Chuch my sore boobs seemed to disappear over night a couple of weeks ago and I'm 11+5 I had a scan Monday so I know everything is ok so try not to worry - I know very well that's easier said than done!

SomewhereovertheRainbow02 · 26/02/2015 14:55

I had an awful dream last night that i went to scan and my baby had died Hmm so i was straight up and got my Doppler out and there was his heartbeat! So glad i bought one of those!
Feeling quite skinny again today but will probably look and feel about 6 months pregnant by bedtime!
Only 5 sleeps now until scan! I can not wait.

Good luck today worry! I'm sure everything will be fine.

Jessica32 · 26/02/2015 15:40

A friend of mine 're-registered her son after they got married. She said the same, that any children they went on to have after they married would have more rights. Seems old fashioned but there we are. I guess that was about 4 or 5 yrs ago.

Tallalime · 26/02/2015 17:29

Yeah it's technically a legal requirement under the legitimacy act I believe. Though it seemed pointless when DD was our only, we'll reregister her now just in case (though I doubt they actually pay much attention to the notion of 'illegitimacy' these days).

Finally got my scan date through - I am 10+5, it's on 11th March... less than two weeks to wait Grin let the paranoia begin

Quick bit of advice.

I'm heading to London tomorrow for a weekend with dh - we are going to see a musical and heading to a couple of Michelin starred restaurants - not the norm for us but booked due to dh getting a bonus.

Anyways in one of the restaurants the steak is meant to be out of this world but I normally eat my steak rare. Now I know on the Internet you will see loads of conflicting advice but I just wondered what people on here's thoughts were?

Tallalime · 26/02/2015 17:34

I am avoiding steak because I like it rare too. Though if it was at a Michelin starred restaurant I would probably risk it and ask for it on the rare side of medium - compromise you know (I assume a starred chef can actually cook a steak medium)

Whatabout · 26/02/2015 17:51

I still eat steak rare as there is no toxoplasmosis in the uk beef herd based on my research therefore no risk. I would not eat pink lamb as there is toxoplasmosis in sheep quite regularly.

Hare5260 · 26/02/2015 17:54

Maths we went out for steak last night, I too normally eat mine rare. DW wasn't keen on me having anything other than well done (never going to happen) so we compromised on medium. Still a decent amount of red, not quite as delicious didn't feel like eating it when it arrived anyway

Enjoy x

SpamAnderson · 26/02/2015 17:55

If I could stomach meat right now, I wouldn't see any harm in eating a rare steak, maybe slightly more done than I normally do though. Rare but not blue for example, I like mine just cooked on the outside so the middle still looks pretty raw. I'd probably go for just a little blood rather than mooing though :)

THEworrywart · 26/02/2015 17:55

My due date it between two dates aug 31st and sept 1st think I'm going to stay here though because everyone in august will be ahead of me!

Is anyone planning to find out their sex when they do your anomaly scan? A while away I know but still

lastnightiwenttomanderley · 26/02/2015 17:57

I ate some biltong earlier naughty

I normally have mine blue so would possibly ask for it slightly more well done! Have been subbing steak for tuna as can freeze that then eat it raw.

Where are you going,maths?

Cornberry · 26/02/2015 18:04

maths I'm a bit of a collector of Michelin stars and I think it might almost be a shame to eat a steak in really amazing restaurant - the innovative, original dishes are the best :) unless it's somewhere like maze or St. John which is meat specialising? I'm well jealous. I'm desperate for a nice meal out and I'm still living mostly on potatoes! Enjoy :)

Maths88 · 26/02/2015 18:07

We are going to Dinner by Heston Blumenthal and Fera at Claridges. I've never been to a Michelin starred restaurant in my life and now we are off to two!

Thanks for the advice guys I think I'll just get it medium and enjoy it, it is a one off and these places should have good quality meat!

Gotta pack for our trip and no idea what to wear as I feel bloated all the time so most of my nicer dresses would look awful! May have to nip to the shops in London when we get there - much better at catering for larger ladies like me in London than where we live currently despite it being a capital city itself!

Jessica32 · 26/02/2015 18:09

I would not eat a well done steak! I ate pink beef a couple of weeks ago and loved it. I will probably compromise and just have it less often but still pink when I do! Naughty but nice. Yum!Wink

Jessica32 · 26/02/2015 18:12

Worry did your scan go we'll? I hope you enjoyed seeing your baby and feel better now.

lastnightiwenttomanderley · 26/02/2015 18:12

cornberry snap! DH and I are working our way through the guide.

maths you'll have an incredible time, enjoy it! We used to live near Bray so were spoilt. Now our nearest is good old Uncle Ray at Le Manoir.

THEworrywart · 26/02/2015 18:18

jessica yes thanks was really unimpressed that I had to sit on a ward with a woman who was clearly distressed I was there as she had gone into early labour and I was waiting for a scan :/

So excited now my mum went and bought bibs and hats straight away the loon!

Cornberry · 26/02/2015 18:25

lastnight wow that is fortunate! It's so beautiful around Oxford. I've done fat duck and manoir. Saving waterside inn for my wedding if I ever marry a millionaire! Top of my list now is le gavroche. My oh had booked it for Valentine's day and had to cancel because of all the vomiting - we were gutted.

maths went to Dinner in November - it was pretty great. Had an amazing cheesecake for dessert. Ohhh I miss food!

Jessica32 · 26/02/2015 18:27

Worry That's great, I'm glad it went well and your mum and you can now enjoy it.

I guess people being there in distress is inevitable. I was the one there bleeding and worried on Tuesday with lots of happy expectant mums all around me. Isn't lovely that way round either.

Kittykitty05 · 26/02/2015 18:31

So, just had a call from hosp, seems my scan and bloods have given me a 1 in 25 chance of baby having downs. I equate this to a 4% chance which seems pretty low, midwife obviously felt differently. I'm being offered further testing but that carries risk.
Also my PAPP-A hormone was showing as low, which could have caused the high downs result, but could indicate other things. They are going to do further testing for that at 23 weeks, and i've got to take daily asprin as a precaution for something(!).
Anyone got any experience with the low PPAP-A thing?

Whatabout · 26/02/2015 19:23

Kitty is the harmony test an option? That is non invasive. Worrying time but as you say 96% chsnce bsby is fine.

Kittykitty05 · 26/02/2015 20:05

The mw suggested the Harmony test, but it's £400, and tbh if I was told I'd a greater risk of downs I'd not terminate.
It's this PAPP-A thing worrying me, I've stupidly googled it and it can apparently lead to low birth weight, placental problems and still birth Confused

Whatabout · 26/02/2015 20:52

Last pregnancy they couldn't do the measurement for nuchal fold and I didnt want any further testing as I wouldn't have done anything either. Pappa-a I don't know about maybe post on pregnancy or the pregnancy choices board?

BizzieBoo · 26/02/2015 20:59

Wow I need to catch up! First scan today and everything seems fine! Grin Baby is measuring a week less than I thought so they put me at 11+2 instead of 12+4 but hey ho! :) xx

Toffeegirl39 · 26/02/2015 21:14

2 letters from hospital today with anomaly scan date and ante natal
Clinic to see consultant. No letter about my Downs screening. Feel like I'm going slowly mad...
