I did wonder if I had a UTI earlier in week, as things didn't quite feel normal. But now I feel ok. Maybe it has just gone away by itself. Am asuming I would have heard if I needed antibiotics or anything. Is a UTI bad for baby in any way?

40Weeks · 27/10/2006 11:53

There are quite a few sites about inducing labour narurally at home but they can contradict each other - some say Eve Primrose Oil helps ripen the cervix, other sites say its not been tested as safe (although plenty of women have tried it) as it contains the prostaglandins that help start labour, in the same way a a quick bonk with DH would (and more fun!)! Reflexology (ok, not at home but its not medical intervention) and also acupressure which you can do yourself. Apparently with pineapple, you would have to eat about 7 for it to take effect but it cant hurt right? And is good for you. Nipple stimulation is supposed to help as it stimulates oxytocin, the labour hormone but you have to do it regularly and for quite a while (shame, huh? ) With the aromatherapy, I have been advised not to use Rose Oil until week 39 as it can stimulate the uterus to contract so could be worth a try - obv all of this is speculative and would advise you seek medical advice before trying any of it! Am not qualified in any way, but have looked into this myself and will certainly be trying some of them.

Afternoon all!

Charlee: You post made me laugh!

'I feel like telling him he put it in there so he can help get it out!'

Also, the council tax thingy! Perhaps you should ask them if you can pay it in 12 monthly installments !

LOL

Hattie05 · 27/10/2006 12:07

Great news for you Charlee!

I've just had my mw round dropping of the home birth stuff. She says my scan results look as though the baby will be on the large side but in her eyes thats a good thing as the extra weight helps bring the baby down.

Those of you being told heads engaged - don't get your hopes up mines been well engage for at least a couple of weeks now and still know signs of delivery.

I'm drinking raspberry leaf tea and mw just confirmed my thinking (from previous experience) that it does not bring on labour, but it does tone your uterus to make labour more 'efficient'. So i shall continue with it. Other than walking i'm not going to bother with other old wives tales as i just don't think they work. I have asked my mw to have a sweep if i go past my due date though.

purpleluce · 27/10/2006 12:23

morning all 39.5 here saw reflexologist this am who says my pituitary (apparently where it all starts) is "ripe" so good sign.

Am also going to take homeopathic remedy caulophyllum this w/e which is supposed to kick off labour. I have to say, I tried everything last time and I dont know if anything worked (or they all came together to accelerate labour) as once I finally got to 3cm it was all over in under 2 hours. So - who knows?

Lady with leucocytes in your urine...it means white blood cells..could be an infection but could just as easily be "contamination" from discharge mucous sorry for TMI!

Charleesunnysunsun · 27/10/2006 12:24

Hopingcat - Your mw would have called and arranged a prescription if you needed any antibiotics i assume mine has done in the past. I donlt think a UTI would hurt baby if treated but since they're not treating you they must think it's nothing to worry about so i wouldn't worry to much.

Debz99 · 27/10/2006 12:28

I dont know why but I think LO will make an apperance this weekend, no real physical signs just a feeling ! Sorry if this is too much info but I lost alot of a clear jelly looking susbstance last night not sure what it is/was any ideas?

Got to work this morning and desk was decorated and have been presented with pressies and a card, was well impressed I didn't sob !

40Weeks · 27/10/2006 12:31

Is it your last day today Debz? A friend of mine finished up work two weeks ago and on her last day, she got home, called her DH at 7.30 to say she thought her waters had gone, was 9cm by 9pm andhad the baby at 12.14am! No pain during labour, only during the second stage....so good luck - we could all do with a labout like that I reckon! (Although I would like some time off first to relax, even if I can just spend 1 day in bed reading)

FoghornLeghorn · 27/10/2006 12:31

sounds like a show debz. I was trying to remember what mine was like last time but I was a bit delerious by that point. I think it was like a clear snotty sort of goo with pinky streaks.

Debz99 · 27/10/2006 12:34

Yes It's my last day today thought I had better pack in as I'm due a week Sunday LOL ! There was no blood in the snotty jelly stuff it was just clear?

FoghornLeghorn · 27/10/2006 12:49

There doesn't always have to be blood. I didn't have my show until I had been labouring with DD for about 12 hours and had contractions every 2 minutes lasting 1 minute.

Debz99 · 27/10/2006 12:50

Ah right LOL might be a sign then LOL !

