Stacey sorry about the tax credits, some of us seem to be having some really bad luck at the moment

FB, my DH can be anything up to 3 and a half - 4 hours away (and I was reading on here yesterday about someones DH being out of the country for half of the week!) and on top of that I have DS with absolutely no one to watch him, and they wouldn't entertain the idea of inducing me at all. It seems it has to be a valid medical reason, must admit that is another reason this home birth is a good idea, at least if I am going to be on my own, I am alone in my home, not a hospital room, with out any idea of where DS is!

I wonder how Tinasan is getting on, I'd have thought she will have had her LO by now.

Mummy2Toby · 26/10/2006 18:54

Wow - BIG CONGRATS CattyB although I am slightly - I thought it was going to be my turn last night.
I had reaslly bad period back ache all evening and felt funny, went to bed and woke up at 3:00am with really bad back aches and tummy pains, went downstairs to bounce on my gym ball but ended up being sick for an hour and a half! I blame dh - he was sick the other day, so it must have been a bug! Mind you whilst being sick I was sort of hoping it would bring on labour but it didn't. Went round to my mums today at 10:00am and spent the whole day walking around a shopping centre to try to get things started, got home at 5:15pm, so did quite a bit of walking - am looking forward to a lovely bath tonight and then fingers crossed but I doubt it - I will probably be the last one standing.
Can't stop at the thought of all the lovely babies already.

podglet · 26/10/2006 19:05

Hi all,

Wow look what I missed! Congrats to welshgal, Meandmyboys and CattyB - how fab to see some babies starting to appear1 Good luck to tinasan as well...

Stacey - grr for tax credit people for you, they sound rubbish. Afraid I don't know anything about this so can't be much help except to say that I feel for you and hope it is sorted soon.

well, my news is - I am being induced at 38 weeks (am 36+5 now) had a scan today which showed the baby to be measuring around 39 weeks so the consultant said he didn't want me to go past 38 weeks - just what i wanted too. Have got appointment for next week to be checked again and given my date! all very exciting

Last day at work tomorrow too - hurrah1

Charleesunnysunsun · 26/10/2006 19:08

Wow great news podglet! You will get a deffo date for meeting your LO!

I am having such a home comfort evening i just tucked ds in to bed and am snuggling in front of the roaring fire waiting for my roast to be cooked whilst watching soaps on t.v! What could be better?

After dinner im going to have a warm bubble bath and pop into bed with my new book. pure bliss

Charleesunnysunsun · 26/10/2006 20:59

Ahhhhhhhh!

Finished my bath about to toddle off to bed with my book and hit the hay.
Feeling quite positive about tommorrow i know it's my one and only chance to see the Dr as he's the top obstreatrician (sp?) he's a difficult man to get an audience with! Im however not going to beg or even ask for an induction im am going to listen to him and discuss all options regarding my kidney problem.

Im going to ask.

Will it get worse if left to go full term/overdue?

Will it correct itself after the birth

Will there be any lasting damage

I don't fell desperate enough to actually ask to be induced but if he says it's whats best i'm not going to say no the only way i will ask is if he says that the longer baby is in there the worse my kidney problem will get but that is purley becuase i have a family history of kidney problems so i do have to be carefull. I don't actually want to be induced though i would rather have a natural start so i can chill at home for a while with ds beofre having to go to hospital. So im hoping he says it will be fine to go on and let nature take it's course.

I know im completley rambling but i have been contemplating this in the bath and feel it's good to write it down for future reference. so sorry if im boring you forgive my crazy pergnant lady ways!

Righty ho that enough i am off to bed, heres hoping you all have a good night either sleeping or labouring no aches/pain/sickness please!

Hattie05 · 26/10/2006 21:02

How exciting Podglet!! I don't suppose you know what centile your baby was on in the charts do you?

I had my scan last week but midwife hasn't seen results yet (seeing her tomorrow). I was actually scanned because i had measured small, but sonographer (and i!) were surprised that the baby was on the 95th centile and estimated weight of 6lb7oz at 35 wks. It only just occured to me today and your thread has confirmed that when the midwife sees this it may change the easiness of my home birth? I was expecting a little one because my dd1 weighed 7lb11 at birth at 42 weeks!

