Seems like a mixed Friday today.

Jenny - great scan pic even if s/he didn't cooperate fully.

Tori - hope it blows over soon

Elizabeth - nowt as strange as families eh? I will never understand them particularly where meanness is involved.

Hope others have a good Friday evening. The movement I thought I felt has gone so no doubt just wishful thinking or digestion/wind.

Ah Tori I hope tomorrow is a better day.

ememsmum · 16/01/2015 21:09

Scan today went well. Both hubby and I looked away at certain points as didn't want to accidentally see dangly bits. I could hardly see anything anyway as sonographer's elbow was in my face most of the time. So many people can't get over the fact we don't want to know the gender. I'm so looking forward to finding out in 20-22 weeks time.

In other news my friend delivered twin girls yesterday (DC3&4) at 37 weeks. They were 6lb6oz and 6lb12oz. My DD was 6lb13oz at 42 weeks! My friend didn't look that massive at the end but she is 5'11" so I guess they had room to spread out.

Alisvolatpropiis · 16/01/2015 21:59

Glad to hear it's not just me with a lazy one, speed Grin

Chookford · 16/01/2015 22:14

emem congrats on good scan news! We are the same, not finding out and most people think we are mad!

tori hope you and dh make up tonight..

pasbeaucoupdegendarme · 16/01/2015 22:55

Great to hear more good scan news Smile

Sounds like lots of people are glad it's Friday! I certainly am... Especially after 40mins in a Baltic playground this afternoon on "emergency" break duty - had to cover two classes at short notice and this was the only space for them! Ugh...

Funny lot of mws around. Mine advised me to have the flu jab then went into great detail about why she is anti vaccines and doesn't think they're safe Shock Shock

However, it is important that they know if the baby's dad is the same as any previous children you have as it can affect things healthwise (eg blood groups and stuff). They do need to think about how they phrase it though!

Have just finished doing some planning for school.. Rock'n'roll Fridays I have Hmm Off to bed. Hope you all sleep well!

Hello, creeping in quietly to say how much 'listening' to you all is helping me to share in my daughter's pregnancy (baby is due 14th June). She's living in NZ and having her 1st baby at 39 - after many years of marriage and deciding they weren't going to have a baby! She's had continuous bleeding for many weeks now and has full placenta previa, so the pregnancy has remained a secret from everyone except for me and her dad, but I heard from her tonight to say no fresh bleeding for two days now. Smile She has her 20 week scan on 27th of January and I'm feeling cautiously optimistic that all will be well. I wish I could be with her to share in the ups and downs of her pregnancy, so for me this is the next best thing. I'm 'eavesdropping' here and then sharing little snippets with my daughter when we Skype or email. It helps me to read of all your concerns and niggles so that I can then ask my daughter if she's feeling the same way etc. I haven't breathed a word of her pregnancy to anyone as I promised not to, but it means that I have no-one to talk to or share things with and coming on here gives me an opportunity to be vicariously involved. So thanks for letting me sit on the sidelines and I'm following you all avidly and wishing you well as you approach the half-way mark. Smile

bubalou · 17/01/2015 07:47

Pas - I completely get the mw needing to know the dads details - at the booking in appointment.

This however was my 20 week appointment. All the details about him and myself are in my book.

I think she really needed to word it better. Smile

cuphat · 17/01/2015 08:31

I don't think there was any need to ask as it should have been in the book that you fill out for booking in.

I'm 21 weeks (+1) now, time is going so fast!

Glad your scan went well emem.

I agree bubalou, and anyway all that is in the front of my notes. Mine was just shocked at the age difference and just making conversation I think.

MrsExtraOrdinary · 17/01/2015 12:14

Sunbathing funny you mention that, because on admittance to hospital, don't forget an emergency admittance one of the first questions they asked was whether I owned my house? I did wonder? Completely inappropriate and never been asked that in previous pregnancies.

bubalou · 17/01/2015 12:18

Exactly tranquility.

She said 'you have a Dc already' and I said - 'yes he's six now' to which this girl said 'oh, is it the same dad'.

I simply said yes it's my husband but we didn't want two close together.

Why is it that everybody has to fit into a perfect little acceptable box!?!

Everybody has to meet the dp, move in and get engaged and married within an 'acceptable' time frame and then you have to have children and have them at an 'acceptable' age gap and you have to have a boy and a girl and if you have two of the same gender and you have a third child it's because you were 'trying' for a different one this time.
ShockConfusedAngry

Sorry for rant. It just drives me insane sometimes that were all expected to live up to some unrealistic expectations of perfect and family and it all has to be done a certain way.

jazzyjenbo · 17/01/2015 12:43

Dont u think everyone and everyone has an opinion when ur expecting... I've had lots of comments about 'no tv in my house' as i'll hav 3 under 5... When i had ds and dd people commented about it being nice having 1 of each so i could stop now!... Um yes it s nice but it would of still been nice having 2 the same.
Now ppl are commenting about this 1 'falling out'.... Umm i mite b onto no3 but if u must no they gave me a 'designer vagina' after the tear last time so i suspect this mite be the hardest birth. LolConfused

Yes, I agree. I have had a few comments because I ve only been in relationship with OH for short time, despite being friends for a long time. I know a few family members wish I was married before children but having been married before to a nightmare of a cheater I may not do it again, something my mum totally endorsed. I must admit, we are slightly missing the little bubble where only OH and I knew.

PregnantAndEngaged · 17/01/2015 13:58

Hey everyone :) How has your weeks been?

This past week I've developed a few different pregnancy symptoms (yaay! :p). My nemesis at the moment is a bad back, although I've discovered that sleeping with a cushion between the names is a little bit of a God send! :)

Also (and apologies for TMI) I keep getting shooting pains inside my vagina. Is anyone else getting this? :S I did have a little of this in early pregnancy but it seems to be a bit more frequent now.

PregnantAndEngaged · 17/01/2015 13:59

*between the knees

(lol, must have been subconsciously thinking about names... I wrote a list of boys name (because I can think of lots of lovely girls names that me and my fiance would agree on but not boys names).. although my fiance laughed at most of them!)

Tranquilitybaby · 17/01/2015 14:47

That combined with "was it a surprise?" Really riles me. Who asks that?! My reply of "no, I lost two babies last year" usually shuts them up! Grrr.

And that reminds me yet again why I haven't announced anything on facebook.

sunbathing we are hoping to also have another DC after this one and be fairly close together, I could say same thing to mw and then compare responses with you.

Our pregnancy still isn't public knowledge Blush Thursday comes and the Cat will be out the bag! I'm betting on at least 3 inappropriate comments.

Jackiebrambles · 17/01/2015 17:01

How close together are you thinking sunbathing and Elizabeth? Are you planning on getting a buggy that will convert to a double?

I'm obsessed by looking for double buggies at the moment!!
