I just asked this on another thread but haven't got an answer - wondered if any of you might!

Thought of forceps/suction thingy freaks me out, - both for damage to me and damage to my LO! Is it reasonable to refuse and insist on C/S if it looks likely, - or am I going way over the top?

Appreciate any advice.........

harrogatemum · 27/10/2006 15:53

bethbe - I had ventouse with my twins as they kept "slipping back round the corner" as the doctor put it! I didnt even notice - they just had a little shape on their heads for a day and then it disappeared!

Cant comment on forceps though but sure someone will be along shortly who can!

staceym11 · 27/10/2006 15:54

hi everyone.....well no more waters so either it was a tiny leak thats sealed itself or im officailly incontinent! lol

one good thing and way TMI alert here, i can now feel my cervix while sat on the toilet which i couldnt a few days ago so am hoping that these pains iv been having are acctually doing something even if it doesnt feel like a lot. i cant wait to have my baby in my arms now!!

oh and my boobs are leaking and im not putting it lightly, cant believe how much milk is falling out of them, i never leaked with dd till after she was born, this is really odd!

staceym11 · 27/10/2006 15:56

stop posting while im not looking!!

bethbe sorry cant help, but did know a lo who had ventouse who had a little 'cap' on her head for a few months, other than that she was jsut fine, dont really know about the mother tho, we werent that close.

not much help i know, but sure someone will be able to soon!

Bethbe · 27/10/2006 16:01

Stacey: Congrats on the erm.....feeing your cervix! I'm not sure whether I'm jealous or not of you lot that have things happening. NJ and Charlee etc. seem mighty uncomfortable, but I'm just boring with mild niggles and nothing much happening at all!

Bethbe · 27/10/2006 16:07

Debz,

Perhaps we could start a new thread (I know it seems like we're starting a new one every day), but if you have slow connection at home, it can take forever to download 700ish posts!

Bethbe

staceym11 · 27/10/2006 16:08

lol.....thanks for my congrats! how odd this whole mumsnet thing is....where else could you tell people you barely know that you felt your cervix?!?!

its really hard, firstly not wanting to go through the pain and then on the other hand wanting it all over and done with.

40Weeks · 27/10/2006 16:28

LOL Stacey, I know what you mean; I am at work and I have to make sure that no one can read this over my shoulder as they would no doubt be totally freaked out!
Am also really excited at seeing new member of my family! Cant believe its so close now. My Mum just called me, she was in Baby Gap and I asked her to get my some baby socks to keep LO feet snug....but then had to text her to get me some maternity pads from Boots as couldnt say it out loud in the office!!

staceym11 · 27/10/2006 16:31

lol 40weeks.............its a very odd world isnt it?

my dad used to buy my mums tampons for her coz she was too embarrased! oh and at 13 my 15 yr old bro asked me to buy condoms for him as he was too embarrsed! very strange world if you ask me! hehe, love mumsnet tho....very odd virtual world!

40Weeks · 27/10/2006 16:53

Indeed it is! I am off now and not sure I will be on over the weekend - good luck everyone - who knows what news Monday will bring!
Have fun xxx

CattyB · 27/10/2006 16:54

Hello!
Good to catch up with all thats happening. Still can't beleive my lo is actually here. I expected to go well over my dates (per prediction) - as did the mw who has been at all my previous births and was going to make a special effort to be with me this last time (to the extent she booked her holidays this week and missed it).

My labour as I said was fairly short and easy. I was out at a Scout Group meeting (I'm a Cub leader) until 9. Starting contracting a bit after that but didn't think much of it. Asked DH to put tens machine on and went to bed fully expecting everything to calm down and stop. Things kept ticking along with contractions every 5 min or so. Called my mum (who lives about 1.5hrs away) and MW about 11:30 as felt that things were probably going to keep going. Got in my pool which I had instructed DH to fill before I went out - just in case and MW arrived just after 12. All was fine with contractions either being huge and lasting for ages or being a bit useless to the extent I thought that maybe I was a bit of a fraud and asked the mw to examine me as all she had done up until then was listen in to baby a couple of times. But just after that I started to feel pushy and 3 contractions later I had her head in my hands and was able to deliver her myself - still in her membranes. Poor mum (who has also been at all my previous births) missed due to the crappy weather and her lack of ability to buy petrol but was there in time to dress my little girl grin]

Sorry to hear that your uterus is still being a pain NJ - on the positive side maybe all these contractions will make it super toned and efficient so that when labour does start it is quick and easy - you can but live in hope

Debz - sounds like my show.. had a wee bit wed morning and Katie was with us that night...

Stacey - is it your waters? (million dollar question) Wishing you well. Do you still need boy stuff - I have loads of boys stuff but no need for it - happy to send it down to you if you want.

All well here. Katie is beautiful and lovely (in a little old man way) and I've finally got it into my head that she's a girl - just haven't got her name in there yet - called her Gordy loads last night. The wee minx fed from 1:30 - 6:30 this morning. She's in bed with us so not a huge deal but everytime I switched off the light she'd un-attach and I had to switch it back on... the joys of motherhood Glad she's such a good feeder.

I wonder if having a night birth makes Lo's more inclined to be wakeful at night. All my boys were born during the day and I don't remember any of them being awake all night. Just a thought..

anyway apologies for the huge post prob missed loads of action while typing.. Good luck to everone x

Love and best wishes and good births to you all.

