zampa can they really do a scan as detailed as the 20 week one this early? I would have thought everything would still be too small to see clearly. Even at the 20 week one they find it hard to check everything because of size.

Aretepetite · 10/01/2015 21:41

Hi all

It has taken me hours to catch up and I have been lurking !!

Nice to see all the bump pics Grin and hear all the good news re scans, we are nearly all done, I think Pip may be last if I remember correctly. I think with how awful I felt during the first trimester and practically slept through it, it feels like it's went fast now ! I can't believe I am 15+4 Shock nearly half way Confused aha x

Scary we have a doppler and I too have heard baby's hearbeat Smile I never had one in previous pgs and found it reassuring. It only arrived Thursday, my scan was 18/12 and although I've felt flutters I've had no definite 'kicks' so it was a lovely feeling to hear the heartbeat Smile

Just wanted to check in. You all sound good Smile nearly your scan times Broody Number & Lordy Grin Was peeved to hear about the sheer rudeness you both had Bust & Butler the way I've been feeling I fear I may have lost it had it been me Confused

Welcome to all the new ladies, our summer beans are still expanding :)

Sorry if I missed anyone out Flowers it's been good catching up :) xx

ginger and *nature When I did the NIFTY test (basically the same as Harmony but testing in Hong Kong instead of the US) I also got an amazingly detailed scan, just like Zampa described. The sonographer highlighted all the little details she was looking for, like different shading for the neural tube closing and bladder function, cardiac function. Felt very comforting and contrasted rather massively with my NHS 12 week scan two weeks later, tbh

BadIdeaBear · 10/01/2015 22:42

My bump has been starting to get in my way a bit too and definitely feels weird when I crouch down or against a counter. Funny, isn't it? And yet it's still tiny!

Still a little teary but mainly today I've been well grumpy.

WiIdfire · 11/01/2015 06:31

For me the Maternity exemption certificate was from my GP receptionists. I just had to ask for it, didnt need an appointment with the GP or anything. It arrived in the post a week later.

owlsandbadgers · 11/01/2015 06:41

Morning all, I've been lurking for weeks and haven't been on a thread for ages as lots going on at home, so nice to see all the scan and bump pictures, I have our scan this morning and am feeling very nervous but excited! Ive hardly slept at all, and still feeling very nauseous, but hopefully that will pass soon. Hope you all have a lovely day!

ohlordyplordy · 11/01/2015 07:03

Good luck today owls, I just know i'll feel exactly the same on Friday when I have my first scan. When we see it there on the screen it will become that bit more real and all the irrational fears will hopefully ease. Plus we'll be able to start telling everyone, so it stops being our little secret, which has been a nice feeling.

LaLa5 · 11/01/2015 07:37

Owls good luck!

I got my maternity exemption form from my mw. She forgot originally though so I phoned and she posted it

Number3cometome · 11/01/2015 08:16

Good luck Owls

I came home from football yesterday had some Indian then fell asleep on the chair. Woke up about 9ish feeling sick and heart racing so took a blood pressure tablet and went to bed. Woke up this morning feeling very unpregnant. So worried about my scan on Saturday thinking what if baby hasn't made it from the last scan and I thought I felt movement the other day but now nothing since? I think my anxiety is getting to me Sad

Zampa · 11/01/2015 08:37

Number I don't really feel very pregnant right now, as the nausea has reduced and my boobs are no longer sore. I'm just relying on the fact that the last scan showed a healthy baby and the risks of miscarriage are now very low. Please don't worry, although it is only natural.

Pipbin · 11/01/2015 08:39

Exactly what Zampa said. In fact if you look up 12 weeks on the pregnancy bit of Mumsnet then it says you will stop feeling pregnant now.
I'm going to say try not to worry but I know that's pointless.

Thepurplegiraffe · 11/01/2015 08:42

Number I keep worrying too as I was sure I felt movement a few times last week and now nothing for ages. I keep lying there trying to feel something but nothing. I am telling myself that the baby has moved position and is just not in a place where I can feel it anymore. It is still really early for feeling anything.

