one and a half booties knitted! this baby might just have something I made for her after all! wooop woooop!

smogsville · 04/03/2015 14:23

Squidge I reckon work insurance should cover you if they would like you to go. One for a chat with the boss/ HR.

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 04/03/2015 14:26

and the knitting is done!

trouble is, since I used "rainbow" wool and there's not a lot to them they don't actually look like they match! one's yellow fading to orangey pink, and the other's pink fading to white :-\

it's these - if you can cast on, cast off and do a "knit" stitch you can do these. www.gina-michele.com/2015/01/easiest-baby-booties-ever-knitting.html

I feel like a cheat, I've done loads of more complicated ones for other people's babies in the past... hand stitched, lined felt shoes for a niece, tiny "mary jane" type knitted shoes.. but that was before I had 2 kids and no sleep!

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 04/03/2015 14:33

(translation from the american terms - use double knitting wool, and 5.00mm/size 6 knitting needles)

londonlivvy · 04/03/2015 15:07

re Germany, squidge don't rely on EHIC. I was in Austria over new year and had severe abdominal cramps. They were great, did scan, trace, etc and kept me in overnight with drips for the dehydration. It was a public hospital. I gave them my EHIC. Bill was 900 Euros!!! fortunately my travel insurance will cover. But don't rely on EHIC.

RL20 · 04/03/2015 15:14

Squidge it's hard to say what I would do in your shoes but for you to say yes, must mean you feel ok about it? I don't think I would go but like I say, I really don't know! A massage in the spa does sound lovely! And if you can go for a lie down then great. But don't feel guilty if you decide not to go, I'm sure they were probably surprised that you said yes anyway? Either way, put yourself and baby first as I'm sure you would, and like the others have said, take into consideration any possible (hopefully not, though) complications etc.

Thank you Penguin yes I hope so too!

Hmm, sounds like I have been quite naive about Braxton Hicks then! I'm still sure I haven't had any yet though.

FiRaffe · 04/03/2015 16:09

Ooh knitting sounds fab! I wish I could, but i'll leave it to the grandparents.

Squidge - as everyone had said, you have to be comfortable and someone would be able to cover if you couldn't face it.

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 04/03/2015 16:16

will try to remember to take a photo later after I sew them together.

Squidge14 · 04/03/2015 16:43

Thank you for all your replies, I will definately be checking re insurance etc as if it's not covered for me to travel I won't be going! to be honest if I hadn't done all of the organising and prep work for the event I wouldn't even think about going it's only because I am the only one who knows what's going on! Maybe that it my answer....stop being a control freak and hand over to someone else!

minipie it depends on the airline, BA will accept passengers up until the end of their 36th week for single pregnancies providing you have a doctors letter stating your due date, that the pregnancy is low risk and there is no known reason you shouldn't travel

I keep wondering how babie has been getting on too! I hope she's happy on cloud 9 with her little girl Smile

brummagem · 04/03/2015 16:58

Been thinking bout babie hope everything has gone well and enjoying some serious munch time with DD.

My stomach has just rippled from left to right and it totally freaked me out. Not half as much as someone saying "you're due next month" when I prefer "april" as it sounds much further away than next month! Think I need a stiff gin and a paper bag to hyperventilate into.

smogsville · 04/03/2015 17:40

Completely agree brumma. It's unacceptable to say 'next month'.

Is anyone else really bored of being told how big/ small they are. Tempted to remain indoors for next six weeks and accept visits only from friends i can trust not to make inane remarks Angry

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 04/03/2015 17:54

I'm scared, they still haven't given me a date for my caesarian and my due date is the 8th of April... quite literally within 4 weeks I'm having this baby via the sunroof and I don't know when!

BananaToast · 04/03/2015 17:57

I quite like thinking I'm due next month!

Ebwy have they said when they are likely to agree a date?

TinyTear · 04/03/2015 18:09

I got my date at my 34w appointment...

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 04/03/2015 18:14

yes - at my 34 week one they said they'd do it at my next appointment! and at the one before that, they said they'd do it at my 34 week one.

Considering from the moment I found out I was pregnant it's been a certainty that I must have a caesarian to end this pregnancy it feels like they just can't be arsed. It makes sense for those who are told "probably" but in my case it's not an option to try a vaginal delivery so why on earth they want to leave it so late I don't understand

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 04/03/2015 18:15

my next apointment is on the 17th :\

RL20 · 04/03/2015 18:26

I like saying that I'm due next month too, although I don't think I've actually said it out loud! That's doesn't mean I'm any less scared though. I never thought pregnancy could go as fast as it has done so far! I go through phases of overthinking about the birth and scaring myself, or just trying to not think of it at all Confused

Squidge, maybe give yourself a break then and like you say hand it over to someone else. I'm sure they'll be more than capable and will understand completely!

Ebwy that sounds unfair. I hope you can get it sorted. Maybe give the midwife office a call and say your concerned. That might sound a bit drastic but with your next appointment not being until the 17th, they're cutting it a bit short aren't they! I know I would probably call them in your situation. Good luck

FiRaffe · 04/03/2015 19:00

I can't wait until next month - but then baby could be 2 months away.....stupid baby! I obviously love it, but I am getting so impatient. I obviously want baby to be safe and grow to a proper size but i'm ready now!

Lindalove · 04/03/2015 19:04

Hi just popping by as haven't been here for ages.... Hope everyone is well. I'm 36 weeks tomorrow so a week away from term, have all my kit bought, bag packed & doula booked for vital moral support!

I need to make an appointment with the MW anyway, so I'll bitch at her about it then.

It wouldn't be so bad except none of my family make it as far as their due date.

technically "elective" and was at 39 weeks to the day - but I was in labour when they started to cut me open and they had to use forceps to get him out as he was trying to use the front door! (he still has a scar on his face from that)

but "elective" implies I had a choice...
