This started as a TTC thread about a year ago, which, as so many of us C'ed, kind of fizzled out Smile. Since then, we've been joined by many other over-35ers to share the joys and grumbles of pregnancy in our decrepitude, and watch first our pubes, then our feet, disappearing from view.....

I think it depends on your normal clothes how soon you have to move up into maternity clothes....I couldn't do my jeans up by about 10 weeks, but luckily my big wardrobe staple is dresses with leggings underneath, so some of them still fit me at 27 weeks....but my pregnancy leggings from Peacocks are blissfully comfortable...Smile. Luckily, my weight cycles, and I found lots of old size 16 tops at the back of my drawers which fit really well again now, so it's kind of like having a brand new wardrobe! Hmm When it gets warm I'm going to fling some wax strips at my legs and hope for the best....

Thanks for the welcome ladies...I did have a look at the antenatal group for the month I'm due but everyone seems so young Confused

abs if you wouldn't mind adding me to the stats list, that would be great and I'll pm you to join the fb group.

I'm jealous of those of you who aren't needing maternity wear yet. I have no idea how I'm going to survive till after the 12 week scan before I move in to maternity wear as I am permanently bloated at the moment and already look further along. I really don't want to tell work until I'm much further along (and no, I haven't worked out how I'm going to tell them or what I'm going to do).

Hope everyone is well

AbsInTheClub · 02/03/2015 21:14

Yeah. I was in loose casual jeans rather than skinnies, so I had room to grow.

Thanks for all explaining about your maternity clothes. I think you're right Stubborn about it depending on what your normal clothes are. Mine are all fitted dresses and skirts and no stretchy or loose things, so not going to last much longer. When I read how much later others were coping in normal clothes, I was thinking that my muscle tone must be rubbish if they were still the same size as they normally are half way through their pregnancy! Phew!

Good point about the tights, Abs. Maybe I can ditch them soon if I can stay awake long enough to wax my legs!

Don't be afraid to join the October group Carikube. There are about five of us in our forties now I think and the younger ones are all nice too.

Gingerbreadlady1 · 04/03/2015 17:01

How's everyone doing? News here, I've been off this week as seem to have a trapped nerve or something in back which is making walking very painful. It's worth the pain to be off! I'm loving it, very naughty. I'm finishing up at week 36, 6 weeks on Friday. F*ckkkkkkkkk! Lol.

Sparrowlegs248 · 04/03/2015 18:55

V.jealous of your week off ginger even if it means pain! My work are very good about pregnancy time off, and are generally amazed that i have only had 2 days sickness for hip pain so far. I have a weeks holiday at Easter, can't wait!

Got some diy done at the weekend - some storage, so can start 'getting my house in order' i have a few pretty small things I really want done before baby arrives so was pleased to make a start.

20wk scan in a week. Eeeep!

Lolababy00 · 04/03/2015 18:57

Hi everyone had scan today , I'm officially 12 weeks and 2 days baby due on the 14 th of September. Nt scan put at 1.5 hopefully that's good ... Full results in two weeks. No HB for me as the worried about bleeding afterwards and no going over 40 weeks.
Ginger that sounds painful enjoy the days off.

It's Spring, and the Old Birds are nesting. First hatchlings coming soon!
stubbornstains · 04/03/2015 19:03

Congratulations lola! The best milestone to pass! Is it me, or is your baby clutching its head and sucking its fingers? Very relaxed!

Sorry to hear about your trapped nerve ginger- are you on painkillers? Or do you just have to lie very, very still?

God, I am so tired today (what's new?). I didn't sleep very well last night as I have a cold, so kept waking up snotting and drooling. But I had my 28 week appointment, and all seems nice and normal....Smile.

OP posts:
Lolababy00 · 04/03/2015 19:49

Thanks stubborn glad 28 week check went well ... It's horrible when you can't sleep , I'm sure it's getting you ready for those sleepless nights to come. Baby had hands on it's face ... It's all a bit real now Smile

AbsInTheClub · 04/03/2015 19:59

Looks like baby is blowing you a kiss, Lola!

Ouch for the trapped nerve, but yay for the time off work, Ginger.

Notta, I need some new storage, need to get sorted.

32 weeks here!