CattyB · 27/10/2006 16:55

I didn't!! (makes a change)

Charleesunnysunsun · 27/10/2006 16:58

Stacey - Shame it's not waters though i have heard that your fore waters can puncture then repair themselves or it may have been hind waters not sure which? Big congratultions on the Crevix thing though! I have got DP on a promise tonight and Indian takeaway on it's way later for dinner. I know there old wives tales and nothing would make baby come unless it's ready but it's fun trying!

Debz - Do try to pop in we can start a new thread to make things quicker for you!

I don't know anything about forceps or ventous im afraid so i can't offer any words of wisdom. sorry!

NatalieJane · 27/10/2006 17:43

Catty it is lovely to hear how you are all getting on How have the boys taken to her?

Stacey, sorry it doesn't seem to be your waters, all of this stop/start/stop/start is enough to drive anyone up the bloody wall!

I am not liking today at all, I am sat watching the clock, knowing DH is going to be home any minute which means we have to go to Tesco... I feel like crying at just the thought of it It doesn't help that for the first time in bout 2 weeks I have got heartburn, really really badly, the back of my throat feels burnt.

Sorry for being so grumpy and for moaning again!

LadyAnne1stTimeMum · 27/10/2006 18:04

Hi all

NatalieJane - I'm feeling similar DP is due back any minute and expecting dinner, he'll be lucky - I have absolutely no idea where my head is at the moment. Spent most of the day sleeping. Madwife came along this morning and spent quite a lot of time here - which was nice. Another one is due tomorrow as my BP has gone up again - and I'll probably see one daily from now on. I had hands like sausages this morning and still feel a little 'fluey'. Seeing consultant on Wednesday - lucky it's near the day assessment place so I won't have to hang about so much. Baby has engaged a little and is 'perfect' size and 'perfect' position..and perfectly lively... Pity it's mum isn't doing so well.

All the best everyone... LA

Charleesunnysunsun · 27/10/2006 18:47

Got my Curry on the way and have informed DP that we will be 'doing it' tonight! I know it wont be comfortable but we will have to manage i figure every night for about a week or two should have some effect!!!!

NJ - I hope shopping isnt to bad for you, they have wheelchairs at our local Tesco could your DH push you in one since you only need a few bits? I did this last time i was pregnant with DS.

I'm having a rough time with ds today his feeding routine has gone completley to pot again. He's slowly slipped back into the habit of eating crap food and having me hold his plate while he picks at his food.
I feel im going to have to go right back to scratch and start putting him at the table over and over again with tiny meals and be tough with him untill he gets the hang of things again. It's just so frustrating!!!

Charleesunnysunsun · 27/10/2006 19:57

Curry was delicious! It's a new place we have never used before.

We got

2 free sides
2 free samosas
2 free salads
2 free relishes

And the delivery guy accidently gave us £10 extra change! Will have to tip him generously next time

DebbsyandBibby · 27/10/2006 20:33

NatalieJane · 27/10/2006 23:02

Well, we made it round Tesco, contractions coming thick and fast still, not getting my hopes up again though!

Debbsy, I get a lot of pressure down in my bum whenever the contractions have a 'bad' spell, I thought this was because he had engaged, but the m/w said he isn't engaged, and she wouldn't expect him to be until just before or while I am in real labour.

Charleesunnysunsun · 28/10/2006 08:14

NJ - Did anything materialise from your contractions? Glad you made it round Tesco i have a dreaded trip out shopping later, i hate being this big and uncomfortable.

So much for my lovley curry i was up all night hugging the toilet as it revisited with vengence.

Not doing alot today DP is working late again so he wont be back untill lunch time. Just me and ds pottering about the house in our pj's.

I hope your all ok have a good weekend if i don;t speak to you before.

purpleluce · 28/10/2006 08:26

Morning all, have I been around long enough to moan about dh? So he is sleeping downstairs and me upstairs at mo as I keep getting stranded like a turtle in the middle of the night and he has a streaming cold. He has a double bed so it is no great pain but you would think that the sacrifice was immense.

What this actually enables him to do is watch rugby club till all hours then sleep in for at least an hour after I get woken up by dd and try to keep her upstairs till 7am before coming down and crashing round. So I am knackered (again this am) having woken up at 5am to go to the loo then only dozed until dd woke up at 6.15. We came downstairs at 7am and dh got up, had fall out with dd over volume on leappad (and is disapproving if she watches telly first thing too) and has gone upstairs to our room and gone back to bed...................It is a tough life being an expectant father isn't it!

DD is 3 yrs and although sometimes v happy about new baby brother or sister is also very emotional and clingy to me. She has also been potty trained for almost a year and keeps relapsing to weeing her pants for no apparent reason any tips or similar experiences ladies?

Thanks for allowing the whinge...it does help!

Hattie05 · 28/10/2006 08:39

Morning all,

Charlee it must feel so frustrating for you with all these contractions!

Purpleluce - no advice i'm afraid, but i'm guessing we're going to have to let our older ones have these little mishaps! and hope its a phase. My dd has been sleeping through the night without nappies with once in a blue moon bed wetting incidents but they too seem to be getting more frequent the closer to a baby arriving in the house! I'm thinking i just won't makea fuss and hope that it just is a phase.

Debbsy, yes i'm getting those pains. Kinda cramp in the bottom and agony where the head seems to grind on me i'm told its been very low for a couple of weeks so i guess each time it twists or anything its causing immense pain bringing tears to my eyes last night!

purpleluce · 28/10/2006 08:43

Thanks Hattie - How old is your older one by the way?
