Kitty I dyed my hair throughout my last pregnancy and all was fine. I didn't think it seemed risky having read up on it. You might be more likely to have a reaction from it though so would do a patch test.

We did NCT and really enjoyed it. We don't meet up as couples as much as we hoped but I am good friends with two of them and see them every week. It's a bit hit and miss whether you make friends depending on that group. Two couples from ours weren't really that bothered about keeping in touch while other groups are really close knit. We did learn a lot though more about birth than anything else. The NHS class we were offered was just about pain relief and was really helpful but just one session so not much chance to meet people. Not sure if we'll do anything this time. The NCT classes round here seem to have stopped. Was hoping they might do refresher ones but even the main ones have disappeared.

Morning all! Full of the joys of spring today. Dentist this morning asked for my maternity exemption certificate which I don't yet have so showed her a scan photo instead haha

GoooRooo · 19/02/2015 10:48

I did NCT and hated it. But our teacher really wasn't my cup of tea. I think groups can really vary.

Kittykitty05 · 19/02/2015 10:50

Oh poops, ds just caught me taking my vitamin and asked why I'm taking pregnancy vitamins Grin
I've removed the labels up till now but just got a new pot out. I gabbled something about them just being a good multivitamin!
Planning on telling kids at weekend if scan all ok tomorrow, think it won't be such a surprise! Lol

GeneralClusterFuck · 19/02/2015 10:57

Hello all Grin

I had my rescan yesterday. I am no longer having twins. If I am honest it was a massive relief, I had lost all connection to the pregnancy since they told me it was two Blush I wasn't coping at all.

So I have a healthy single nugget, measuring 9+3 which is a day or two out for dates but I think thats normal at this stage and measuring 1"

We told DD last night - she is absolutely thrilled bless her. She's already put forward her name suggestions... now to manage her 'is the baby nearly here yet' expectations.

Tallalime · 19/02/2015 11:01

Oops forgot to change my name back! GFC is me - one of my three many aliases

Tallalime · 19/02/2015 11:03

I won't be doing the NCT classes - the woman who ran them when I was having DD was awful. She really upset me (had to have CS, she did not approve and was very vocal about it). But I have signed up for their pregnancy yoga from 12 weeks - will hopefully meet some fellow pregnant mums that way.

Sundaysmumisfullofwine · 19/02/2015 11:24

Place marking. Nothing new here. Booking appointment Tuesday, feels like it has taken forever to come around

TheMidnightHour · 19/02/2015 11:27

Morning all! Apart from needing to sleep 10+ hours a night, I'm feeling pretty good.

I signed up for NCT classes after we had our early private scan. There's only one that we can get to & groups are small so I thought why wait? It doesn't start until June though. I'm hoping to find out more about what's standards / available locally & meet some people as I don't know anyone (apart from on here) who has had a kid in this area.

Still waiting to hear dates for a scan. Am at 12+3 & really need some advance warning as hospital is 30m away in the opposite direction from DP's work, so he'll need a morning/afternoon off.

DeladionInch · 19/02/2015 11:33

I've made more friends through groups - breastfeeding and church playgroups - than classes, but it was nice to have familiar faces when stumbling round town in a sleep deprived haze Grin

Hare5260 · 19/02/2015 11:34

ljeffro I am so sorry. Sending love and light.

GooRoo fantastic news, made up for you Smile

Kitty I'm 12+1 today (think you are about the same?) and I've held out getting my hair done, but have an appt for next week - couldn't handle the roots any longer!

Hope you all have a lovely day, sickness stays at bay and scans are positive x

shinjuku09 · 19/02/2015 11:37

Oh yes meant to say, NCT classes can get very booked up. Our friends completely missed out on it as they didn't book early enough. Think I booked them at start of second trimester. We were very very lucky in that our facilitator was lovely. She had no problem with covering c-sections or pros and cons of pain relief. Lucky as two women had a c-section and the rest had forceps or ventouse. We were all planning water births Grin. Even though she was quite moderate they still didn't make it clear to us just how many first-time mums have assisted births.

NatalieBee · 19/02/2015 11:45

Shamelessly place markingSmile Nothing new here, awaiting my 12 week scan tmorrow at 9:20am!

HaveTeaWillSurvive · 19/02/2015 11:46

I had a great nct group, only a couple have fallen away as they've moved and the facilitator was pretty laid back, if a little pro-natural. I'm fact I can't wait till the scan as the two girls I see most often are already pregnant so we can have round two of weekly cake and moan sessions! My Nhs ones were really poor in comparison, nowhere near the focus on socialising and it never seemed to be the same people there!

Toffeegirl39 · 19/02/2015 11:47

Hi all, my friend told me about these antenatal groups and I thought I would say hello.
I'm 39, Live in Gloucestershire, I have 2 boys aged 12 and 13, and pregnant with my 3rd (different partner)
Scan tomorrow and I'm really nervous as I'm now an 'older mum' and petrified something will go wrong. breezed through the last 2 pregnancies
(in my 20s!) and sudden;y it all seems a bit terrifying! I also feel enormous already...! Would be great to share some experiences and make friends on here.

lastnightiwenttomanderley · 19/02/2015 11:52

DoctorDonna we've got the same date for our scans, counting down! So glad that its before mothers day and can tell the grandparents.

Maths my MW specifically said that she wasn't going to look as the chances of her finding it were slim so it was more likely to worry than reassure me. Bit unfair of her to do it for you to be honest.

Just had a baby magazine through for the woman who lived here 6 months ago...would it be wrong to open it? No idea where they moved to, so not like we could forward it on either.

monkeymoonpig · 19/02/2015 11:55

hare im 12+1 today too Smile

GoooRooo · 19/02/2015 11:57

Toffee hello! I'm ancient - I'm 40 and will be 41 when the baby arrives.

lastnight I'd read it

Toffeegirl39 · 19/02/2015 11:59

Hi Gooo- you're not much older than me, I'm 40 in October! We can be ancient together. Smile

GoooRooo · 19/02/2015 12:03

Great stuff. Wonder if I can attach a buggy to a zimmer frame? Wink

Toffeegirl39 · 19/02/2015 12:03

Does anyone know if I'm meant to have blood tests at my 12 week scan
(tomorrow!) haven't had any blood taken yet and can't remember what my midwife said...
DP will be with me so I hope they take it- I'm prone to feeling faint at blood tests, I blame my low BP but probably I'm just a big baby!! Blush

Treaclepie19 · 19/02/2015 12:04

I've had my flu jab! Another thing crossed off the list.

Feeling sorry for myself though with a sore arm, having to walk ages to the doctors because there was no parking and my car is now making a funny noise! :(

Tallalime · 19/02/2015 12:06

Hi Toffee

I am in Glos. too - only moved here in January so still getting to know the area. Hoping this pregnancy will help me make some friends Grin

I am 35 - also second pregnancy, DD will be nearly 8 when this one arrives.

Whatabout · 19/02/2015 12:07

Toffee I had bloods at 12 weeks for the NT combined screening, think it is standard and if you didn't have booking bloods they'll do those too.

ditzzy · 19/02/2015 12:15

2 bits of NHS post have arrived for me and neither is a scan date!! I do now have my exemption certificate though, so that's one thing off the list, and a letter telling me to avoid spotty people, as my rubella immunity has come back as not good enough from the blood test a few weeks back.

I guess at least that means I'm in the system - and if that's the worst thing they can think to send a letter about after so many blood tests, then I must be doing ok Grin
