Teach not reach

DoctorDonnaNoble · 25/02/2015 08:18

STEM = science, tech and maths.

THEworrywart · 25/02/2015 08:21

Does it not depend on your area? Most girls from my school(s) have gone Into stem subjects mostly engineering to be precise!

Jessica32 · 25/02/2015 08:22

I do feel sorry for those of you who have to out yourselves at work earlier than you'd like, it must be annoying. My sister works in paediatric intensive care and says everyone knows practically the first week when anyone gets pregnant because they deal with so many diseases and equipment you can't be near when pregnant.

Chuch21 · 25/02/2015 08:31

I'm proud to be an engineer, I work in an office with a about 40 men and 3 women...

More pg related I have abdominal pain, but not cramping, more like I've done 100 sit-ups. And I feel hungry yet gassy/acid reflux which makes me feel like there's no room in there, it's really bizarre.
Still no sore boobies and this horrid cold hasn't shifted so I hope it's not affecting bean in any way Sad

THEworrywart · 25/02/2015 08:32

Chuch colds won't affect your baby stay hydrated and keep your temp down :)

Whatabout · 25/02/2015 08:46

My all girls school wouldn't run fashion and fabrics a level although I had sufficient numbers as per their dictat. They made me do biology instead.

I did go on eventually to do Chem and physics later on and become a radiographer and a STEM ambassador though!

My girls grammar was all about the STEM and lots did product design and resistant materials type subjects. Lots of engineers from my bunch too!

MyNameIsSuz · 25/02/2015 08:47

Urgh, I'm feeling I'll today too, crazy headache and paracetamol hasn't touched it. Luckily I'm working from home, I think I feel a lunchtime nap coming on Smile

Deladion, I had a couple of weddings last time and used a dress company called Hire Expectations, they hire out designer maternity dresses for a fraction of what they cost to buy. You just order online and they send you two sizes, then you send them back after. Could be a good option if you want two dresses to wear once each, they have some lovely ones too.

DoctorDonnaNoble · 25/02/2015 09:11

Oh god I'm totally exhausted! I have 9 out of 10 periods teaching today, a revision class at lunch and we're meant to be going out tonight Confused

MyNameIsSuz · 25/02/2015 09:29

Ten periods DrDonna?!! I think when I was at school we had five! Tell me they're short lessons and you're not going to be at work for ten hours? I do feel for you ladies with active jobs, it must be exhausting.

Maths88 · 25/02/2015 10:32

10 lessons Donna? How short are they? I found if difficult moving from 5 at my last school to 6 where I am now!

Meeting with a mortgage advisor tonight to get the ball rolling on house buying - very exciting!

Lovely scans - one week til mine!

SomewhereovertheRainbow02 · 25/02/2015 11:46

I am literally dropping off at my desk in work. When will this tiredness end? Im 12 weeks today and I need some energy back.

sauvblanc21 · 25/02/2015 12:06

Thanks guys - you're the best Smile
Went back to sleep til 11am, and have now managed to force down water, a crumpet, piece of toast (with peanut butter, mmm) and some milk. Feeling so much better than yday xx (might be able to treat myself to some marking soon - woohoo!)

DeladionInch · 25/02/2015 12:47

I'm hoping I'll get away with it. Apart from trousers, a lot of my clothes last time weren't specifically maternity and other than slightly pudgy too many bacon butties I'm nowhere near showing yet. I still carry my 29lb toddler on my back a couple of times a week so have better abs now than ever before!!

MyNameIsSuz · 25/02/2015 12:48

I've cracked - I have just bought myself some preggo leggings, I was going to wait until after my scan but waistbands are killing me! Ahh, I'd forgotten how good these feel, all being well I'll dig out everything else on Monday night.

DoctorDonnaNoble · 25/02/2015 13:32

Each lesson is 30 minutes. Most are doubles.

Mummyboo30 · 25/02/2015 13:54

I hope you're feeling better Sauv you really don't need to feel guilty!

Told DD yesterday, she's very pleased and keeps asking me if the baby is still in my tummy. :)
Also, I swear I have been feeling the tiniest little nudges from the little'un. Is that possible with my second at 13+1? I definitely felt movement during the scan when I saw baby rolling around in there!

Toffeegirl39 · 25/02/2015 13:54

Am I going mad - 13+5 and keep thinking I'm
Feeling baby move when lygon mg on my right side. Anyone else? Or is this impossible? Had horrendous hot flushes last night. And achy all over :( rubbish!! In bed today. Saw doc who says I just need to rest.

Toffeegirl39 · 25/02/2015 14:03

mummyboo snap!!

Mummyboo30 · 25/02/2015 14:10

:) toffee I guess it must be possible then!

Mummytogoldie · 25/02/2015 14:27

I have been in maternity trousers for 2 weeks, none of my other trousers fit!!! Dd2 split my tummy muscles from top to bottom when I was pregnant with her and they never really knitted back together so I think they have split again :( I am going for my scan tomorrow and worried sick incase I have had a mmc, because I had a mc beginning if December :(

Toffeegirl39 · 25/02/2015 14:34

mummytogoldie
I was really worried before my scan too because of m/c last year. Try not to worry.

Toffeegirl39 · 25/02/2015 14:36

And my jeans haven't fit me since I was 8 weeks!! Strictly leggings and tunics, but ordinary leggings getting too tight now. Smile

BeakyAndBun · 25/02/2015 14:47

So after two days of quietly freaking out over the lack of information at my scan and the very high NT measurement I thought I saw, I called the midwife and then the hospital. Both called me back, and it turns out that actually I am an idiot. The NT scan was 1.3mm and my bloods were really low risk as well. However, everyone was very sympathetic and apologetic that we were not told anything on the day. Apparently we were meant to be given scan notes there and then which would have of course meant avoiding two days of worry! I nearly poured milk on my toast when I finally ate breakfast twenty minutes ago! Thanks to everyone who reassured me!

THEworrywart · 25/02/2015 14:47

I need maternity pants I'm a size 4/6 normally but even 10s aren't fastening on me now everything looks daft around my legs I don't want to buy anything though because I'm convinced I'm getting bad news tomorrow! Wish I wasn't so pessimistic.

Mummy my scan is tomorrow too I'm scared about mmc :( good luck xx
