Hello new posters waves

Hope all of you struggling with sleep manage a good night soon! Everyone keeps telling me its good training for when Bump is here but still not convinced!

Just had growth scan and bump is a more modest 4.5lb and between 50 and 90th centile lines. Just teaching him to swim early. Placenta has also moved enough for a natural birth so that's also good news :) dancing

smogsville · 02/03/2015 10:36

Thanks Penguin. Yes I've had weetabix and banana at work. I'll have to have an apple soon though. At work I seem to get much much hungrier - must be bc I am mainly sitting rather than rushing about like at home. When do you get liver scan results? Great that you had a nice sonographer.

Nunkie my friend had low count. For her it meant she couldn't go to the brand spanking new standalone MLU just in case - she had to go to the one attached to hospital labour ward just in case but she had a quick and easy labour (it was her second) in pool with no intervention so got what she wanted in the end.

minipie · 02/03/2015 10:38

Morning all

Gosh I am struggling to keep up.

Coats in car seats - oooops - we do this all the time (it encourages DD to nap in the car rather than whinge). Will switch to blanket over the straps instead.

RL sorry to hear about the leak and asbestos worries, hope it can all be sorted very quickly. Such a shame when you thought you'd just got settled.

Transverse baby - yes sitting leaning forward is supposed to help get them head down, also there is a website called Spinning Babies (I think?) which has all sorts of tips on getting your baby into the right position!

Penguin that's amazing about the toes in the photo! I've never seen anything like that (anterior placenta so probably won't).

I've been quite tearful too the last few days - I cried at the KFC ad with the adopted boy, and at Call the Midwife... Hormones are clearly gearing up.

We have finally moved DD into her "big girl bedroom" so the baby can have her room (when old enough). She's taken to it fine but seems to have decided to wake up about 45 minutes earlier in the mornings ARGH so she's tired and grumpy till her nap and so are we! Could be that the new room is lighter, colder, noisier, just a bit exciting, who knows....

Yes definitely feeling like there is NO ROOM in me any more. My bump is enormous, people keep telling me I must be due any day now and/or having twins Hmm Nope 4.5 weeks left in fact and bump is measuring normal size believe it or not. It just sticks out a lot as it's all in front of me because I have a narrow torso and useless stomach muscles.

daholster · 02/03/2015 10:39

Good news gem!

Platelets are usually only a problem if less than 100, a big issue if less than 50. They are probably just bring cautious. Let's hope!

BananaToast · 02/03/2015 10:40

I've got a scan this morning too to check on some reduced movement I went in for over the weekend. Looking forward to another glimpse at baby and just keeping fingers crossed everything looks as it should. Interested to see what position baby's in too.

33 weeks today - this little one will be here in the next 9 weeks whatever happens. So soon!

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 02/03/2015 10:44

re: the no coats in car seats thing - what we do in winter is coats off, strap the kids in, then put their coats on them backwards, so they are warm and can push the coat off if they get too warm now they're a bit bigger too.

Nunkie · 02/03/2015 11:03

Thanks for the replies Guys, I'm reassured by your words.
(Feel a bit daft predictably jumping into Worry-mode as soon as i get a call from the surgery ..but it doesn't take much to set you off when you're preggers does it? :0)

Congrats on the growth scan brumma, sounds like it went great :0)

skyra13 · 02/03/2015 11:13

Got to say april is looking to become an expensive month for me baby due, mot due, car insurance due lol whattt luckly wont have much time to go out and spend money with a newborn attached to my boob lol!!

Am I slightly mad driving to the south of France 6 weeks after she is due? I am starting to think I might be!

Drive to the hospital is about 20min the one I'm aloud to give birth in though is 45min away!

Have to go over a stupid bridge to that you have to fight to get over who ever is on it has right of way I once reversed into it so not feeling like I want to drive over it again :(

Silly Husband decided to get into an argument last year with a lorry so now insurance has gone up to, feeling a little smug as mine is only 250 Grin

Good luck to all who have scans today lets hope they are all doing what they should be!!

Not long to go know 5 weeks for me if She comes on time maybe 2 if she wants to get out early just hoping she isnt late dont think I would cope!!

