really hope things work out with your housing problems soon.

Just back from hospital for my weekly bloods, they put me on the CTG monitor too and baby went crazy and looked nice and happy. Now have all my appointments booked in for bloods/scans and steroid injections next week, scary!

cinnamongreyhound · 04/03/2015 12:08

I'd go if you feel comfortable but then my pregnancies seem to be 42 weeks so actually ages away by the time you'd return squidge14!!!

I didn't find it easy in the beginning with ds1 smogsville by certainly by 8 weeks it was easy and we knew what we were doing. He also slept through 8-6 at 12 weeks. Ds2 learned quicker to feed well (but perhaps my experience helped) and was pretty regular, apart from a cluster feed for a few weeks 4-6pm but he didn't sleep through until 7 months which was a bit of a shock! My pelvic floor is still doing well but I have always done exercises, I just mean that if it's going to be worn out its the pregnancy not the birth so those with cs aren't necessarily going to be fine. Although I think forceps deliveries do play their part.

Usually I put everything out for all of us and Dh packs it into the bags and then into the car. He's better at getting it all into a small space and I know what we need.

I love KFC but I couldn't manage more than a couple of hot wings!

Yes I get Braxton hicks skyra13 but less these days than I have.

cinnamongreyhound · 04/03/2015 12:12

My Dh is wearing earplugs now because I'm snoring a lot and he sleeps very lightly!

smogsville · 04/03/2015 12:20

Wise cinnamon, of course you're right Smile

Squidge - I probably would go, it's only Germany, provided you will be able to take time out for a lie down if need be. If it's going to be a packed schedule and you feel that realistically, you might not be able to have a rest if required I would perhaps reconsider.

smogsville · 04/03/2015 12:22

Squidge14 · 04/03/2015 12:36

Thank you ladies! I think I will speak to my boss about it again this week and figure out how much I am needed, to be honest the event is being held in a Jumeirah hotel so I can always go upstairs for a lie down (it is a 2 night trip) or sneak off to the spa for a preggo massage if I needed to!

minipie · 04/03/2015 13:11

babiecakes thinking of you, hope it all goes/has gone ok and your little girl is doing well Smile

squidge am I missing something, I thought airlines wouldn't let you fly at this stage anyway? Or would you be taking the train? Travel insurance is unlikely to cover you for pregnancy and birth related expenses I think, though depends on the company, but the EHIC should cover you.

Braxton Hicks - I get them early and a lot. Last pregnancy I think they started at 20 weeks, before movements. This time a bit later. They are worse if I'm dehydrated at all or walk a lot. Yay Hmm. So the Rachel thing isn't impossible...

Placenta eating - I sort of agree with it in theory (many new mother animals eat the placenta for nutrition), and I'm not put off by the ick factor (after all if I'm willing to eat bits of a random animal why not something I grew myself?). But tbh I'm just not organised enough Grin I reckon I'll have enough to think about just after the birth without worrying about cool bags and so on.

Bloody DD is sleeping so badly at the moment Sad Angry she goes to bed late anyway (as doesn't need much sleep), plus she's been waking in the middle of the night due to teething, plus we moved her to her new room at the weekend and since then she's been waking early when the heating comes on, I think her radiator must be noisy. Argh. I am SO tired and have got to face a newborn in a few weeks!

skyra13 · 04/03/2015 13:12

Squidge14 Don't think I could cope with a trip Germany this big lol but its up to you!

Got my foods for hospital now, and got aloud of my Mexican stuff for next week as it was 2 for 3 pound of the sauces an things hopefully will make it easier doing Mexican night next weekend!

Really starting to feel the bump is getting in the way now keep bumping it into things, or I try and fit into a space that is obvs to small for me haha!

Dropped a load of ear buds in the bathroom and given up picking them up will wait for husband to get home to do it!! If I cant pick things up now with my toes they are getting left where they dropped! Grin

londonlivvy · 04/03/2015 13:53

squidge I think I'd go. But as others have said, take your EHIC card. and insurance as EHIC wouldn't cover all costs of a birth, even in an EU country.
