Congrats sebs!
OH and I got engaged end of January... So nice to have news to tell people. Although I'm a bit worried about them thinking it was done because of the pg... Ah well.

I'm hoping at 9+5 I've escaped ms... Although this constipation really isn't nice! Been running around all morning doing the weekly food shop and looking after my little sister (who will be an auntie at the grand old age of 6) so it's definitely nap time before OH gets in from work!

DeladionInch · 15/02/2015 15:52

we're getting married in may. erm, that's like 3 months Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock

LittleSesameSeed · 15/02/2015 15:59

Bit late- but congratulations seb- what an amazing Valentine's Day!
11 +3 today and feeling more nervous than ever- booking in on weds and they said scan won't be too long after. Looking forward to being able to relax and enjoy the pregnancy.
Sorry to hear about all those with hard family situations- it must be so hard knowing that when you share you news it won't go down well!

Allypin · 15/02/2015 17:46

Just checking in...I'm 11+4 and haven't been sick this morning! Hurrah is this the end of ms?! I bloomin well hope so.

We've had a lovely weekend - we went to choose the fixtures and fittings for our new house on Saturday which was nice and then we have a house viewing tomorrow and then finally scan on Wed. It's been a long slog to scan day but it's nearly here Smile

Treaclepie19 · 15/02/2015 17:59

How long has it taken for everyone's scan dates to come through after booking in?
Had my booking appointment on Friday and so excited to get my scan date.

DoctorDonnaNoble · 15/02/2015 18:02

I got my scan date letter the day after I had the phone call arranging my booking in appointment. I think I was only 5 weeks when I got the letter so feel like I've been waiting ages for the scan already and it's not until the 10th March!

Treaclepie19 · 15/02/2015 18:05

Wow! Gosh that was early.
The midwife should sort mine now, i just hope it comes through quickly.

OP posts:
Stanway · 15/02/2015 18:12

I had to wait until 11 weeks for my scan appointment. I'd been warned it would be later but in the end I phoned to arrange the appointment as I was worried about arranging work around it.

Stanway · 15/02/2015 18:13

For the appointment date to be fixed that is (the scan itself is just under 13 weeks)

StrawberryCheese · 15/02/2015 18:18

When I was 5 weeks I called to sort out my booking in appointment and I was told my scan date at the same time. Had the letters confirming both appointments a few days later.

Whatabout · 15/02/2015 18:23

I got my scan date three days after booking in.

Snowflake15 · 15/02/2015 18:47

I have my private early scan tomorrow! Can't wait!

My mum cried today when I told her that if it's a girl we wanted to use a name with her heritage (the middle name she chose for me) and set me and my sister off! We must have looked so silly all crying in costa! Smile

SpamAnderson · 15/02/2015 18:59

My scan date took just over a week, I called to chase my date and then typically the letter arrived the next day ha ha!
Awww Snowflake that's lovely :) If we have a girl, she has my nans and DHs nans names for middle names :) I'm sure this one is a boy though in which case he's having no family names as tbh all the mens names in our family are terrible! Good luck for your scan tomorrow!

Snowflake15 · 15/02/2015 19:11

Thanks spam! I find boys names so hard to think of too! Have one we both like but it's a bit 'chavvy' so unsureHmm

Treaclepie19 · 15/02/2015 19:16

Thank you all :)
Second question - pregnancy pillows!
I need one as I'm struggling with sleep. What do you recommend?
A U shaped pillow or a dream genii?

Hi ladies,
Glad things seem to be going well for everyoneSmile
I've gone and booked a private scan for Wed when I'll be 9+4. Haven't got actual scan date yet- booking in is a wk on Monday and last time mw called hospital when I was with her to arrange. Just have a feeling it'll be closer to 14 wks and really don't think I can wait that long. I need reassurance! (2 close friends have suffered missed miscarriages).
Just had a lazy week off work so I now have Sunday evening back to work blues Sad

SpamAnderson · 15/02/2015 19:35

snowflake ha ha! I love boys names, we have 2dds so had loads of boys name in reserve :/ We have our girls and boys name chosen (apart from the boys middle name that is!) Our girls have uncommon names, they're the only ones in their school but not out there 'Moon Unit Zappa' style so our boys name has to be pretty different too. We heard it and fell in love. I used my favourite boys name on our first dog (Frank) so that was off the list ha ha! I think if you like a name, go for it, whether it could be viewed as 'chavvy' or not. (BTW don't go in the 'baby names' section on mumsnet and mention the word chavvy, you'll be lynched :/) I know what you mean though, there are some names that make you think of stereotypes for that name. But don't veto a name if it's one you really like. Keep trying it out through the pregnancy and see how it feels :) We did that with dd2 and I got fed up with the first name, the second name I adored until my mum called my bump the name and I thought straight away, nope that's not the name! Yeah I get bored easily ha ha!

lastnightiwenttomanderley · 15/02/2015 19:46

We discussed names a looong time ago. Blush

Girls is a bit unusual, Portuguese but not unheard of. Reflects my heritage on my mothers side (Indian but great nana was Portuguese immigrant to Goa and married in to Bengali family). Boys is traditional, classic and almost certainly in top ten! Was DH grandfather but also a v good friend of mine.

MyNameIsSuz · 15/02/2015 19:47

Spam, I'm the opposite, we really struggle with boys names! Took us ages to find a name for DS, no idea what we'll do if it's another boy. Got loads of girl names!

lastnightiwenttomanderley · 15/02/2015 19:48

wonders what dog spam has as would be very appropriate to have called our dog frank given his breed

MyNameIsSuz · 15/02/2015 19:51

I don't know, but it's my son's name and he's definitely not a dog!

SpamAnderson · 15/02/2015 19:59

Ha ha lastnight I have a friend with sausage dog called Frank, she calls him Weinerdog he he. Mine is a massive labrador who thinks he's the size of a chihuahua, ie he sees a 2 inch gap beside you and decides, yep I can fit in there. Or we find him hanging off the window sill :/ We like 'human' animal names in this house :) Our other dog is called Mike ha ha! totally outed myself there if anyone I know is in here ha ha!
myname I blooming love that name! I wanted it for dd2 if she was a boy, DH had the snip so 'knew' we'd never had another baby so Frank became my surrogate son with my boys name choice ha ha! We reallly struggled with girls names this time, I loved Darcy (bit more common that dds names but it worked quite well) but DH hates it so we've settled on a name I liked for dd2 but didn't choose because we worked with someone with a daughter of the same name and I felt like I'd be copying :/

Snowflake15 · 15/02/2015 20:07

spam thanks for the head up! I don't mean chavvy in any derogatory way lol! Smile but I've seen the name in the name board as a 'young mums name' and 'common'! Lol we will see though I don't really care - got another 32 weeks to decide anyway! Definitely finding out sex at 20 week scan!

Good idea about testing the name aswell! Me and DP tend to be v indecisive, it seems like such a responsibility deciding what someone should be called forever!

Mummytogoldie · 15/02/2015 20:17

My do is Irish so I want an Irish name. Any Irish suggestions welcome x I have 2 dd's at the minute and they have very British names, so an Irish name will be a nice change

Chuch21 · 15/02/2015 20:18

Ah names are sooo hard! We're having OH dad's name if it's a boy... I wasn't so keen at first as it's defitely top 20 but it's growing on me the more we use it and the shortened versions I like. I loved the girls name we both agreed on but the more we use it I'm not sure haha.

I always thought I would be team green but I can't wait to find out!