TheBooMonster · 02/03/2015 11:20

welcome gherkin

Good luck ladies with scans today, glad yours went well brum

Didn't sleep atrociously last night, only woke up to pee about 4 times, but DD woke up at 5 Hmm and sang loudly until I had no choice but to get up for a pee at 6:30, so then She started crying and DH got her up. Going to try and reintroduce a nap today, on mums recommendation as she naps every day without fail when she's at mums, so from 2 till 3 today we will be in 'sleep training mode' DD is going to go mental, but she really does need to sleep so I feel like I should be making her have the hour time out...

OP posts:
minipie · 02/03/2015 11:20

skyra re the drive.... do you have a lay flat car seat? (they are quite unusual I think) If not then I think you're not supposed to have the baby in a care seat for longer than 2 hours and they need to be out for a 30 min rest every 2 hours - too long in the car seat can cause breathing and spine issues I think. (And anyway you will need to feed/change pretty often). So not totally mad but um I wouldn't do reckon on it taking a very long time!! Any chance you can fly instead? Bit of a rush to get the passport in time but should be doable...

Ebwy good tip about the coat, thanks!

skyra13 · 02/03/2015 11:28

It is indeed going to be a mad rush to get passport. The plan is to stop evey 2 hours anyway she will need feeding and people will be swaping driving and things, we are going via the tunnel so can get her out of seat anyway but I am looking into the lay down seats but all depends on money, if we get the grant when she is born then I might get lay flat seat.

I did speak to the midwife an she said as long as baby is out evey few hours and its not like we are doing it every day then it should not be a problem re any spinal issues and things.

We are driving as we are taking the dog also yes now its starting to sound abit mad lol

minipie · 02/03/2015 11:34

Ah ok if you are taking the dog then no to flying! Good luck! Assuming you have feeding sorted by then, and take regular breaks, it should be ok, she will just sleep most of the way (actually at that age DD was a nightmare to get to nap so a long car journey would have helped!!) A few babies hate the car seat eg if they have reflux but that's fairly rare... Not sure about if you have a c section, I don't know if car journeys are uncomfy post section or not? but again probably easier than being on your feet anyway.

skyra13 · 02/03/2015 11:41

Never thought about C-section told my DH I will not be driving so it will be shared between him and my Dad lol
we have not been away for over a year so when DH brother offered us his house in south of France we kind of jumped at it once everything is sorted I think will feel better :)

Anyone else suffering from leaking nipples yet? I normally get liquid if I squeeze when drying them when getting out of shower, but this morning while making my soup my one boob started randomly leaking!! made my damn pjs all wet lol was a surprise I really should get to cleaning the house but have no motivation Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 02/03/2015 11:56

obeliaboo, I got bottles later and fb fed but as they don't recommend expressing until after 6 weeks he didn't feed either until after that. Although we tried very soon after with ds1 as I went back to work when he was 6 months and I didn't want him to be a bottle refuser! Re milk, for the first few days your baby will only get colostrum and they take 10-20ml of it at each feed so until your milk comes in no sign of milk in your breasts doesn't mean there won't be any. Mine are quite lumpy at the moment but several weight gains and a significant weight loss in my life plus three pregnancies means they are pretty saggy Sad so can see a lot more of what's going on internally! Don't think that because you don't leak you won't have milk at all.

Hi GherkinMuncher!

Sorry you were up in the night Moominmama22! Just sitting on the ball is good as well as sitting backwards on a dining chair. You can also kneel on the floor with your forearms on the floor in front and your head down, on kneel on the sofa with forearms on the floor and head down. Try to wiggle your hips while in that position too. Slouching back on the sofa is the worst position so sitting on the ball is preferable.

Hope scan goes well skyra13. As long as you plan stops I think you'll be fine, you should feel comfortable enough by then and unless you have a rare baby that hates the car she'll be too small to know anything about it!

I'm the same at the moment SquattingNeville, I gained a bit but have now gone back down. DH keeps complaining my bump is growing and I'm getting smaller. I'm not depriving myself though, eat when I'm hungry and have treats but perhaps I could eat more. I'm reluctant at times because of the heartburn!!!

