ooh I hope it goes well treacle and hope you feel better soon tallalime

I forgot to take my folic acid last night so took it this morning - now have burning acid and nausea so I'm going to have to go stock up on some reflux medication. I am, however, smuggly wearing a pair of mat jeans under a big jumper! They're falling down a bit but I've piled on bloat and all my skinny trousers are uncomfortable. Screw it, I'm going to end up in mat clothes at some stage anyway!

I was all merrily waiting for the 12 week scan but now we are wondering about having a scan at 8 weeks so we can tell people then, if all looks well. We see PILs a lot and I'm seeing my friends a lot and I just really hate lying about future plans. Probably avoiding telling work so as not to complicate my promotion prospects, but then again I work with 8 other women so they're bound to notice. Hmm. Unfortunately the only place we can get to for a scan is £120!

The Fan Dance is a race in Wales. Up and down Pen Y Fan and along a bit. It's based on an SAS training run. It's really hard.

whereswaldo · 20/01/2015 10:19

Is it normal to really not feel anything much at 4 +6? I ve only got sore boobs - i know I shouldn't wish it on myslef but really want some morning sickness just to know it is all progressing.
Anyone else in the same boat?

ShootTheMoon · 20/01/2015 10:33

totally normal waldo! Aside from being fatter I pretty much only have the heartburn (which was a PITA in my first pg too) - I'm still managing to work and exercise etc and no sore boobs. I am noticing things I didn't notice first time though - crampy feelings started earlier before BFP and are going on longer.

Everyone has completely different experiences I'm sure. Don't worry!

Treaclepie19 · 20/01/2015 10:33

Yep whereswaldo I'm the same. Sometimes having symptoms but this morning ive got nothing.
Doctor has given me a note to go back to my normal duties. Now I've just got to break it to work. Not sure what I'll tell all the staff either.

HaveTeaWillSurvive · 20/01/2015 10:37

Oh that's good treacle hopefully that makes things easier.

Treaclepie19 · 20/01/2015 10:38

Thanks Havetea, no idea what I'll say though!

DoctorDonnaNoble · 20/01/2015 10:43

good luck Treacle!

showtunesgirl · 20/01/2015 10:47

Reporting for duty!

6 weeks on Thursday. I had a miscarriage in September at 10 weeks. Sad I also have a 3yo DD though.

However, it's all a bit complicated in how I feel as DD's birth really wasn't great and I'm starting CBT any day now to deal with the birth trauma.

This baby is very much wanted but I'm not entirely sure how I'm going to get through birth once again.

Bollyroo · 20/01/2015 11:05

So I finally told DH this evening - we're in Sydney but moving back to UK sometime in the next few months (I know, excellent timing right?). Anyway, I stuck a bunch of stickers on my belly saying 'September Poppet' and got a baby bottle of champers. He was super cute and had tears in his eyes. He's gone so giggly now I'm not sure what to do with him beaming like an idiot! Yay us!

Tallalime · 20/01/2015 11:15

Ooh thanks Terrys I will pop out and get some of that in a bit. I can't seem to get warm right now, even though the plumber has been and fixed the heating.

That sounds lovely Bolly, bless your DH Grin

Mummyboo30 · 20/01/2015 11:18

Aah, that's sweet, Bolly, good luck with the move, I can't imagine how much hard work that will be.

drdonna that doesn't sound like fun, no wonder you were shattered!

DoctorDonnaNoble · 20/01/2015 12:03

It wasn't fun at the time; but finishing it was quite a high. Hardest thing I've ever done!

Onsera3 · 20/01/2015 12:08

Hi all. My EDD is 10/09 but I'm hoping for a bit earlier like DS (aged 2 yr 2mo).

I saw my GP yesterday about arranging booking in appt. She was a locum so I had to ask for the maternity exemption form etc

I only released I was pregnant a week ago! I was experiencing cramping and having to rush to the toilet which is what I get when my period is coming. Also my cycles had been a bit long.

Plus we were unable to conceive DS naturally which was put down to my endo and PCOS.

So this was a total shock.

I guess it was lucky I'm still BF DS so I didn't drink much or anything. Feel a bit bad I didn't take the prenatal vitamins but I had luckily been eating a lot of high folate foods.

Been feeling a bit nauseous and super hungry!

TheMidnightHour · 20/01/2015 12:24

Thanks for the thoughts about mum-friends and other-friends. I had about six other things to say, but the thread's moved on so far I've forgotten. If I take my vits on an empty stomach, they make me want to vom - word of warning!

