urghh, pregnancy and flu don't mix! being tired through growing a bean is bad enough but then topping that with a cough and cold that won't let me rest is awful!!

re healthy snacks, raw carrots seem to help and stop my nausea, I think its the crunchiness and the fat they are naturally 'wet' if that makes sense?!

Sorry to hear about the bleeding, Blue. I'd echo what others say about getting checked out though. lt could be good news but even if it is a miscarriage, you should be checked after the bleeding stops to make sure that nothing is left behind.

For nausea, I'm finding nothing beats Cup-a-soup. I never bought it before I was pregnant but it really seems to stop me actually vomiting and is one of the few things that doesn't give me indigestion (even plain cold water is giving me indigestion at the moment; I can only drink it hot!). I'm on the Batchelor's Minestrone. It isn't particularly healthy in itself but I find after having that I can eat a proper healthy meal or snack which would have made me feel sick or given me indigestion beforehand. I think it's all the starch in it.

Dried fruit is good too. I have that by the bed for when I wake up and also for on the train. I don't need much; just a mouthful helps.

orangeshortbread · 19/02/2015 13:08

Sorry blue to read your post - take care of yourself.
I'm feeling the nausea too, this week it seems to have ramped up a bit. With my first pregnancy I didn't get any sickness at all until about 8 weeks so I am surprised to have it so early this time round. I don't normally put sugar in tea but I'm finding that (decaf) tea with half a tsp sugar in is helping.
A letter came through this morning with my 12 wk scan appointment on for April - seems like a long way off!

Fizzy13 · 19/02/2015 13:17

So sorry blue hope you've been to get checked out.

I have some days when I feel sick almost constantly and its worse when I move quickly. Those days I seem to eat constantly in order to keep it at bay. Then other days when I vomit in the morning I feel much better only feeling off when I'm getting hungry.

Breadsticks and philadelphia seem to be the cure all at the moment!

bluewisteria · 19/02/2015 13:59

Thanks ladies, I really appreciate your support. I took a first response and it was totally negative. So I'm pretty sure I'm out. I have a history of early mc, this is now my 8th or 9th I think. But another month I'll be back! We are moving house and renovating so might give it a good 6 months before trying again xxx

gaggiagirl · 19/02/2015 14:12

blue that's so awful. I cant imagine how hard that must be. So sorry.

gingerbreadmam · 19/02/2015 14:16

im so sorry blue such sad news. is your gp aware of all ur mcs? is there nothing anyone can do to help for future? probably a silly question i know.

Mumwannabe82 · 19/02/2015 14:26

So sorry blue Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks

Mumwannabe82 · 19/02/2015 14:29

Another couple of hours till my scan, keeping everything crossed Hmm

I do have lots of support in real life which helps alot and bf knows how to keep me smiling even in dire situations xx

LakeOfDreams · 19/02/2015 14:44

Good luck mum hope everything goes well got my fingers crossed for you

Bambino29 · 19/02/2015 15:12

So sorry blue - Hope you're doing ok.
Good luck mum - thinking of you this afternoon.

alien11 · 19/02/2015 15:46

Good luck mummy

Lifeunexpected · 19/02/2015 15:55

So sorry Blue. Thinking of you.

I made an extra visit to Asda's just to buy different varieties of crackers, ready salted Pringles, ready salted mini chip sticks and pop corn. They seem to help. Of course, not heathy at all! Completely agree that the nausea is at its worse when my stomach is empty and when I'm cooking (it's the smells!).

Finally got a call from the midwife & have my first appointment on the 6th March. Only 4 weeks until the scan now. Can't wait! xxx

LooksLikeImStuckHere · 19/02/2015 16:03

Hope all goes ok Mum

AngusAndElspethsThistleWhistle · 19/02/2015 16:09

Thinking of you mum.

Finally have my booking in appointment for 25th Feb. Will be 8+6. Scan booked for 23rd March.

For any Edinburgh dwellers, ABC4D are doing reassurance scans for £49 just now. Normally £99 Smile

Linguaphile · 19/02/2015 16:34

Hope all goes okay mum, what time is your scan?

Great news on the appointments Angus! Very exciting.

alien11 · 19/02/2015 16:41

angus that's great re appts! Your booking appt is couple of days before mine :-) I'll be 8+2 when I have mine but going by LMP I should have been 10 weeks!

When are you all getting your scan dates?havent got one yet

Cineraria · 19/02/2015 17:01

That's great Angus. I have my booking the same day as you and my scan booked for the 20th March. I'll be 9+1 at the booking and 12+3 at the scan.

Hope all went well today, Mum!

Oh, another thing I like to eat to combat nausea is banana and blackcurrant jam sandwiches with wholemeal bread. Even the smell of them stops it in its tracks. So strange!

AngusAndElspethsThistleWhistle · 19/02/2015 17:19

Thanks guys Grin

alien, my lmp is out too. My due date should be 25th Sept going by lmp, but is more like 1st Oct.

alien11 · 19/02/2015 17:19

Have you booked your own scans or have they come through from local hospital?or does mw start the process in some places?

AngusAndElspethsThistleWhistle · 19/02/2015 17:30

I had to self refer by calling a central number. I was able to arrange both appointments on the phone.

When I lived in SW London I had to wait for a letter with the dates. Took ages!

Cineraria · 19/02/2015 17:31

Alien, where I live, the GP contacts the midwife and they send you details of the booking appointment at the local hospital and a note to say they've requested a scan at another hospital. Then that hospital sends the scan date through a few days later.

All the other GP, midwife and scan appointments are arranged by the midwives after the booking appointment, I think.

Toast85 · 19/02/2015 18:10

I've just seen the GP today and she's referring to mw, who will contact me by post with dates. Fingers crossed I get the letter through soon. We go away during my 12th week and would love to have the scan before we go!

Grainwhole · 19/02/2015 18:20

Ooh, can I join please?! BFP yesterday - think I'm 4 and a bit weeks! :)

AngusAndElspethsThistleWhistle · 19/02/2015 19:03
