We are already nearing the halfway point! Some of us have already reached the 20 weeks, the rest will follow suit. Let the countdowns begin!

Here is the stats list, please update them with your scan dates and the sex of you baby (if you know it):

sherbet you should use corsodyl mouthwash and rinse twice a day with it, when it calms down then make sure you are gently flossing regularly.

Fattycow · 20/03/2015 09:07

My gums bleed whenever I brush my teeth. I showed my dentist (he is a friend of mine, so that helps) and he agrees that it is just hormonal in my case, they aren't infected. After I've brushed, I wait for the bleeding to stop, which is normally very quickly. Then I put some toothpaste on the top of my finger and apply that directly to my teeth to get rid of the taste of blood. I don't rinse, just let the paste 'dissolve'.

Yep pregnancy can cause issues with gums and teeth which is why it's important to have your teeth checked during pregnancy and why in the UK our maternity excemption covers dentistry. As an aside did you know you aren't meant to rinse after you've brushed your teeth anyway as it doesn't allow the fluoride in the toothpaste to do it's job.

Fattycow · 20/03/2015 09:57

I mean no rinsing after applying the extra layer of paste to them! I do rinse to get the blood out though, which I normally didn't do.

fatty I'd rinse the blood to. I find it really hard not to rinse after brushing my teeth. Feels wierd not to. Hard to break habits!

Naty1 · 20/03/2015 10:30

I still rinse as fluoride isnt good for thyroid function. Dentist earlier in the week wasnt concerned about my gums bleeding.

BadIdeaBear · 20/03/2015 10:47

My gums were bad for quite a few weeks between about 17 and 20 weeks pg. I used cursedly toothpaste and mouthwash and it's cleared it up for now. Holding onto the stuff for when/ if it comes back. Not the nicest tasting toothpaste but it did its job!

BadIdeaBear · 20/03/2015 10:47

Cursedly!!! Brilliant autocorrect - I did curse the taste a few times, I guess.... Corsodyl is what I intended to type...

Fattycow · 20/03/2015 11:19

That typo is awesome! Grin

I wanted to kidnap my nephew earlier this week. He is only 9 months and I have everything I need for a baby of that age. Cloth nappies, a pram, bottles and formula 2 (which he is on). What else does a little boy need? Unfortunately, his mum didn't agree with me and she wanted to keep him... I was going to give him back!

Aah that's a lovely age, fatty. We were saying the other day that although we loved having a newborn, the days can be so repetitive and mind numbing, especially with sleep deprivation, we felt that between six and 12 months was the phase where things started to click into place and we started to settle down a bit more. Although having said that, right now I adore having my toddler, she's so much fun. Today, we decided to plant some flowers in her first pair of wellies (I didn't have the heart to throw them out as they're sentimental to us and she's a keen gardener even a week short of three so kinda made sense!)

ohlordyplordy · 20/03/2015 20:22

'like' broody - that's such a cute idea.

BadIdeaBear · 20/03/2015 22:36

Oh yes, that's a lovely idea, broody!

Fattycow · 21/03/2015 00:03

My OH has felt some kick last few days. He's over the moon.

smallgreenbanana · 21/03/2015 12:52

broody that is gorgeous. Green fingers are a wonderful gift :)

charlie how lovely for you and OH. Smile DH would like to feel more involved in the pregnancy - it's difficult to help beyond bump massage and feeling kicks. Seems so much more obvious to us doesn't it?

WiIdfire · 21/03/2015 21:00

Im planning on taking 52 weeks off then the accumulated annual leave. My job involves 13-14 hour days, with some 24 hour shifts and some 48 hour shifts, so its going to be hard to bf with that sort of rota. Therefore taking as long as possible really. It is possible to go back part time but its quite hard to arrange and makes you unpopular, so I'll have to see how I get on during the leave.

Fattycow · 22/03/2015 09:37

My DH really enjoys the kicks as well!

Hey, hope everyone is having a lovely weekend. Quick update from me - my Grandma's funeral was on Friday, was a really lovely (if v sad) service, perfect way to say goodbye, and after feeling really exhausted all week I now feel normal again so think it was partly all the emotion tiring me out.
I'm 22+1 now and a few people have told me I 'actually look pregnant' - which I guess is a sneaky way of saying I just looked fat before Hmm
Also finally got our first items for the baby - a bundle of nearly-new good quality teeny tiny vests from someone OH knows. Can't believe there's going to be someone wearing them in just a few months!
Hope everyone is feeling ok, and congrats to notthatdeep - boys rock Wink

Fattycow · 22/03/2015 18:41

I'm glad the funeral was lovely. Flowers