Hattie05 · 26/10/2006 21:04

Hope your appt goes well Charlee!

amyjade · 26/10/2006 21:40

Congratulations to welshgal, Meandmyboys and CattyB.

Having a bad week this week me and Dp came down with a sickness bug on monday, not a laughing matter at 35 weeks pregnant!!
feeling much better today just really exhausted.

Had an appointment with consultant yesterday where i got to choose the date for my elective caesarian!! so if all goes to plan LO will be born on Friday 17th November. Hopefully i can hold on till then as Dd2 was born at 37+5 weeks.

How exciting all these new babies!!
Hope all goes well for the the rest of you xx

saralou100 · 27/10/2006 07:04

yay, another baby!! congratulations catty!! hope she's settling in well

i'm so angry at dp right now, i'm typing here to stop myself going upstairs with a knife to murder him in his bed why are men so aaaarrrrggggghhhhhhhh! bloody frustrating selfish arseholes!

Debz99 · 27/10/2006 08:25

Sorry ladies has been manic at work and it's my last day today before I go on Mat Leave hope you are all well.

podglet · 27/10/2006 08:55

Morning!

Came into work this morning to a beautifully decorated desk and balloons - made me cry already!

Hattie - I am off the 95th centile by about 4 mm in each measurement! Consultant wouldn't guess the weight yesterday, he just wrote "big baby" and underlined it - eeek!

Charlee - am so pleased that I will get a date to meet LO! Hope your lovely cosy night in resulted in a lovely nights sleep!

morning everyone!

well still no more activity here but me and dd have to walk into town today as dh has sold yet more crap on ebay (but this time for £155!!) so we gotta go to the post office! hopefully walking will do some good........might even jump on dh tonight just want to get this baby out....am 38 weeks on monday and cant bear this anymore!

as for tax credits il be phoning and arranging to pay over 12 months....sod them they can wait! dont have the energy to fight them about it really!

right am going to get some washing on before i go out honest!!!! oh and can soemone come and do my washing up??? im sure my kitchen isnt at all healthy atm but i just dont hafve the energy to do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FoghornLeghorn · 27/10/2006 10:06

I've not had one dream about the baby for a good few months now but DH seems to be having my share. He dreamt we had to have a cesaerian where they scored out chunks of my stomach and lifted the whole front of with door handles and then there was a big african midwife who told us we had a boy.

God knows where these things come from.

Still nothing to report here, had a few slight period type pains yesterday but nowhere near as bad as they were Wednesday night. With DD my waters broke before I'd even had any contractions so everything seems all new again this time because anything can happen. I keep waking up in the night wishing for my waters to break or to have a show, just something to prove something is getting moving.

40Weeks · 27/10/2006 10:14

Morning all

Am feeling soooo tierd now but less than a week left at work. I cant wait. Tomorrow is the first Sat in AGES that we havent had loads of stuff to do. Just going to fit the car seat (as we have no where else to put it now! we are living at my Mums) and get it checked by a shop near us that makes sure everything is hunky dory and its fitted properly. Also, hubby got offered a company car this week at aork so we wont have to struggle with a two door for very long
For the ladies with 'big babys' - atmy NCT clasess, the teacher showed us a life size cut out of a 7lb baby and a 10lb baby - the only difference was the 10lb was chubbier around arms, legs and tum - and didnt make any difference to the size of the head or shoulders so dont be put off the home births! Honestly, I dont know why the doctors tell you its big - they cant leave well alone! Dont forget Davina McCall had her 10lb at home and she was fine! YOU CAN DO IT! (If you want to of course, if you want to be induced thats also fine, just dont let the docs scare you into it!)

Morning all

I have been to the consultants and we have decided to leave me untill im 40 weeks then induce if im showing no signs of labour, but LO is engaged so he doen't think i will go to 40 weeks.

I still have blood in my urine sample but thats because of my kidney which apparently is caused by being pregnant and is ok to leave as it will only be maximum 3 1/2 weeks, after which they will scan me to check its all working again.

