You don't legally have to tell work until 15 weeks before the beginning of the week your baby is due. That's when you have to notify them that you want to take maternity leave.

Can't believe she isn't showing at 18 weeks number Shock

I'm seeing someone on Sunday who is due the week before me. I am going to look a right heifer standing next to her as she will be tiny still!

Naturegirl82 · 09/01/2015 12:12

Fx you get a nice sonographer number and they let you. Do they offer the opportunity to buy videos of the scan, as if they don't I think they will be more likely to say yes.

Number3cometome · 09/01/2015 12:15

Naturegirl82

I was the same with DS (first baby), didn't show until about 20 weeks, even then was tiny!!

Here is a pic of my 7 1/2 month bump with DS - would you believe he was a 9lb baby!!!!

I'm defo going to be big this time, got with with DD too and early on.

It's all stretched now haha

Naturegirl82 nah pics only (£5)

ohlordyplordy · 09/01/2015 12:19

Hi twinky, I've been lurking as there hasn't been much going on to report!
I know, such a coincidence. Me and OH were talking earlier in the week, wondering when my scan would be and I told him that a chesterfield mner had booking apt just before xmas and has scan 16th jan, so we assumed i'd be the week after. When I told him the date of the apt he said, ooh you might meet the mner. If we'd had similar apt times we'd have had to wear a flower in our lapel like people meeting on blind dates in films Grin.

WantToGoingTo · 09/01/2015 12:20

Can't believe how much they charge for pics Shock it is a rip off! Luckily I got them free cos I work there and my mum is head if dept but £5 per pic is ridiculous!!

Naturegirl82 · 09/01/2015 12:22

Wow number that's a tiny bump! I was huge with dd1 as well so assuming it will be the same again. I didn't look pregnant from behind though, it was all out front!

Number3cometome · 09/01/2015 12:22

I'm hoping they put the money towards something useful!

WantToGoingTo · 09/01/2015 13:42

Baby Want!

MisterSafetyCatchIsNotOn · 09/01/2015 13:50

£5 is a lot! Ours is £2 per picture I think, I don't really mind as I'm sure they need all the extra they can get at the moment! Naturegirl my bump was also very small with DS (he was only 6 lb though) and it definitely wasn't obvious at 18 weeks. Must have stretched though as I'm already showing this time!

Fleur I felt just the same and chickened out of telling work a couple of times before Christmas. I think for me it was partly the fear of being seen differently, not just as me but as a baby incubator! It makes it all feel a bit more real too. Also it feels such a personal thing at this stage (well it is an intimate, personal thing I suppose) and I am generally quite reserved about sharing personal stuff outside of family. However I have had a brilliant reaction from work this time and do feel relieved, so it's probably worth getting it over with! I also realised that, given the amount of annual leave I will need to use up there are less than 5 months to go until I will be on leave so they are not getting as much notice as I had thought!

MisterSafetyCatchIsNotOn · 09/01/2015 13:50

Aah, great picture Want!

Overtiredbackagain · 09/01/2015 14:25

£2 a picture?! I was charged £6 a picture last week, but remember paying that with DD and DS, so its been that for 10 years plus!

Lovely picture Want x

Fleurchamp · 09/01/2015 14:35

I don't know how much our pictures were at the hospital, DH only came back with one voucher and so I suspect they were not cheap.

We have loads from FMC though Grin

I can understand why the NHS charges though, the scans are for medical reasons not momentos.

Thepurplegiraffe · 09/01/2015 14:39

Ours are £3 per picture. We were going to buy 2 but she said we could have all 4 that she had already printed for the same price.

I only really started showing at 6 months last time and was never big. Not sure if that was because I couldn't eat or because dd ended up being breech with her legs squashed up around her ears. The only reason they realised they realised she was breech was because I was measuring small for dates at 39 weeks. I'm not showing this time either yet and I'm 14 weeks tomorrow but I can see it is going to happen alot sooner.

LaLa5 · 09/01/2015 14:43

Here's baby La!

S/he jumped up and down so much it was hard for the lady to measure :)

I've been put forward 3 days to 14th July

Number3cometome · 09/01/2015 14:47

Lala ahh brilliant picture!

Why can't today be Thursday!!!

Who's left to have scans apart from me?

12 weeks tomorrow woop woop!

broodylicious · 09/01/2015 16:13

number, I'm still to be scanned - think I'm the only one who hasn't had any scan yet so no idea if I've dreamt all this...Grin

Overtiredbackagain · 09/01/2015 16:22

15 weeks today. Still waiting for quad results but no news is good news?!! Had confirmation of my anti d jab, so something is happening [impatient]

Fleurchamp · 09/01/2015 16:33

broody I take my hat off to you, I would not have the patience

ohlordyplordy · 09/01/2015 16:33

I've also not had any scan yet - mine's next Friday. it will all be real then :)

Bustherb · 09/01/2015 16:39

Thanks for the feedback on the midwifery lead units, I'm defo putting it down as my first choice!

Lovely pictures ladies! Wink

One of my work colleagues said to me today infront of the whole office ... 'Can I ask the dreaded question then, was it planned ?' Not that she gave me a chance to say no to her first bit. How rude, who does she actually think she is!! I don't mind family and close friends asking me as I've always been the one that didn't want kids but for a work colleague to ask me, how bloody rude! Angry

14 & 3 today Grin I haven't got a bump whatsoever! Although I'm still being sick now and again too so I'm still loosing weight Confused xx

broodylicious · 09/01/2015 16:53

High five lordy!

broodylicious · 09/01/2015 16:58

High five lordy!

broodylicious · 09/01/2015 16:59

How effing rude bust! I'd have punched her in the mood I'm in these days!

Butler4 · 09/01/2015 17:02

So today I had a call from the finance woman at work (work in school) who said she had heard through the grapevine I was expecting and was shocked that I hadn't told her and the headteacher! She was so rude and horrible on the phone I was shocked that she would speak to someone like that! I said I had told my line manager on Monday who told me she was unaware of next stage so would speak with head teacher and get back to me asap. Turns out my boss hasn't bothered telling her and has made me look like a fool!
So they heard in staff room! Felt like a child apologising to headteacher but explained it wasn't my intention. She was fine but haven't seen my
Line manager yet! Absolutely ragin and just had to get it off my chest! Argh!
Headteacher was away to have words with my line manager about procedure!
