Couldn't see a new thread so thought I'd make one. Congratulations to all the mummies so far. Looking forward to hearing lots more birth stories. Good luck for those still to go.

Argh, lies, I meant 39+2!!

CallingAllEngels · 07/01/2015 19:11

Have hospital appt tomorrow for internal, monitoring of baby and get to hear whether it's induction (and when - hopefully Friday) or if mw can break waters at home on Friday instead to see if ctx start.

So many BH this evening, but have had them all week.

No fuckwit "Any news?" emails/messages for 12 hours - a new record Grin

40+10

Elizadoesdolittle · 07/01/2015 20:35

engels good luck for tomorrow. I hope they get things moving.

I've had a lovely day with my friend so feeling less grumpy. I have things lined up tomorrow so baby can stay put till tomorrow evening if it must but after that it really really needs to come and i'm not taking no for an answer Grin

40 + 5

Chiruri how have you managed to get a sweep already?
I have mw app on Friday and will be 38+5 bit unsure as to when my sweeps would start if I go over as next app would normally be40+5 anyone think I would be able to request a app at 39+5 so it's closer to the 40 weeks? I'm sick now and just want my bambino out

HenriettaTurkey · 07/01/2015 22:23

Ikkle, I'm having a sweep at 38+5 because of my SPD. The consultant says that they can see if my cervix is favourable and it may encourage an early labour.

That'd be nice...

HenriettaTurkey · 07/01/2015 22:24

Oops, so what I meant to say was that if you ask them to see if you have a favourable cervix, you may be in luck!

chiruri · 08/01/2015 06:11

Ikkle it's cos I have a kidney abnormality that, although it's fine just now, could potentially pose a problem if I go overdue. I'm booked in for an induction on my due date, and my hospital performs sweeps as standard before an induction to help things along.
I'm quite glad tbh, as I'm a very anxious person and I'm desperate for LO to come out!

LittlePink · 08/01/2015 07:11

So I'm on a bit of a roller coaster ride with this little monkey. Started getting contractions last night at 9pm but a bit all over the place 10 mins/ 5 mins/ 10 mins. So decided to go to bed and see if they developed. Went upstairs, felt a bit wet, went into bathroom, had the most enormous pressure in my stomach and my waters went all over the floor. Rang hospital and they said come to triage. By time I got there contractions had stopped. Put me on monitor, all fine, did an examination and couldn't see any evidence of fluid and suggested to me it was urine. There's no way it was urine. It was clear and I would know if I'd wet myself! Felt so embarrassed and undignified that I could have wet myself. Haven't wet myself since I was a toddler I'm not about to start now at the age of nearly 38! Unless my pelvic floor is battered and I've become incontinent! But it was blatantly my waters as it was an uncontrollable gush. So anyway, got to go back this morning to feotal assessment unit for a scan. If I've got reduced waters they'll get things moving today. Felt a bit better as woman in next cubicle had exactly the same problem as me and was sent home with same advice, keep a pad on overnight, anymore leakage come straight back otherwise come for scan tomorrow. I'm so confused with all of this. Had no pain overnight and feel fine today. What the hell is going on!

Elizadoesdolittle · 08/01/2015 08:42

littlepink how frustrating. Good luck. Hope you get some answers and things get moving.

40+6 - no sign of anything happening here!

Hope this means baby will be here soon Little !

Thanks eliza - spending this morning tidying the house while dh takes ds to the hairdresser. Potentially our last day and night as a family of 3 (have been saying that for 3 weeks!).

Forgot 40+11 / 41+4

sunshineandbiscuits · 08/01/2015 09:16

Morning everyone! Well, something is certainly happening here. I woke up at 4.20am with regular contractions every 10 minutes, tried to doze until 7am when I woke dw (thought there was no point waking her in the middle of the night and leaving her knackered all day). I've been having contractions ever since. They are quite regular but vary a bit between every 5-10 minutes, and mostly last about 30 seconds or so. Not sure if this is definitely the real thing or could still be false labour. I guess we will find out! Dw is going to stay at home until things are clearer.

So far I'm finding it all painful but manageable. My birthing ball and hypnotherapy techniques are definitely helping, but I'm trying hard just to let my body do what it wants and not to worry too much about whether I'm doing it 'right'.

The due date is today/yesterday, so this could be an impressively punctual baby!

40+1

Contractions now 5 minutes apart and getting more intense. Got the TENs machine on now. Looks like this might well be it! I have a midwife appointment in about an hour so still planning to go to that and will see what they say. DSis has just arrived on a (very long-planned) visit, so nice to have plenty of support at home. Just trying to keep things nice and relaxed, nice music, using my birthing ball lots and moving around between contractions.

Good luck to others due/overdue! It's not that bad so far....

Best of luck sunshine, it's all sounding very promising.
I'm feeling rather down after my sweep this morning. I had a much more experienced midwife do it today and she said that my cervix wasn't favourable at all, my Bishop's Score has actually gone down from 2 to 1, and she didn't even manage to get a finger into my cervix before I felt too faint to continue. I mentioned that baby maybe wasn't as active over the past few days so got hooked up to the CTG for an hour. The midwives were flapping about a bit saying movement wasn't great, but the consultant came in and said that it was absolutely fine and very reassuring. So now just waiting for my induction - I doubt anything is going to happy before then Sad

CallingAllEngels · 08/01/2015 15:35

Sounds very promising sunshine - good luck.

chiruri still plenty of time if you're not at term yet. Fx things get moving for you.

Just back from hospital. baby doing fine and am 3-4cm with Bishop's score of 7 so mw is allowed to break my waters at home tomorrow and hopefully ctx will start themselves so I can go to birth centre. If not, I'll be admitted to hospital and on drip.

Finally!!!!!! Have a proper smile on my face for the first time in a couple of weeks. If cervix hadn't finally played ball, they wouldn't have induced me until Sunday at 42 weeks Shock

40+11 - come on baby!

Turns out my complaining was rather unfounded. Delivered my little girl at 7.52am after a ridiculously speedy 4 hour labour! Story to follow.

CallingAllEngels · 09/01/2015 09:57

Congrats chiruri

Mw broke my waters this morning. Ctx already so hoping to be bringing home a baby today.

Elizadoesdolittle · 09/01/2015 09:58

Congrats chiruri!

I had mw app, we don't know sex of baby but she decided to tell me she thinks it's a boy... Anyone think that's unprofessional?
