Greasy hair is the way I found out I was pregnant with dd. I have very fine hair that I wash every day but at the moment that doesn't even feel like often enough Hmm

stuffthenonsense · 20/01/2015 16:19

No I've had great hair with all the babies, this has come as a shock.

booboobeedoo11 · 20/01/2015 16:20

Shoot counting from my lp I make myself 5+3. I think I'm pretty accurate, I bought another twin pack digi's...friday I got a 2-3 and yesterday I got a 3+. So frustrating that its going so slow but I'm back at work next week so hoping time will go a little quicker from then!

Snowflake I'm the same, always only had to wash my hair every 2/3 days but feel its getting greasy overnight at the moment!

Spam thats really expensive! Now I'm wondering if the one I seen for £39 has some sort of catch! Sure I read the small print though lol. Don't think I'd be able to talk my OH into it if it was £100!

45Monty · 20/01/2015 16:22

booboo good to see you back! I'm 5+3 today.

Spam I agree with you, time is dragging. Not able to book scan yet. :-(

I think I have early signs of MS today, or nausea from my headaches (still going on).

Snowflake I haven't noticed too much regarding greasy hair. My biggest symptoms have been sore breasts, and freezing to the point I had to go to A&E due to having a hypothermic temp. Fortunately the chills have now passed.

booboobeedoo11 · 20/01/2015 16:28

Hey Monty! my date buddy haha.

I meant to ask...at the booking appointment, for me its at 8wks..do they listen for a heartbeat?

StrawberryCheese · 20/01/2015 16:37

I am freezing! My muscles have been in spasm all day from the shivers so my body now aches. I have also had it confirmed today that I am being made redundant. The thought of telling any of our parents the bad and good (but now badly timed) news makes me feel ill.

I have fine hair which I have to wash every day too brickie I hope I don't get the greasy hair symptom, I want to be one of these glowing pregnant women, not a greasy, spotty, exhausted mess.

ShootTheMoon · 20/01/2015 16:42

booboo there should be a heartbeat from around 6 weeks, definitely by 8 weeks if your dates are right, but I think they only listen on the scan, not the usual abdominal way, which usually MWs only try after 20 weeks if I remember correctly.

For those with greasy hair, my hair was never the same after DD, Sad. My biggest tip is to avoid using hair products with SLS or parabens in - they strip and then coat the hair which makes fine hair in particular just hang and feel greasy. I have moved away from that completely and am now on hair wash ever 2-3 days, when it had got to the stage that I felt greasy within 12 hours of washing it! You can either go the full hog and do the 'no 'poo' method which you can find on style and beauty here, or buy the organic type shampoos from Boots/Holland and Barrett/Lush etc which are much gentler on the hair and allow the natural oils to balance out.

ShootTheMoon · 20/01/2015 16:43

whoops boobee just read your post properly. An NHS MW will definitely not listen for a heartbeat, not for weeks and weeks yet.

that really sucks strawberrycheese, what awful timing. Hope it goes well tonight.

booboobeedoo11 · 20/01/2015 16:43

Sorry for continuously spamming the thread but I have a 'dilemma' well kind of haha....

I got some vouchers for Christmas and was having a look in the shop they're for the other day when I noticed they have a really good sale on in the maternity section.
I know it wont be too long til I need them, especially with the added xmas weight lol so do I just grab a few bargains now or wait til I know I definitely need them? I practically live in jeans and they had loads for less than half the price! My head says do it and I'm not at all superstitious but maybe don't want to jinx myself!

booboobeedoo11 · 20/01/2015 16:46

Shoot I remember with my son they did at my first appointment but that was 11yrs ago and I think the only reason she did is because we thought I was really early but when she was examining my stomach she could obviously feel I was well over 12 weeks!

mrsdos · 20/01/2015 16:57

Hello Ladies. I seem to be having one disaster after another with the MW! Went to see her today (last weeks appointment was cancelled by them) first of all she started by calling me the wrong name, then asked a load of questions which would have been relevant to the lady she thought I was! Started off my notes, but as the surgery moved my appointment they put me in for 30 mins not an hour, luckily it was pretty straightforward as I have no important medical history. As I am not sure how many weeks I am (no af after coming off the pill) she had a quick feel of my belly and tried searching for a heartbeat which she couldn't find - not too worried about this as she also struggled to find mine! After relaying this to my furious DH I am semi hoping he will suggest an private early (stupidly expensive) scan! Other than that I am still feeling sick and stupidly tired - happy days!

45Monty · 20/01/2015 16:58

Strawberry Have you noticed any pattern in the times of day you get the chills. I noticed it with mine. They happened between 1 and 4pm, and lasted about 3 hours. I only had it once where it lasted an hour.

