SpamAnderson · 21/02/2015 20:24

From last time, I was told 4 in the first trimester, then the main amount of weight in the second trimester and a few lbs more in the last trimester. I'd lost 11lbs by 10 weeks but I think I've put 1 or 2 back on this week as my appetite is back with a vengeance.
I have a doppler and I love it, it gives me reassurance but I know I'd panic a tonne if I couldn't find him when I tried. I'm doing every other day so I don't get too obsessed. If you can resist using it for a little while ag, then I'd give it a rest at least until your uterus moves up. I make sure when I use it, I'm relaxed and have a reasonably full bladder so he's up as far as possible. If you have a look at youtube there are vids on there of ladies finding the heart beats, I have to do the same, suck my tummy in and go as close to my pubic bone as possible, push down and aim underneath the bone. I start in the middle and move tiny bits sideways. I find he moves a hell of a lot but he's normally to one side. My friend had the mw listen in to all 3 of her babies at 16 weeks and even then she couldn't find them! They were there and healthy, but it can be tricky to find, even then. There's a reason most mws won't even attempt to listen until 16 weeks :)
I know dopplers are a love them or hate them kind of thing, I wish I could be one of those people who can just believe everything is ok, but I'm just not one of them, plus I'm still finding it incredibly hard to believe that I am actually pregnant!

alien11 · 21/02/2015 20:29

messymoo my early scan put me at 5+6 and I had myself at 7+5. So I wouldn't worry about a few days I on the others and haven't relaxed since that scan and won't until I get to 12wk scan and see a baby at the right size there

SpamAnderson · 21/02/2015 20:30

Those talking about weight gain.... Here's something online :) but we're all different, I know of someone who gained only 9lbs and another who gained 8 stone! I gained around 3 stone with both dds!

If your pre-pregnancy weight was in the healthy range for your height (a BMI of 18.5 to 24.9), you should gain between 25 and 35 pounds, gaining 1 to 5 pounds in the first trimester and about 1 pound per week for the rest of your pregnancy for the optimal growth of your baby.
If you were underweight for your height at conception (a BMI below 18.5), you should gain 28 to 40 pounds.
If you were overweight for your height (a BMI of 25 to 29.9), you should gain 15 to 25 pounds. If you were obese (a BMI of 30 or higher), you should gain between 11 and 20 pounds.
If you're having twins, you should gain 37 to 54 pounds if you started at a healthy weight, 31 to 50 pounds if you were overweight, and 25 to 42 pounds if you were obese.

Guavasforbreakfast · 21/02/2015 20:43

Congrats on all the scans! messy DS was 8 days behind on our 8 week scan, but it was fine - I don't think a week or so either way matters as long as everything else looks normal, ovulation dates vary so much.

monkey similar here with being ignored because he was putting on weight - I struggled so much with the pain caused by DS' lip tie, and he was clearly uncomfortable too, taking in too much air and constant green poo, but kept being told he was fine. In the end I battled through it with support and it eventually tore naturally around 9 months when he fell onto the wash basket! meinthecorner I want to insist this one gets checked for both tongue and lip tie as early as possible too, don't want to go through that again!!

envious can you add me too? Only use my phone, don't have my own computer now that I'm not teaching in a school and can't figure out DH's macbook (even if he'd let me near the thing!). 2nd baby (have a nearly 19 month old DS), 29 years old, EDD 8.09.15, scan 2nd March. Hoping to be booked in for an ELCS at Leeds General Infirmary, consultant led if so (fingers crossed).

SomewhereovertheRainbow02 · 21/02/2015 21:31

I tried my home Doppler again today after an hour of finding nothing last night and after 10 mins of my partner searchin we found the heartbeat!
I am definitely pro dopplers now. It has put my mind at rest that my baby is still ok in there!
Only 10 sleeps till scan Smile

I've put on 9lb in 12 weeks. I was a little worried until my mum told me she put on most of her weight in the first 12 weeks. So I guess i'm going to be like her... Sangria don't worry xx

lastnightiwenttomanderley · 22/02/2015 07:55

Thanks all, off to buy prune juice later (yum....).