No idea sorry Nunkie! I think with formula, other than Christmas day there is no time you can't get some but I see the comfort in having it. For me it was that I didn't want it to be there at a weak moment when I was struggling as I knew Dh would be all for it to make my life easier andnid regret it. If never let a baby go hungry though out of stubbornness!

Great news brummagem!

TheBooMonster · 02/03/2015 11:59

skyra my left is a bit leaky at times, especially if DD starts crying Shock

I'm so excited for my Tesco delivery tonight (is it 8pm yet?) it's full of scummy snack stuff! Though it's a big shop and we went through the cupboards and took out all the iffy food in preparation and there's suddenly no food in the house so I have no idea what to do about lunch... might have to be a small mountain of chicken bites to make up for the comparatively healthy soups and smoothies i've got planned for DD and I the rest of the week apart from on Thursday when I go for my wax as I'm having chips to recover as I'll already be in the city

daholster · 02/03/2015 12:01

Hubby just hot told he got a little bonus! Handy! Then my phone has packed in. Aaaaaaaaargh!!!!

And dad is really late. I am not going to get a sleep. I could cry again!

IvegotaCaveTroll · 02/03/2015 12:37

Nunkie when I do lumbar punctures ( similar to epidurals) platelets need to be above 75. I think they get twitchy in obstetrics when they are around 100- but as someone already said there's a dilution all effect in pregnancy.

I feel awful today. Not been sleeping at night for ages. Knackered and have awful pain in my side which means the kicking really hurts - so glad I've got a hopeful 39 weeks induction.

Hope everyone still working is ok. Iv been signed of for my last 5 weeks of work- the guilt has gone as I know how crap iv felt.

Hope people have a good day!

MoominMama22 · 02/03/2015 12:54

Thanks cinnamon I'm on my ball now :)
skyra and boo think my midnight breast pad making breast pads was a warning. Woke up with a leaky right boob! Is it weird that this is quite exciting to me? First time I've had any sign!

My bump also strangely feels lighter and smaller today! Bonus
Have a good day ladies :)

35+2

moo I'm also excited, I had no leaking with DD and was convinced my boobs were broken! Hoping the early leaky stuff means I'll do better with breastfeeding this time round!

babie At least baby will be in the safest place, though it must be a bit of a shock! Have you got everything ready?

OP posts:
ChickenMe · 02/03/2015 13:04

Good luck to those with scans.

I keep feeling sick every bloody day now Sad. I did vomit on Friday but since then it's just been queasiness.

Just had a crazy nesting moment and washed the bin and kitchen cupboards. There was bin juice at the bottom and it smelled of fishShock

PenguinPoser · 02/03/2015 13:07

Experimenting to see if my baby foot photo will upload...Smile
minipie I have an anterior placenta too but think baby must be poking out over the top of it now. Sometimes it feels like it's trying to break free!

Hope scans are ok for everyone else having them today!
Smogs the lady told me at the end that everything looked ok so although I don't think I will officially get results until antenatal clinic next week I feel reassured that she didn't see anything unusual.

Sorry you're feeling awful ivegotacavetroll but good that you don't have to worry about work anymore. Hope the audit thing got sorted out and that you aren't having to do it.

Skyra I have no experience of travelling with babies but from what I have heard it definitely sounds do-able - they are small and transportable! We are flying in August so slightly apprehensive about that but everyone has told me that it should be fine. I'm more worried about fitting everything in the cases - but in a car that should be less of a problem for you hopefully. You've made me think I would like a little break somewhere with DH and baby (Italy will be a big family wedding) might look into that finances permitting Smile

Boo I feel your excitement about the shopping being delivered! We shopped ok Saturday so plenty of snacky foods in it's just difficult not to eat them all at once!! I no longer have any self control I am definitely not losing weight...!

Spinning babies website for those with transverse or breech babies.

PenguinPoser · 02/03/2015 13:09

Ah cross post babiecakes good luck and hope everything goes well - you have done amazingly to get to 36 weeks.

Siarie · 02/03/2015 13:12

Good luck babiecakes, this will be the second baby born of the group right?

I've just eaten a bag of Kettle chips to myself Blush I think I better go out and replace them and pickup from more healthy snacks while I'm at it!
