Woke up really panicky today :( feeling overwhelmed and worried again my very low bmi is a huge concern to my consultant and they've asked me to eat 2500/2800 calories atleast a day when I normally eat 1,000 which I know isn't enough but I suffer from anorexia. I'm trying for the baby but it's making me so anxious.

Does worry about the baby happen again every day after a scan? Feel like the reassurance doesn't last very long.

Treaclepie19 · 27/02/2015 08:11

Worry I think some of us are just more prone to worry.
I'm a worrier. It drives DH mad.
Could you perhaps seek some support from your gp with your anorexia?

I have support but I've had support since I was 8 for it ... Nothing works for me 'can only help myself'

Treaclepie19 · 27/02/2015 08:33

Well there is truth to that but the people supporting you should be able to offer tips as to how to do that.

Oh worry, I'm so sorry, that must be so difficult for you. Have you ever looked in to cbt before?

Becca83 · 27/02/2015 08:41

Well, I stupidly spoke too soon. The sickness returned this morning. I really hate the first thing in the morning sickness, it hurts so much when there's nothing in my tummy.

How's everyone else feeling today?

THEworrywart · 27/02/2015 08:45

Becca - yeah I've had cbt twice, was meant to start again this week but they've pushed it back to May because of the pregnancy?!

Guavasforbreakfast · 27/02/2015 08:51

Becca do you mean the vomiting hurts first thing in the morning? My absolute saviour which I discovered last time (and continued this time) was drinking half a pint of water as soon as I woke up. Then the vomit was mostly cool water rather than bile. It really, really helped. So much that I actually didn't mind the morning vomit and dreaded the rest of the day when there was actual food in it. Sorry tmi!

Whatabout · 27/02/2015 08:57

Worry are you under the mental health midwives? I have been referred this time due to severe anxiety. I've been referred for cbt to try and help.

Anorexia is not something I havd experience whole heartedly but I've been close. It's a hard cycle to break and so connected to control and pregnancy is one of the biggest out of control things I've ever done. One day and one meal at a time. Seeing your body change involuntarily is hsrd, but miraculous.

You are having excellent care and you and bubs will be fine.

Stanway · 27/02/2015 09:02

Scan day. ... eek!

Worry, must be really tough. Could you build up the calories really slowly, ie extra 50 calories every 3/4 days? Should imagine more than doubling your calorie intake in one go would be terribly difficult, and physically uncomfortable? Good luck!

THEworrywart · 27/02/2015 09:06

Stanway good luck today!

It's what I'm trying to do at the minute because I don't want to force too much at once on myself I know I'll end up worse

mrsdos · 27/02/2015 10:29

Scan complete! Took an absolute age and two attempts as baby did not want to cooperate! Only managed to get one measurement taken but seems fine. Dates remain the same at 30th Aug, please can I stay? Smile Will post a pic later when on the pc

THEworrywart · 27/02/2015 10:33

Mrsdos mines aug 31st I'm staying here they can't get rid of me! Plus most the August people will have their scans before us

thecrab · 27/02/2015 10:57

good morning girls and good luck with any scans today!

I've got my 12wk scan booked soon but I'm sure I'll only be 11wks and a couple days by then, if so and everything looks good would you girls start telling people or book a private 12 wk scan to double check?

RE: CBT I'm shocked that CBT would be postponed until after the baby is born, my doctors are going to push mine forward because of the pregnancy. Surely learning CBT techniques now would be beneficial for both mum and baby for a less stressed and anxious time?

THEworrywart · 27/02/2015 10:59

You will be fine to tell people after your scan don't book another buy the baby a present or yourself instead!

Isn't it ridiculous I clearly need therapy now more than ever!

Whatabout · 27/02/2015 11:23

I got put back last time and told immediately as the odds are the same at 10/11 weeks and 12 weeks.

Treaclepie19 · 27/02/2015 11:34

Had my scan appointment (and consultant appointment at the same time). Bit gutted as it's not not til 13 and a half weeks.
18th March 8.50

Sort of worried as it's late for the nuchal test isn't it :/

OP posts:
THEworrywart · 27/02/2015 11:35

NTs can be done upto 14 weeks

Cornberry · 27/02/2015 12:24

treacle at my scan I was dated 13+3 and it was fine

Kittykitty05 · 27/02/2015 12:33

I've looked into the Harmony test for further clarification after my rubbish nt test results. It's about £500, and have to travel to london. Then I discovered two nhs hospitals offer it, one being equidistant to us to the one I've registered at. I'm changing hospital now and they are arranging the test for me now. Hurrah! One bonus of having this test is as it assesses baby's DNA they tell you the gender!

lovesmycake · 27/02/2015 12:39

Oh kitty what a lovely bonus to have - I'm glad to hear you can get the harmony test on the NHS hopefully everything will come back clear for you but if not you will have more information at your fingertips and that can only be a good thing :)

Whatabout · 27/02/2015 12:57

That sounds great Kitty, is there a charge? It will be lovely to know for sure the flavour!

misssmilla1 · 27/02/2015 13:23

kitty we get that too! I was really shocked when the dr said they can give us the sex of the baby at 10+ weeks from the harmony test. It feels really early to know, but the OH is all for it. I have the test scheduled for Monday, so we should know all the results by 13th March.

In other news I have another stinking cold and spent most of the night with a tissue shoved up my nose to stop it from running Blush I'd usually dose up on ibuprofen etc but have no idea what I can use - I even read that taking high dose vitamin C tablets was a bad idea. Anyone any suggestions for a head cold and blocked / runny nose?

DeladionInch · 27/02/2015 13:29

Worry would you be more comfortable adding small amounts of healthy food to your existing diet? Boiled or poached egg with tinned tomato and grilled bacon on granary bread at breakfast time, for example. And vegetable soup is piss easy to make - you can gradually add fats eg butter on bread later if you feel comfortable. Think of it as nutrition for your baby, they take an awful lot out of us and bollocks to the "you don't need to eat for two" brigade!!! You really do.

showtunesgirl · 27/02/2015 15:32

That is very odd that they are pushing back the time of the CBT. I am having CBT at the moment for birth trauma from my first pregnancy. If anything, the CBT became MORE urgent because of the fact that I need to be a better place to make decisions for this time round.