Zampa · 11/01/2015 08:44

Ginger/Nature; as Bear said the contrast between my private scan and the NHS scan was huge. Note, I'm not knocking the latter, as it has a different role.

At my Harmony scan, I was shown the brain separation, the formation of the ventricles, the nasal bone and face shape, 4 heart chambers and stomach position. We didn't look at the lungs or spine but the nuchal fluid was measured. The sonographer talked through what each meant and it was fascinating.

But we paid through the nose for the privilege and I'm imagining that the same items (and more) are picked up in the 20 week NHS scan.

ohlordyplordy · 11/01/2015 08:46

Anyone looking for maternity clothes, the mamas and papas website has some really good deals in the sale.

Natanotherone · 11/01/2015 08:54

Thanks for the maternity wear tip! I literally ebayed all mine the week before Christmas and went out and bought all new work clothes etc... oooops!

Telling my brothers fiancé today... I have a feeling she is not going to be happy as she is a total bridezilla and I was measured for my maid of honour dress months ago for May wedding as it is being handmade at a ridic price. Whoooooooppppsssss... Hopefully something can be done or she has a friend who can step in.

Asos also have some good deals on mat clothes and hands down comfiest maternity jeans I ever owned were a pair of skinny ASDA ones that cost £12... As opposed to the £40 ones from top shop etc!

Would anyone be interested in a Facebook group? If so I will set one up but make it private so others cannot see posts etc x

ohlordyplordy · 11/01/2015 09:11

oh no nat, ebaying all of your maternity clothes clearly evoked the rule of sod!!
Definitely up for joining a fb group after my scan on Friday. I had a cp in Oct and was already in the June AN group and fb group and it was quite upsetting having to leave. So don't want to tempt fate until I see the little monkey wriggling on screen Smile.

Bustherb · 11/01/2015 09:23

Good luck owl Envy

Yes I'll join a Facebook group.

I woke up at 7am with what I think I felt was movement. It was like bubbles popping on one side of my belly. Xx

LaLa5 · 11/01/2015 09:24

Bus I have that but thought it was wind! Blush

Bustherb · 11/01/2015 09:40

Oh maybe it is then ha ha ha xx

BadIdeaBear · 11/01/2015 09:43

I got my maternity exemption card about a week/ 10 days after my booking in appt - so in mid December. Should probably go and use it at the dentist as I'm pretty sure I need a filling...

I'd join a Facebook group too.

My bump is smaller in the mornings... hmmm, I guess I have to accept that some of that may be wind!

broodylicious · 11/01/2015 09:46

Yep I'm up for a fb group as long as it's secret so you can't find it in any search results. I wouldn't join until after my scan on Wednesday, too much like tempting fate.

ScaryMartian · 11/01/2015 09:56

Good luck owl .

Thanks for the mat wear tip. I went through my stuff and realised half of it is horrible (what was I thinking) which leaves me with only a pitiful amount when I thought I had loads!

Arete - the doppler has def given me peace of mind. It seems such a long time between the 12 week scan and the 16 week appointment. I think I need to lay off it a bit though as this morning I had to stay calm as took me a while to find the heartbeat!

number try not to fret (ha, impossible I know) I def have days where I don't feel pg at all.

Naturegirl82 · 11/01/2015 10:17

zampa sounds detailed but they cover a lot more at the 20 week scan. Even somethings are still really little for them to be able to see properly at that stage.

I'm at a christening today. Hoping I don't look too much like a porker standing next to the girl who is due a week before me.

Naturegirl82 · 11/01/2015 10:19

Asos also have a sale on at the minute which is worth checking out.

Natanotherone · 11/01/2015 10:54

In order to set up the facebook group I need to add at least one friend to it.

I will then leave the group on "closed" rather than secret for a day so people can request to join. After that I will move it to secret and then as people want to join we can add them to it ourselves.

Name of group is: Mumsnet July '15 Mummies

If someone friend requests me (you can delete me after if you wish) then I can add you to the group and set it up.

My name is Natalie Craig, photo is one of me and my husband and cover picture is of my daughter and a Minnie mouse teddy.