Stanway · 20/01/2015 17:11

Interesting re the chills Strawberry. I've been unusually hot and especially at night (my legs!) I'm normally very cold and suffer from Renauds. Anyone else's temperature going haywire? ! Confused

Thanks for the advice re old friends and baby friends earlier in the thread; we're moving and it's reassuring to hear that it probably won't be disastrous leaving behind good friends right when we're having our first baby. Smile

Booking in appointment this Sunday. Taking hubby. Those who've already been or who've had children already, did you take your partner along? Would you recommend it?

x

ShootTheMoon · 20/01/2015 17:15

booboo ha that must have been a shock!

definitely go ahead and buy some maternity clothes while they are in the sale - I just spent a small fortune getting sorted for work as I wouldn't be able to buy much at regular prices! It really will only be a few weeks before you want them, and if you don't need them for any reason they will resell well I'm sure.

SpamAnderson · 20/01/2015 17:23

boo the ones I've seen at that sort of price tend to be later in, ie 16+ weeks or fairly short. The private scans here for gender etc are £55 but the cheapest pre 16 weeks I can find is £100 :(

SpamAnderson · 20/01/2015 17:29

boo here (norfolk) they listen to the heartbeat at 16 weeks :D I'm hoping to sneak the dds out of school for an hour so they can come to that with us :)

Stoatystoat · 20/01/2015 17:33

Strawberry, I'm sorry that is so stressful. Do you at least qualify for a decent pay off?

I'm cold but then so is the weather so it's hard to know what it is. I have a runny nose all the time though.

Is anyone else having back pain?

The early scan near me is 70 or 80 and I'm going to do it probably at 7 or 8 weeks. Do not want an internal hence the wait.

Boo, I would buy the clothes, you can always return them depending on their policy. I'm doing an ASOS order soon. If the worst happens, it's not because I abuse my credit card.

MyNameIsSuz · 20/01/2015 17:46

Shoot I can't believe you have a scan date already, aren't we at the same hospital? I haven't had anything!

I think I'm going to tell my boss soon, she's pretty much twigged already. Gaining weight too, gutting as I didn't gain any last time - I think my stomach muscles have already given up! I'm hardly doing any exercise either, it's my belly dancing class tonight and I don't really want to go but feel like I should!

brickiemum2 · 20/01/2015 18:07

I've also been having low temps in the afternoon but it coincides with a major tired spell and often low blood sugar. Today my hands were so cold I couldn't grip anything and now the skin is all spilt on them. That was in my warm houseHmm
I have my scan date for March but the me won't listen externally for hb until 17-20 weeks as it's hard to find.

Chuch21 · 20/01/2015 18:13

Good luck with your parents Snowflake!

Thanks Shoot, no bleeding so probably just being over cautious.

Definitely suffering the greasy hair with you ladies! Belly feels massive tonight and DH is taking me out to dinner... I hope wherever we go a baggy jumper and loose fitting jeans is acceptable Blush

DefinitelyNotElsa · 20/01/2015 18:17

Has anyone else's skin gone crazy? I'm only 4 + 1, but since getting my BFP on Saturday I've broken out in quite a few spots. A colleague even commented on it today.

MyNameIsSuz · 20/01/2015 18:29

I'm suddenly really spotty too, just little ones dotted all around my face, mostly appeared today! I'm 7ish (really need to start keeping track properly! last time I just always knew how many weeks, I might have to start writing it down)

HaveTeaWillSurvive · 20/01/2015 18:32

I'm also freezing at the moment, especially late afternoon onwards. Didn't have this last time but on the plus side the MS seems to be more v first thing which helps!

I've caved and booked a scan for around the 8 week mark (£85 here) we're going to tell PIL then as we're pulling out of a holiday to Tenerife at start of march. Such a shame but I don't fancy a long flight / food fear / MS in a tiny apartment in the heat. DH is being amazingly good about it.

ShootTheMoon · 20/01/2015 18:40

suz they have sent me up to the Horton in Banbury for the scan, must be a bit nearer to where I am now. I only have it booked because I saw the GP at 3 weeks to get my BP checked as a baseline. Last time I didn't hear until after my booking in appt so it was all quite close together!

My skin was horrific last time and my back and chest were all spotty two weeks ago. I am washing carefully with a microfibre cloth and a lovely Origins face wash in a desperate attempt to stave it off. Last time it was way worse than when I was a teenager!

suz I only know my week because I have the Ovia app which marks the weeks on a calendar! Quite useful for figuring out the latest dates I can fly so I can plan work trips!

ShootTheMoon · 20/01/2015 18:42

I am also cold a lot, but my woolly pashmina thing is quite a good way to hide the bloat!

It is currently raining icily outside my car while I work up the stupidity to go outside to training for 90 mins. Brrr. After last week (similar weather), I had icy nipples of agonising death for about an hour. Should be fun Grin