I do feel quite out of it (particularly since I'm back in Foreign, visiting my mum for a week) and am wondering how to tell people. I'd rather do it face-to-face, particularly for close family, but that probably means a lap of England since they're scattered from London to Edinburgh :-/

Is anyone else worrying about how to tell people? This is a very much wanted (and planned) pg but I know DP's parents will be very upset and anti as we're not married, and I'm not sure how his sibs will react but I don't expect them to be thrilled esp if it causes a major family row...

Chuch21 · 20/01/2015 12:29

Have enjoyed catching up with you all Grin
Waves of nausea this morning but I still haven't been sick! Still got a constant ache in my tummy... Should I go to the doctor about this? I don't know what's 'normal'
3 weeks until booking appt/dating scan!

Onsera3 · 20/01/2015 12:44

Gosh midnighthour you poor thing having to worry about that. Please don't fret about what they think. So long as you and DP support each other Im sure you'll get through it. Pregnancy is a good time to start being a bit more selfish and blocking out any negative noise in your life.

Church I was never sick in my last pregnancy despite feeling nauseous. In my limited experience first trimester feels a bit like getting your period. So for me cramping etc is normal and it clears up. But if it was really sharp you are supposed to talk to Dr I think.

Can't wait for the second trimester. Hate feeling ill and having to prepare food.

Chuch21 · 20/01/2015 13:59

Thank you Onsera Smile it does just feel exactly like period cramps so hopefully it doesn't get any worse!

Midnight, I was a nervous wreck telling my dad as he's very conservative (I'm not married, just started my career - which he's incredibly proud of - and only 21) he walked out initially and then just came back and cried and hugged us both Shock

Now to tackle telling my Roman Catholic grandma... The only thing making me not look forward to week 12!!

Stoatystoat · 20/01/2015 14:12

tallalime get well soon.

treaclepie I'm glad to hear you're under doctor's orders and hope work are okay with you

gail and deeply you motivated me to have a little trip to the gym. Too anxious to run properly - the 5ks are knocked on the head, but walked 2km and ran 1km just to see how I got on and it was okay.

Still getting cramps occasionally but don't feel sick today. I have managed to poo though which is good. I don't like these symptoms but then I get worried when I don't 'feel' preganant. Crazy lady!

booboobeedoo11 · 20/01/2015 14:55

Hey everyone..hope you're all good, so much to read back on!

These past few days seem to be dragging in! 8th Feb seems so far away for my booking appointment and 10th of march for 12 week scan! Sitting debating whether I should pay for an early scan after my booking appointment to cut the wait down a bit! Found a clinic while looking at 3d scans for further down the line and they offer early scans for £39! So tempted to call and make an appointment now to give me something to look forward to!

ShootTheMoon · 20/01/2015 15:08

chuch I still feel a bit crampy, it's normal, just stretching pains. Properly painful cramps and/or red bleeding, or brown watery bleeding, do need investigation though.

booboo we must have similar dates as my scan is booked for the same day - we too are wondering about an earlier scan, as I'm more impatient to tell people this time, and we have work commitments beyond September so it would be easier in a way to own up that they are not going to happen this year! It's SO much money for the difference of four weeks though.

Time is going very slowly at the moment. With the cold weather, my hockey matches keep getting postponed to the end of the season - I have already decided not to play beyond 12 weeks because after that stage the bean isn't hidden behind my pelvis, so being hit or falling is riskier. Plus I will be fat and slow I'm sure. So I want to tell my captain, but I can't!

Snowflake15 · 20/01/2015 15:38

chuch I am 22 and also nervous to tell my DPs tonight - I know they will be happy but it just feels weird!

Does anyone else have extraordinarily greasy hair? I used to wash my hair every other day or every 3 days but now iv washed it last night and its already disgusting! Sad

SpamAnderson · 20/01/2015 15:42

6+1 here today. It's totally dragging and I'm desperate to book an early scan. Mean old DH won't let me book an early scan as £100 is the cheapest they do here.... They won't scan until 7 weeks but the drs make me 6+5 today (I know my dates are more accurate though) so I could get away with getting a scan this weekend I reckon... I keep getting pains but no bleeding but I'm still worrying something will happen us we've wanted this baby for 5 years and it feels like cycle 1 was just too quick and it can't be real?

stuffthenonsense · 20/01/2015 15:43

Snowflake I used to have hair I could wash every 7-8 days but now it's suddenly every other day at a push, which is making it worse but I hate having greasy hair. At least it's put an end to my post-last-baby shedding.

Snowflake15 · 20/01/2015 15:55

stuff I feel better knowing it's not just me - not much online about it! Did you have it with your last one? And if so how long did it last? Hope it's just an early thing and will even out later!
