Great news kitty!

Stanway · 03/02/2015 15:40

My nausea has also died down a little now I'm in week 9... Does make you paranoid. ..

I'm also horrified to have put on about 5 pounds so far... I'm sure some of that is because I've only fancied eating plain stodgy food to combat sickness but I really hope some of it is water retention...

Anyone else gained quite a few pounds? Any words of wisdom?!

stuffthenonsense · 03/02/2015 15:47

Stanway I have gained about the same as you, and for the same reasons. If you are anything like me you will spend the last 14 weeks unable to eat much at all because everything (except rye toast and cashew nut butter) causes such horrific heartburn with vomiting that you pretty much give up eating. (Within reason) let your body tell you what it needs, it's pretty smart.

Maths88 · 03/02/2015 15:49

Whoever was unsure about whether to have an early scan or not because they'd still worry is right!

I actually think that since Thursday I've been more anxious and panicky! Ive been in floods of tears the last two nights because now Ive seen the heartbeat I feel so attached to little dinosaur and think losing it now would be worse. I can't shake the negativity about the dates being out - it's reallg making me panic! Anyone else felt like this after a scan?

Cornberry · 03/02/2015 15:55

stanway I've put on 4kg in the last few weeks. I feel disgusting but theres nothing I can do! I have to eat what and when my body demands it... I asked the midwife at my booking appointment if I should be concerned and she said no. Apparently it tends to even out in the second trimester. Feel like such a heifer in the meantime. As you say I think it's all the stodge, plus for me the being stuck in bed.

alien11 · 03/02/2015 16:31

maths that's true! I'm still thinking of booking one before I fly just to know if anythings in there. Then would only be couple of weeks until 12 week one anyway. Just need to make the call and actually book it for 3 weeks time when I'll be 10 weeks

I think I've put on weight but threw my scales away months ago so no idea what to weigh! Must Weigh myself at my mums soon so know how much I've put on

Snowflake15 · 03/02/2015 16:41

Think I've just had my first cravings - had to run out for miso soup and salt and vinegar crisps from pret! I'm sure my colleague thought I was mental slurping soup between crunches of crispsBlush

tinker316 · 03/02/2015 16:48

Hi all!
Just marking my place!
I have already had a scan last week at 10 weeks due to suffering abdominal pains Shock luckily all is ok & saw the babies heartbeat pounding away Smile am thinking of going for a 3d scan at 16 weeks.
X x

Treaclepie19 · 03/02/2015 16:50

Maths, i could've written your post! I feel I have so much more to lose now.

How far were you when you had your scan?
The good news is there's only a tiny chance of anything going wrong after an 8 week scan. I was only 6+4 though. Dated at 6.

maths we are the same too. Scan yesterday at 10 weeks after a bleed and drove home discussing how if anything was to happen it is almost worse now we have seen the potato..
I have just told work as had my 6 month review. My manager was fine, senior manager went a little quiet but said it was good news so feel a little more relaxed now Smile

Maths88 · 03/02/2015 17:26

Treacle I thought I was just over 8 but dated 7+3 which scared me!

Thanks people it's good to know its not just me although sad other people have these feelings too!

It's just I keep getting carried away with thinking about the future then I convince myself that it won't be and end up so upset that I'm completely beyond consoling! Poor dh!

Kittykitty05 · 03/02/2015 17:27

I know I've put on weight but thankfully my scales are broken, small blessing I can remain ignorant to it! (Or in denial!)

Stanway · 03/02/2015 18:05

Sounds like i ought to break my scales! Wink

Jackieharris · 03/02/2015 18:09

Electronic
Congratulations!
Are you taking a gap year from your course? I hope the university are accommodating to you.

I feel bad for saying this but I've actually lost 4lbs. I suppose it makes sense since I've been eating do little, but I've been so tired and sedentary I don't know how I managed to burn any calories. I'm overweight though so the less I put on over 9 months the better. I gained 3 stones last time and never lost it. No one will guess I'm pregnant because I've still got the bump!

I thought I was c. 7 weeks but since my symptoms have lessened maybe I'm 9 weeks, with what people are saying about the placenta. I'll find out at my dating scan next Friday.

SomewhereovertheRainbow02 · 03/02/2015 18:11

Great news kitty Smile

DefinitelyNotElsa · 03/02/2015 18:34

Has anyone had a scan around the 6-7 week mark? I've got to have one on Thursday, further to my visit to the EPU yesterday. Am a bit nervous about it all.

On the weight front - I'm a slimming world member, but didn't go last week as I felt so rubbish. Sure I've gained weight though, as I've been totally off plan. I've not been eating lots, but it hasn't been great stuff - mainly beige coloured carbs washed down with full fat coke (so wrong - but SO good for the queasiness).

I've lost just over half a stone since finding out I was pg but with a bmi of 31 (and I in all honesty got that overweight from too much dairy milk and half-packets of biscuits practically every day) I think I can afford to lose it and I have in no way been starving myself...just dropped the junk and have basically not eaten an evening meal for 6 weeks due to terrible evening sickness (I do however manage a very decent and substantial lunch).
I've been very interested with everyone saying there has been no mention of high bmi's from mw's though. My mw at booking said my bmi alone would make me consultant-led (there are a lot if other factors however making me consultant-led as well) and I have to have an extra appointment with the anaesthetist at 16 weeks because of my bmi. Does anyone else have to too?

Whatabout · 03/02/2015 19:21

My BMI is 28, so bad but not too bad. Round here BMI over 35 is consultant led. I will see an anesthetist and be consultant led for muskoskeletal reasons but midwife said they usually see you once and throw you back to midwife. No mention of weight at all.

Hare5260 · 03/02/2015 19:23

Kitty I had a scan today too - I think we are the same date-wise - 9+6?
Amazing to see little arms and legs going, DW tried to record it but unfortunately the phone didn't work dammit so will have to hope the hospital are as accommodating when we go for our 12-week scan on 17th.
Hopefully the image of the scan has worked.....
Feels so real now. Scary.

Jackieharris · 03/02/2015 19:35

They did my bmi at booking and it was over 31. Not only I am not consultant led the consultant said a home birth would probably be best for me as I'm so low risk! (3rd pregnancy, easy previous births though)

HaveTeaWillSurvive · 03/02/2015 19:38

Little tea checking in. Everything looked good in the scan, heart thundering away and dated at 8+2 which is exactly what I thought so fingers crossed it all keeps going as well. Feels very real now!

Well after my breakfast cracker all I have managed to eat is four cereal biscuits and a packet of iced gems Sad DH is making a pasta dish at the mo, hoping I can eat it.

Mummyboo30 · 03/02/2015 20:07

Love the scan pics Hare and Tea, very sweet little squishes! :)

Despite having my booking in appt 2 weeks ago, I'm back in to the MW tomorrow for bloods etc. (don't really know why she didn't do them before!) last time my BP was edging towards high so I'm desperately trying to destress tonight, it doesn't help that DD has been a little madam all day! Sad
Anyone got any tips?