40Weeks · 27/10/2006 13:07

Good luck Debz!

staceym11 · 27/10/2006 13:10

hello everyone......well might be getting my hopes up but i think my waters are leaking...have put clean white knickers on (had pink ones on earlier so not much use) to check if its waters or if im just incontinent now im so huge! lol

will keep you all posted!

FoghornLeghorn · 27/10/2006 13:12

Good luck Stacey

Hopefully next time we hear from you your waters will be gushing merrily!

Debz deffo sounds like a show you will probably have more as your servix starts to soften thats when it sometimes get a few streaks of blood in it. There has been loads of threads about shows recently so you can find out loads of info from mumsnet.

I still have very sore bits and tummy i know its tmi but it feels like dp and i have already done the deed several times

Best go feed ds! check in later

FoghornLeghorn · 27/10/2006 13:41

AAARRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG DD is doing everything in her power to make me crack today !

Have put her up for a sleep and 3 times I have gone up there because I can hear her rummaging around in her toys and 3 times she has tipped every single one of her toy boxes completely out and 3 times I have now cleared every single toy up, back in its rightful box back in its rightful place.

GRRRRRR . I just want her to go to sleep, she's been up since 6.15 and is absolutely shattered.

NatalieJane · 27/10/2006 14:06

I have read everything again, and again lost, track... I think my brain has completely melted! But what I do remember is:

Charlee, I am glad the appointment went well, and you can relax a bit about it all now.
Stacey, fingers crossed it is your waters, make sure you keep us up to date, don't go swaning off to give birth and not let us know!!
Good luck to everyone who is on their last day.

I am not doing anything that might bring the labour on (although there are times - like last night - where I would give almost everything and anything to have it all over with!) But I can't risk it until 37 weeks else we will have a major problem with DS.

I am in such a crappy mood today, and we have to nip to Tesco tonight, we have had the shopping delivered the last couple of weeks because I just can't make it all the way around now because the walking brings the contractions on really strong, but we only need a few bits not enough to get delivered, but things we can't do without, i.e. I have 5 slices of bread, no milk, no juice, no toilet roll (we are using kleanex's!!! LOL ) so we do need to go, but it is going to take some effort!! I did have a nice bath though, I am still all wrinkly!

Bethbe · 27/10/2006 14:26

NJ: Have you thought about trying the Tesco internet shop? They can usually deliver the very next morning!

ShinyHappyPurpleSeveredHeads · 27/10/2006 14:34

Debz, that is a SHOW!!!! Woooohooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! I will stand by my phone....

NatalieJane · 27/10/2006 14:35

Yes Beth, we use Tesco to deliver, but we only need literally a few things, less than £20 worth, it doesn't seem worth having it delivered for that much!

I just hope it isn't busy, I get annoyed with people at the best of times but when I have had no sleep what so ever, I know I would be likely to say something. It is so annoying when people stand right across the whole aisle chatting to someone they have met! Or when they park their trolley somewhere and go off around the shop - why do poeple do that?!

Debz99 · 27/10/2006 14:44

Thanks ShinyHappyPurpleSeveredHeads !!!!

Nothing else has happend so dont get too excited LOL !
Went for a burger and a beer at lunch with some of the girls I thoroughly enjoyed the beer LOL ! has left me feeling very relaxed and quite tired LOL !

saralou100 · 27/10/2006 15:12

hi guys!

stacey - hope it is your waters for your sake!!
nj - poor you again!
mygirl - goodluck withe cleaning and pil! remember deep breathing is not just good in labour for helping to keep you calm!
fhlh - sympathise with you! ds has his moments where i could kill him if he doesn't sleep soon!

i'm reallly pissed off with dp today.. he's no help to me whatsoever. went to bed early last night i was so uncomfortable, but did he bother to tidy up after dinner? no, i ended up doing it at 6 'oclock this morning! i had a physio appointment for the spd yesterday, but it really did leave me in lots pain.. so when ds woke up in the night i asked dp to go in and settle him.. what does he do, but take him downstairs to watch tele! i then spent 20 mins listening to my little boy cry because he was tired before i got up and ordered dp back to bed.. 20 mins later i had ds back to sleep, but i was so angry and then i discovered the kitchen! so i've been up since around 5 o'clock - very ratty! still i've used the anger to clean the oven and fridge out.. they were so gross!

rant over

Debz99 · 27/10/2006 15:21
