Tracey, i've just been looking at the babies r us catalogue, there are some lovely travel systems ranging from £129-£450 ish.... U can get alot around the £250 mark.
Personally i always wanted new for my babies although this one will use my existing system as i love it.
Have you thought much about what are essentials.. Ru wanting carrycot/carseat/buggy .... Front/rear facing etc? Mite be time for a fb photo share of all these prams

I think it's down to personal preference Tracey, so don't be pressured into getting a second hand pram/travel system if you were planning to get new. Everyone has their own priorities for what they want new or don't mind having second hand!

I think you can get some good second hand deals on prams, but equally you don't have to spend ridiculous amounts if you want a brand new one either. And bear in mind that if you're looking at buying a second hand travel system, guidelines suggest that car seats are not bought second hand as you don't know if it's been compromised in an accident. You would likely have to buy the car seat new to go with the system.

I am considering buying second hand to get a cheap deal, but we have a nice local pram shop that will let you pay over time. They hold onto the pram until it's paid (so it's not a credit agreement), put it together for you and then your guarantee doesn't start until you take the pram home nearer your due date. They're quite reasonable compared to the bigger companies too (and it's nice to support local businesses, right?). Also they stock the two prams I'm torn between at the moment XD

Elizabeth aww crisp love. Mmmm. I think I might have to stop at a shop on the way home to get myself a bag of Sensations to stuff into my face share with my DP tonight... Grin

Chookford · 20/01/2015 18:13

Yum crisps love it!!

tori lovely blankets!!

Elizabethnaylor1980 · 20/01/2015 19:48

tori lovely blanket. A friend of mines Mum makes beautiful blankets out of clients baby/children's clothes that they have grown out of. I am thinking of one made of all the babies first years clothes as a keepsake.

AnythingNotEverything · 20/01/2015 20:30

Elizabeth my SIL is very handy with a sewing machine so we've already requested a cushion, made of scraps of our 0-3 baby clothes that DD and the new baby will have worn, for Christmas.

You can have them made into teddies too. So cute.

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 20/01/2015 20:51

I had to nip into the cobbler's yesterday, his wife sells wool and dd was saying we need to choose some to make something for her manger baby Smile Hopefully after tomorrow I will feel more confident to start thinking...

Poor dd, though, her winter coat is still in pieces Hmm

Zaccheryquack · 20/01/2015 21:11

Oooh good luck tomorrow Pas. We had our scan today so know now that we will be having another little girl. She stuck her tongue out at us and did a big yawn! I think she has a different profile to dd so think she may look more like her Daddy.

bubalou said on Facebook too but really hope all is ok and really glad to hear you are getting seen quickly.

I want to do something crafty for the new baby but fear I will never finish the roman blinds for the nursery that I have been working on since before I was pregnant (& it was DDs bedroom!). Not allowing myself any fun projects until that job is done!

Chookford · 20/01/2015 21:16

zach congrats on your baby girl.... We need more girls to even out these boys! Grin

Elizabethnaylor1980 · 20/01/2015 21:30

zach yay for another little girl.

anything ahh that's a great idea, I wish a could sew, I remember my textile days at school and having many an argument with a sewing machine when trying to thread it. I did see a beginners one recently that I may get, always wanted to try making my own things. I ve never been crafty, I was more building sheds, painting and fixing things with my Dad (whilst wearing girly dresses and Magic Step sparkly shoes).

Who do I need to message about fb group please ?

Tryingreallyhard84 · 20/01/2015 21:52

Oo, just got home to see the girls making a come back again. Yay.

It's snowing here so may be working from home tomorrow so will have time to research the sling suggestions people have been posting on facebook. I already know which buggy system I want.

Hope all goes well for scanees tomorrow. Smile

Kyz · 20/01/2015 22:07

Such lovely updates - congrats all on the recent scans! As I said on fb bubalou, sending you the best wishes for your little boy, how reassuring that they are seeing you so soon! I think So many are quick to criticise the nhs (I certainly know I've had a whinge over the last few months - between waiting hours in a&e when hubby damaged his knee ligaments to waiting over a week for a gp appt for an ear infection!) but in times of 'real' need they do always seem to step up. Both grandmas of mine have been well looked after in local nhs hospitals recently for various ops and issues!
On an unrelated note, dh and I have near enough had a breakdown this evening looking at my maternity pay. It seems so unfair - we've both graduated in the last few years and have 'good' jobs, we both work crazy hours with him in particular pulling pints a few evenings a week to boost his income - yet we're still going to struggle to pay mortgage and bills when I'm off. I hate being the sort of person to worry about money - at such an exciting time in our lives it seems so fickle, but it's hard not to stress! Trying to look on the bright side, just hoping I'll be able to take as much time off as I'd like to in order to bond with our new addition! Sorry to be so 'woe is me'! Obviously feeling a bit sorry for myself tonight! Let's hope I get a good nights sleep and wake up feeling more positive!!Smile

bubalou · 20/01/2015 23:24

Thank you everybody for well wishes.

Have an early start in the morning as journey to hospital involves trains and tubes etc so won't be on here until tomorrow afternoon now.

Have a good day everyone and good luck for any scans. Smile

Tryingreallyhard84 · 21/01/2015 06:38

emz - I certainly know how you feel re the money situation and I'm sure many of us do. I'm currently saving like a mad woman where I can. even then I think the stat mat pay may be a bit of a killer. somehow it'll work out...That's what I keep telling myself anyway. Hmm

well, snow here today. whilst the trams appear to be running I'm not venturing out and will work from home. Poor dh needs to dig the car out though.

Tryingreallyhard84 · 21/01/2015 06:39

ps - bubalou hope your journey is easy and all goes well.

Jackiebrambles · 21/01/2015 08:31

Morning all

Well luckily Buba's journey won't be hampered by the snow in London. Not a ruddy flake here!! I know its annoying when its here but DS hasn't seen snow yet so I want some!! Grin.

Good luck with the scans today Junebugs!

Mine's not til 10th Feb, argh!
