That's exactly my thoughts but it's actually my sept 2011 mn group on fb that slated me for even considering actually skiing! I'm not very good so go slow and will take extra care. When I was pregnant with dd I went skiing @8 wks and b4 I went doc said"if anything happens it will be nothing to do with keeping fit while skiing!"
Just got to hope that no one ploughs into me badly! I have an instructor one on one for an hr a day then dh is skiing behind me so I'll be ok. Having afternoons off as dd only in kids club for the morning.

I'm the same- not getting excited until 12 wks then won't relax until 20 so basically months of worrying!

batfish · 21/02/2015 14:20

Ah that's a shame that they've made you feel bad - as long as you're not taking unnecessary risks I really don't see the problem. Every time we leave the house we could have a car accident or slip on a wet floor so we can't just stay in bed for 9 months and wrap ourselves in cotton wool. The ceiling might collapse on us and then where would we be Grin

gaggiagirl · 21/02/2015 14:48

bat ooh to stay in bed for 9 months....yes please!

Toast85 · 21/02/2015 16:33

I do totally get where you're all coming from, I'm worrying about it all too.
But I just wanted to tell you all....
WE'RE PREGNANT!!!!!! GrinGrinGrinGrin
I tell myself this when I'm getting anxious, and ok it doesn't stop the worrying, but it does make me so happy. It's an amazing thing! And even if the worst happens, I DO want to remember feeling this happy about it. Smile

townsender · 21/02/2015 17:02

I definitely believe it today.
Feeling totally BLEEUUUUUURRGGGGGHHHHH
Must be because it's a quiet Saturday without the distraction of work
Roll on 12 weeks!
Booking appt is on Wednesday (got moved from Monday, grrr). Anyone else got theirs this week?

LadyStark · 21/02/2015 17:26

Glad the worrying isn't just me. I had the tiniest little bit of brown blood when wiping - squint and you'd miss it. Makes me spin straight into panic mode.

I had spotting with DD so not unexpected (and I'm not even sure it deserves the name spotting). I have been bloody exhausted today too.

I wish there was something I could do to reassure myself, all this waiting kills me!

batfish · 21/02/2015 17:56

OK I'm officially going mad. 7+1 today and I had a scan with a heartbeat 11 days ago. And I just peed on a stick! Was terrified doing it as was convinced that the line would be more faint. But no, mega strong line still, phew. I need to stop this irrational craziness!

Will take a leaf out of toast's book......I'M PREGNANT!!!

Now I just don't know whether to feed the crazy and try to move my next docs appt forward to 1 week away instead of 2 weeks - or whether to try to give myself a talking to and hold out for the one 2 weeks away.

batfish · 21/02/2015 17:59

Hope you're OK ladystark - I'm sure it's nothing but as you've seen I spend a lot of time worrying about nothing so totally get why you would panic. The other day I saw my red nail polish through toilet roll after I wiped and absolutely had a heart attack when I saw bright red, what an idiot!

gaggiagirl · 21/02/2015 18:03

Good lord my red knickers make me panic! If any cm gets on the gusset it looks like blood. I'm chucking them.out!

batfish · 21/02/2015 18:05

Oh sweet baby Jesus, please tell me all our crazy thoughts will ease off at some point, it's taking over every waking second of every day! Do you think we will chill out when we get to 12 weeks or will we then just start coming across second trimester horror stories?!

LadyStark · 21/02/2015 18:23

I am holding on to the fact we will all chill out! [zen face]

batfish · 21/02/2015 18:27

Well I've made a promise to myself that I will chill out after my next docs appt (currently at 9 weeks and I'm trying to be OK with that and not bring it forward) so I'd bloody better do!

crazypuglady · 21/02/2015 18:30

I'm completely the opposite. The few people who do know keep worrying about how I'll cope if it does go wrong because I'm so excited by it. I can't explain why I'm not worried. I know what the chances of miscarriage are now. I know it's possible that something's already gone wrong and I don't know about it yet So I'm not naive to the risks. I don't know what it is and I feel weird that I'm not more anxious.

raggymay · 21/02/2015 18:58

I'm afraid if you are worrying now, you're likely to be worrying at 12 weeks (no scan for 8 weeks!), 20 weeks (before viability) and worst of all- in the final stretch. It's hard but you have to accept that worrying won't help, if something will go wrong then you can't do anything about it. Just try to relax and take it day by day week by week.
I got a 3+ today at 4+5 so my levels are high which is good. I'm quite relaxed this time, I don't know why. DP and I have switched roles, he's terrified something's going to go wrong.

townsender · 21/02/2015 19:13

Everybody, step away from Google! Now!
Remember chance of mc drops EVERY DAY during the first 8 weeks.
And, although miscarriage and baby loss are horrible and something none of us ever want to go through, if the worst happens, so so many people go on to have healthy babies afterwards.

Maybe we need a group chill out session. Hommmmmmmmm.

WinterBabyof89 · 21/02/2015 19:40

I'm with you town hommmmmmmm fake it til you make it

Stinkersmum · 21/02/2015 20:03

Had my first scan today. It looks ok! And there was a very visible heartbeat!!!! YAY!!!!!

gaggiagirl · 21/02/2015 20:08

stinkers how many weeks are you? Did it look like a baby yet? Congratulations on your scan.

Stinkersmum · 21/02/2015 20:10

6+6. Looks nothing like a baby yet and I can't quite work out from either picture given to me what I'm looking at. But I saw the heart beating, and the dr is quite happy with everything. Had abdominal and vaginal scan. He even knew which ovary the egg came from?!

alien11 · 21/02/2015 21:00

Has anyone not had many twinges etc?ive hardly had any which is panicking me a bit as with dd I remember lots

batfish · 22/02/2015 03:21

stinkers that's awesome, you must have been so excited! Were you happy with the healthcare?

alien I haven't had much at all either - when I have had anything it has been quite a bit on one day and then nothing at all on other days so I'm assuming it's growth spurts!

batfish · 22/02/2015 03:23

I think people can have very different pregnancies the second time around, my friend sailed through her first and thought that all pregnant women who complained were being pathetic - then she felt like crap for the whole 9 months through her second. Maybe you get less twinges this time because things are already stretchy from the first time or something?

Stinkersmum · 22/02/2015 05:31

batfish The scan clinic is just that, not a delivery clinic so still not sure of that yet, but as far as scan clinics go, it's amazing. Ultra modern equipment and the Professor I saw was lovely - he's arab, but has worked in Surrey, UK (my home county) which settled me a bit! I know there's still a way to go yet but it was a huge relief seeing the heartbeat. My husband was pretty in awe of it too.

batfish · 22/02/2015 07:00

That's great stinkers - hopefully the rest of the care that you have will be of a high standard too, glad it has settled you a bit. Yeah the heartbeat thing is so cool, really weird but amazing feeling! My husband was the same, couldn't stop grinning and called his mum the second we left the drs!

Twinkletoes007 · 22/02/2015 07:53

Morning all,
Had a friends birthday party last night and I have to say not drinking is the hardest thing. I had a drink in my hand most of the night, did some drink switching with DH and did pretend to drink (feeling guilty because on one occasion I forgot and had a small sip Confused) but wow the night went slowly. Got another party next weekend but I'm going to have to get out of it. I cannot keep up this charade!

Have a scan tomorrow at 5+5. So great to hear of all your positive experiences with them. Hope I get to hear a heartbeat too.