Had a fab meal with ILs last night. Pigeon breast (rare = naughty), sea bream and stem ginger cheesecake. How 'strict' is everyone bring with food? I'm generally being well behaved and finding ways around it e.g. freezing tuna so I can still have sashimi.

SpamAnderson · 22/02/2015 08:07

Yay somewhere that's fab :D I tried again last night and found he's moved up a fair bit since before, noticed my tummy felt different so think it must be my uterus getting higher. Think he was doing laps of the back stroke or something as I kept only catching a few seconds of him at a time, little bugger! I love my doppler, was the best £30 I have ever spent! 12 days to my scan, I'm so bloody excited :D got my eldest's pre op before then though which I'm seriously not looking forward to but I've kept my diary really quiet from now until 2 weeks after her op so only a couple of orders to do so that time normally flies by :(
DH asked me last night what I wanted for Mother's Day and said he was going to book me a private scan at 16 weeks (which I was going to do anyway) but book me somewhere further away and get another DVD recording done like we did with dd1 :D we watched it last night, it was magical :) we couldn't afford to have one done with dd2 which was a massive shame though :(

SpamAnderson · 22/02/2015 08:14

lastnight I'm being semi strict, actually probably not that strict at all to be fair. I was strict with dd1, bit more relaxed with dd2 and this one? Well, I have 1 or 2 of those Nescafé Irish cream lattes a week but everything else is decaf, no caffeinated soft drinks, an occasional tin of tuna (which I avoided completely in the last 2 pregnancies) dd1 was born when we were told no peanuts of peanut products allowed at all, I ate none with her or dd2, but I'm eating peanut butter every day this time. I'm not eating meat as I don't fancy it but if I fancy a steak, I will have it to my normal taste, mooing on my plate! Runny eggs are essential! I love my seafood, I have so far resisted the sea bass in the freezer, but I will be chewing down on it. I eat raw cake batter basically every day and had non-baked cheesecake last night. Oh and I'm totally eating soft serve ice cream too :D

MyNameIsSuz · 22/02/2015 08:15

Morning everyone! 12 weeks today and suddenly feeling crap Sad. And my stomach feels a bit firm, heavy, sore and tender this morning and was uncomfortable to lie on - pretty sure this happened at least a month later than this last time!

MyNameIsSuz · 22/02/2015 08:21

And lastnight, I'm being ok with food but not really eating my greens and the thing I am struggling with the most is caffeine. Have cut down to about two cups of tea a day, I think guidelines mean you can have up to five, but I'm getting more in the form of chocolate. I really want to cut down a lot as I had around 3 cups of tea a day with ds and would like this baby to be a little bigger if possible (he was 6.7lb and very sleepy, we really struggled to get feeding established), the Dr said caffeine was important! Last time they told me it would make no difference and the guidelines were aimed more at people drinking buckets of coke. I drank a lot of green tea last time and am trying to get back into it.

Jessica32 · 22/02/2015 08:32

Lastnight I'm eating runny eggs but lion stamped so they're vaccinated against salmonella. Also raw cake mix with them. Had very rare roast beef last week, loved every bite and didn't feel guilty at all (prob sounds bad!) Cooked prawns which I believe are ok anyway. Have kept away from pate though Which I love.

Whatabout · 22/02/2015 08:53

So the people who didn't know I was pregnant now know I'm pregnant after dinner last night. Both the girls cornered me. I don't mind them knowing and the fact I was driving and not drinking was a massive give away.

I'm not being strict with eating, last time I drank tonnes of caffeine the whole time and had an epidural and my DS was 8.7lbs and not sleepy so I guess I was lucky!

Treaclepie19 · 22/02/2015 08:55

llama it comes up in my last viewed in Google sheets.

Glad to hear everyone's not being too strict with the food. I haven't had a runny egg yet but I want one!!!!!!!