I had the consultant and a student dr today the student felt LO's head after the consultant and she really bloomin hurt me god knows what LO was thinking! Apparently 2nd babies don;t engage untill they very, very end so hopefully the end is nigh, im going to spend all week eating super hot curry's and maybe pursuade dp to 'do the deed' to help me along. Musn't let him know its for hope of getting things started or he says he feel's used. I feel like telling him he put it in there so he can help get it out!

Anyway baby is measuring perfect for dates which is good, so all in all im allowed to go it alone for 3 1/2 more weeks so im keeping my fingers crossed. A good appointment really

Anyway this will make you laugh i just got sent a letter from the council apparently they will be after a court summons in 7 days if we don't pay our council tax arrears its a whopping £1! They are taking the piss i feel like going and throwing a fiver at them and telling them to keep the bloody change! I had no idea i had under payed by one whole pound!

NatalieJane · 27/10/2006 11:25

I have just read through all the messages, but most of it I have forgotten sorry!

I spent all night in the babies room, re-folding his clothes, then getting them all back out and folding them again.... I moved all of the bit's and pieces around, and finally got to bed about 3.30, but, I wasn't having contractions hardly at all, I just couldn't stop faffing in there, I was getting really cross knowing I should have been trying to sleep while I wasn't hurting, and then obviously as soon I managed to stop and got into bed, the contractions kicked in big style, started timing them after about an hour, every 3 minutes lasting over a minute, the pressure in my bum was imense, and was as uncomfortable as the contractions themselves, I honestly thought this is it, I got DH up, he made us a cup of tea and we sat and waited for a while, but here we are - no sleep later, and no baby either!!

I am so f*cked off now, I had just got to the point where I wasn't letting the contractions get me down anymore, and now I feel as bad as I did when it all first started two weeks ago

I am going to go and get in a nice warm bath, catch you all later xxx

FoghornLeghorn · 27/10/2006 11:25

Good news Charlee

Is that really true about second babies ? When i saw a consultant 2 weeks ago he said LO was 3/5 engaged.

FoghornLeghorn · 27/10/2006 11:26

Am also seriously contemplating doing the deed too. Told DH a few days ago I might need his help with getting the baby moving and he used the feeling used trick on me too, come to think of it he did with DD too.

I ate a hole pineappple yesterday and have made my mouth sore.

Also, tmi alert. Have really dodgy tummy atm, has been like it since wednesday.

FoghornLeghorn · 27/10/2006 11:28

Cross posts NJ - for you. I feel bad for moaning when you are in so much pain with your contractions to no avail.

Charleesunnysunsun · 27/10/2006 11:30

FHLH - I didn't know that about second babies either but My consultant said apparently they don't usually engage untill the last week or even a few hours before labour! But i suppose it's possible for them to in some cases? I know DS was engaged real early so who knows?

I am 36+3 now same as you i think? Spooky both due on the same date both with kids the same age except you have a DD and i have a DS!

I haven't had a dodgy tummy but do have a painfull stomach and bits after that bloomin student poking me!

Charleesunnysunsun · 27/10/2006 11:32

NJ - Sorry to hear your having a rough time still, just try and keep strong and positive untill that all important 37 week mark. I know that sounds so easy to do but so hard to put into practice. Hopefully all these contractions will make your labour quick and easy. [hugs to you]

HopingCat · 27/10/2006 11:35

Congratulations CattyB!
No news here really. I've felt a few odd pains low down in bump and have had much stronger braxton hicks over the last few days, so it feels closer. I'm still not due for another 10 days so I feel encouraged that my body is gearing up already. Of course, I may still be here in 2 or 3 weeks time!
Are we all trying anything to bring labour on? I've been for a couple of walks to see if gravity will help, and it does seem to make the braxton hicks worse. Also tried curry a couple of nights, which isn't working.
Has anyone else been told they have lucocytes in their wee? My mw sent my sample away for testing on Tuesday but I've not heard anything since. Anyone know what it might mean?

Charleesunnysunsun · 27/10/2006 11:39

Hopingcat - I think it can mean a UTI nothing serious i should think.

The home techniques for getting things started i have heard are.

Sex
Hot/Spicey Food
Long Walks
Fresh Pineapple

Various massages with essential oils but i wouldn't recomend them unless you know what your doing TBH.

Luckily for me my mums a qualified aromatherapist!