HexyQueen · 04/03/2015 20:34

cineraria preggers tights are the best, expensive tho, at £14 for 2 in H&M but worth it now my bump is fucking huge (26+3). Lovely not having a line digging in across my middle. Just got to get some mahoosive maternity knickers sorted for under tight dresses now, as even cheap primark granny pants are not going anywhere near this bump. DP is pissing himself at me trying to struggle into a pair of Bridget Jones's pants yet them looking tiny on me.

I'm feeling your pain ginger as I too have a trapped nerve in my back, stronger co-codamol can take the edge off it but I'm living with a hot water bottle on my back atm and trying not to move too much. Saying which I have slept for Britain last few days; was asleep in front of the tv by 10.30 last night, slept thru till 7.30, got DD ready for school & back to bed and slept from 9.30am to 3 pm. Still feel like I've been running a marathon.

Fabulous scan pic Lola. The 12 week one always feels like such a massive milestone to pass. Yay! Glad your 28 week check went well stubborn

xxx

stubbornstains · 04/03/2015 21:46

Can you not just buy pants in a bigger size hexy? Nice stretchy ones in the next size up have worked for me....

OP posts:
stubbornstains · 04/03/2015 21:48

Oh yes, NT of 1.5 sounds good and normal too, lola x

OP posts:
Cineraria · 05/03/2015 12:23

Sorry to hear about the trapped nerves, Ginger and Hexy. I hope they untrap themselves soon.

So lovely to see the scan picture, Lola. The baby's hand position is really sweet, like s/he is snuggling up ready to sleep. It must be great to have that milestone complete successfully. Mine is two weeks tomorrow and I'm both counting the days as I can't wait and dreading it at the same time. I feel like the baby has to pass an exam!

Lolababy00 · 05/03/2015 12:38

Thanks cineraria, know exactly how you feel about baby having to pass an exam, it's a frightening and exciting all at the same time. Just got to wait for the combined results to come back roughly two weeks and then I will feel happy to share the news with family.

HexyQueen · 05/03/2015 19:24

I have the nice yet awkward problem of my bump being all out front. So going into a size 12 means I have a very baggy arse in any big pants which can accomodate the bump, as I've not put any weight on my size 8 derriere.
#firstworldproblem #baggyarse

stubbornstains · 05/03/2015 19:36

Yeeerssss (strokes chin)...not a problem I'm sharing there hexy! Grin.

OP posts:
Gingerbreadlady1 · 05/03/2015 20:28

Me neither (skinny mare).hexy, how long have you had it for? Walking is the only exercise I'm getting so hoping it's maybe just where baby is sitting or something, I'm reluctantly going to have to go back to work soon. Can ask mw tomorrow, also got 3d scan tomorrow night. Will be last time I see him before he's here....gulp....

1.5 sounds very healthy lola but I understand the anxious wait.

Excellent news all is reassuringly average stubborn, our next big milestone is the birth now I think?

cineraria, the first 12 weeks go soooo slowly, you'll be counting the days.

Gingerbreadlady1 · 05/03/2015 20:29

hexy that's how long have you had trapped nerve for, not the size 8 arse! (Jealous)

stubbornstains · 05/03/2015 20:48

our next big milestone is the birth now I think?

Aaaaaaaaaaaarrrrggggghhhhhhhhhhhh (pales visibly).

I prefer to count the MW appointment where you discuss the birth plan as a milestone then! I much prefer the idea of arguing about giving birth to the idea of actually giving birth!

OP posts:
stubbornstains · 05/03/2015 20:50

3D scan sounds very cool, by the way- is that for medical reasons, or just to see? Smile

OP posts:
Gingerbreadlady1 · 05/03/2015 21:10

Just to see stubborn, want to make the most of it all as this is likely to be my only baby. Can't wait, wondering he'll have dps, err, distinctive, forehead lol!

stubbornstains · 05/03/2015 21:12

Distinctive forehead?!Horns....you mean horns, don't you!!

OP posts:
Gingerbreadlady1 · 05/03/2015 21:18

That would explain a lot lol, well he describes it himself as a 5-head rather than forehead.

Gingerbreadlady1 · 05/03/2015 21:21

You lot need to read "the funny thing about pregnancy thread". It had me pmsl, proper lol, tears to my eyes stuff. stubborn, think you posted?
