LittleMissSunshine33 · 16/02/2015 17:49

Thanks Lancashire! Im already bouncing like mad on my ball, walking like a crab up the stairs and wiggling hips whilst walking dog! I'm sure MW's just say these things to sit laughing at the thought of us doing these moves! At least you both kind of have an end in sight my induction will be at 42 weeks that's the 27th it could end up being a March baby which is crazy! Shock

blankfornames · 16/02/2015 18:03

Littlemiss, I'm the same. They'll allow me 10 days over my due date, then they'll induce me. That would bring me to the 1st of March, when all the time I had February (19th!) in my head.

Let's bounce those February babies into gear!!

Are we keeping this thread as a post natal thread also?

Honeybird · 16/02/2015 18:50

Engorged, had a mild bout of mastitis, leaking constantly and nipples are killing me. However having ploughed through, due to sheer bloody mindedness, with my first two I know this state of affairs only lasts two or three weeks, for me, until things fall into place, supply regulates, and nipples are fine. I'm a bit of a breastfeeding evangelist, just because it's so much easier than preparing bottles, sterilising, measuring formula.

Hope that those of you able to plough through the initial bf suckiness come out the other side soon. I figure I have a week left.

Honeybird · 16/02/2015 18:51

Oh, also, why am I only now getting lovely piles when I avoided them all through pregnancy?

purpleteapig · 16/02/2015 19:22

Little miss & blank, hope you don't have too long to wait now before you meet your babies.

Honey bird I'm the same! Never had piles and found a huge one after labour - lovely. Haven't dared look at it yet; the midwife told me what it was.

Found out today we're in hospital until Thursday, for Rowan to have 7 days antibiotics rather than 5. I'm gutted we're not out today but at least we have a firm going home date.

Memphisbelly · 16/02/2015 20:30

Frenetic hope you are better soon, could you get some advice for your latch/breastfeeding while in there?

Had one of my longest friends over today with her 4 months old and 18 month old, my goodness I was so stressed I don't know how she does it. Ds1 was quite stressed with all the noise (we have a quiet house normally) and ds2 was worked up and I thimk it is due to the noise. We put some of the sleep bath we got in the bounty pack in his bath and now he is very chilled out

NicLondon1 · 17/02/2015 02:45

Honeybird I am also struggling with ginormous hard hot boobs! Does this engorgement last 2-3 weeks then..? I read somewhere it was a week & then midwife said 12 weeks (I think!) So was confused..

Are cracked nipples a normal thing to happen anyways for a while..?

I had v traumatic few days with bloody nipples due to frequent/constant feeding, one night it took 6 hours then last night was constant from 3-7:30am..!!! Turned out the baby had Tongue Tie, poor thing, so couldnt feed properly and was mostly chewing on me... we called a lactation specialist on Saturday who arrived this afternoon and performed the snip. It took 30secs and DD only made one startled sound, didn't cry at all. Brilliant. It cost £150 to do privately but there was no way I could wait on the 3-6week NHS waiting list... have to say best money I have spent yet on baby!
She has since finally had 2 normal feeds, 20-30mins then slept 3 hours - it just feels amazing! Such a relief to hear her swallowing properly.
If anyone else is having feeding issues would highly recommend getting this service, we found our nearest one via this website:
www.expressyourselfmums.co.uk/lactation-consultant.asp

please may it continue! Might actually have a chance to recover now I am getting some proper sleep in. .. 3 hour shifts as opposed to 1-2!

NicLondon1 · 17/02/2015 05:22

OK I spoke too soon as have just been up for 4 hours for milking...

sandulacek · 17/02/2015 06:31

nic that's still a good advice about going private with the tongue tie.

So much to look forward to reading all the experiences from you new mummies. Still I would rather hold my lo than sitting here watching telly. We were all set up for the hospital journey yesterday (about 2 mins for the cab to turn up ) when I got a phone call from the hospital that they had to cancel my c section due to a faulty equipment!!!Shock. I was so ready mentally, physically and practically! DH was a bit worked up in the afternoon (understandably) when we didn't hear anything and after few phone calls managed to get the consultant ring me with a new date...tomorrow...we'll see.

Frenetic hope you are feeling better. Try to get the bf sorted while you're in.

Good luck to all of you (us) still waiting to hold our babies Cake

donkir · 17/02/2015 07:00

Another tip, if you can try and learn to feed lying down on your side that way both you and lo can get to sleep. It does mean the nice crib we bought hasn't got much use but at least I'm not a zombie.
Sand fingers crossed for tomorrow.
Frenetic I hope your feeling better Thanks

Honeybird · 17/02/2015 08:20

Nic I'm sure there are some mothers out there who don't get sore nipples at all... I've just never met one! None of my three have been tongue tied, I had the first two properly checked, and my positioning and latch checked too. I think really it is not a surprise that such sensitive skin gets a bit sore being sucked on 8 or 10 times a day, even if you're doing everything right. But like I say mine get used to it and the pain is gone in 2-3 weeks. Same for being overly full, I'm sure it varies but my boobs are starting to feel less hard after 9 days now.

Donkir I do the same, feed in bed on my side and then just shuffle away a little bit when she's full and asleep. DH has a little corner of the bed and I tell him he's lucky to have that much, if he were prone to rolling about or flailing I'd kick him out altogether!

LittleMissSunshine33 · 17/02/2015 08:26

Nice to read bf stories as it's helping to prepare me!

I started having pains at 5 this morning then at 7 lost my plug and (TMI) had a big clear out now pains coming every 7/8 minutes so sitting on sofa with a hot water bottle. Fingers crossed!! Smile

BanglesSpangles · 17/02/2015 08:30

Morning all,
I wussed out of breast feeding after a measly 4 goes- I just wasnt getting it, Sid wasn't interested and have been ff'ing. Anyways my boobs have been so sore and leaky that I decided yesterday that there must still be milk in there so went out for a pump and had a go at expressing and bottle feeding that, which has worked a treat - still have leaky boobs but it feels like its for a reason now!

I know its a bit of a strange way to do things but im spending less time holding my boobs and groaning, DH is still going to be able to get involved and I dont feel guilty for not persevering with boob feeding proper

sand - that sounds sooo frustrating! Fingers crossed for you for tomorrow

blankfornames · 17/02/2015 08:30

All sounding very positive Littlemiss! Best of luck with everything!!

donkir · 17/02/2015 08:34

Oooo exciting times littlemiss.

Memphisbelly · 17/02/2015 08:38

Fingers crossed things progress littlemiss.

The baby seems to be settling into a routine a bit more, he fell asleep at 9 woke at 1 then 5 and is still asleep now, im wondering if he sleeps more soundly on the nights he has a bath. He has always woke at these times but takes a long time to settle but seems to drop off quicker after feeds if he has a bath.

Loving half term with both boys we have a busy week with people visiting as they like to see ds1 and he is usually at school, bet I will be shattered by Friday!

Honeybird · 17/02/2015 08:52

Ooh good luck littlemiss!

trukevoli · 17/02/2015 09:00

Best of luck Littlemiss! x

BanglesSpangles · 17/02/2015 09:14

ooh good luck little miss!

Just noticed we're coming close to filling up this thread- should we move to a post natal after this one, or hang on for everyone's babies?

blankfornames · 17/02/2015 10:15

Ladies, I'm up at the hospital for an internal and possible sweep tomorrow (eeeeshk!!). I'll be 39+6. Not feeling very symptomatic of someone that is about to give birth any moment though! As I live over an hr away from hospital, do i take my bags with me tomorrow..just in case?

GeekyHybrid · 17/02/2015 10:15

Exciting times littlemiss, sounds like we've got another baby on the way Grin

Nic when I got my latch sorted LO did then cluster feed for best part of 14 hours, it was as if he was telling my body where to set its production! Since that epic session it's pretty much settled down.

Can we list the thread in 2 topics eg ante and post natal? Or do we just go over to post as those still waiting will come with us anyway I'm sure. I've just realised (duh, not keeping track of dates!!) we're more than half way through February Blush Hmm It also shows how little OH and I pay attention to valentines day Wink

donkir · 17/02/2015 10:16

Blank I always kept my bags in the car as a precaution.

sandulacek · 17/02/2015 10:18

Good luck littlemiss

Purpletoes · 17/02/2015 10:50

Good luck littlemiss

I had a sweep yesterday but no real pains today. In a terrible mood though! ??

I am going to go for a mammoth walk today after an appointment I hve at lunch. I need this baby out. Any other suggestions would be good. Just spent 30 mins bouncing on ball.

I was very lucky with bf and my ds. No cracked nipples or pain hoping for the same again but obviously not holding my breath. Hope it works out for everyone who is suffering currently.

Grinningcat · 17/02/2015 11:01

blank feeling slightly envious at your sweep. I don't even see my Mw again until I'm 40 + 3 so just sat here waiting for things to kick off.

As one who is still waiting I don't mind going over to a post-natal thread as long as I can stick with you ladies.
