Naturegirl82 Snap, DC3, belly is high and button ready to pop soon.

I wasn't temperature charting but I did notice (sorry TMI) CM on the 1st of November (which I NEVER usually get) so suspect that was the day I actually ovulated which would make the early scan pretty accurate.

I had a day 21 (which was actually day 23) progesterone blood test which showed a level of just 10. My doctor said I didn't ovulate (but has since back tracked saying you get low levels if you ovulate within a couple of days of the test)

I think what threw me was that I was only 10dpo when I tested positive so assumed I must be 4 1/2 weeks gone, when infact I was probably only 3 1/2. My last period was on the 11/10, so I guess I did infact ovulate on day 21?

So yeah the scan is probably right actually.

But who cares I want my 12 weeks scan now now now! Envy

naty1 · 08/01/2015 11:41

Yes the scan was up to just under belly button which seems strange as it should be at belly button at 20w (the top of uterus). But i guess im quite short 5'4. And they must need to get angles on baby so may be there but angled downward etc.
If you have say 35 day cycles ovulation may be around day 21 so 7 days late.

Naturegirl82 · 08/01/2015 11:45

Number from the CM etc I would say you ovulated late. So hopefully your scan will be fine. It's awful waiting though isn't it especially seeing all these other scan pics. Not so bad for me as I found out so late!

I too have PCOS so am very familiar with all of this. I was dreading ttc for this reason so we just stopped using contraception to see what would happen. So I charted for years just to see what was going on (nothing much when you only have about 3 cycles a year!) but luckily after 4 years we conceived 5 weeks into my cycle while we were waiting for my next cycle so we could start ttc properly! That's why we decided to let nature take it's course this time just hadn't expected for it to be quite so quick! How we conceived this one I won't know, as periods hadn't returned and our bedroom antics were minimal shall we say due to dd1 still feeding through the night Blush

misseskimo · 08/01/2015 11:49

Good bumps coming along!

Congrats tiny and small on your positive scans today Smile

I just had a meeting with my boss, he has approved my sickpay for December so I will get my normal salary, however he still needs to speak to HR again about any sickness going forward as apparently I only get 20days in a 12m period. So need to work out how that leaves me... He has also said he is happy with my two options I've given for leave. I've said I'd like to book a year just in case, but my aim would be to do 6m then come back 4days a week for 6m using my accrued holiday. He is fine with either option, so just looking into money now as to what will be best of us. As DH wants to look at split maternity 6m each.

Number3cometome · 08/01/2015 12:02

naty1 Anything from 35-60 odd days before I had DD. However, the period the month before conception was my first ever 28 day exactly!

After DD I went on to Cerazette (this was 7 years ago) and didn't have any periods at all.

I stopped cerazette in July, and was pregnant within 3 months. It was a shock as DS took 18 months, DD 4 years to conceive.

I had 3 mc's before DS and was due to start chlomid when I fell naturally with him - with DD they wouldn't assist so I waited the 4 years without any contraception and luckily fell pregnant without assistance - dates were also out on scans and LMP.

When I had an early scan with DD, the Sonographer said to me that the left ovary was completely cystic and large in measurements. I assumed that's why it had taken me so long to get pregnant. I also had high prolactin levels (2000)

This time new partner, 3rd month pregnant, despite month 2 and month 3 showing low progesterone (I had tests due a totally seperate blood test showing high prolactin (1000+, the doc wanted to rule out some problems)

I was shocked to be pregnant so quickly. At the early scan for this DC I took my old notes, the Sonographer said the left ovary was clear (shock!) and that the right ovary had a cyst on it which will be monitored.

Who knows, perhaps the cerazette helped, maybe my diet or maybe just not living with the ex-arsehole and all the stress. Either way my partner was like 'told you so, super sperm' haha

I feel absolutely blessed to be pregnant again, I was convinced it would take longer than DD.

Sorry for the waffle on!

Number3cometome · 08/01/2015 12:03

misseskimo Great news!

Naturegirl82 · 08/01/2015 12:09

Number the cysts associated with PCOS are follicles developing for ovulation but they don't develop where one is the likely looking target to be released, so they can come and go. That's part of the reason it is only one symptom of the syndrome and isn't necessary for diagnosis. First scan I had showed nothing, but my GP sent me for another scan of another organ (can't remember which) and the sonographer decided to scan my ovaries as well while I was there and that was when they found my cysts.

It was high prolactin levels after suspected appendicitis (that they then assumed was a cyst) that started the process of me getting diagnosed. My GP had to keep checking that I wasn't in fact breastfeeding they were that high! Hate to think what they would be at the moment!

I'm currently trying to decide if I need to cancel my endocrinology consultant appointment. It's just a routine check up to see how I am getting on with the medication, but I've stopped taking it again because of being pg. So not sure it is necessary. I should really give them a call to find out.

Naturegirl82 · 08/01/2015 12:10

Good news miss. Did you manage to find out if it was a set 12 months i.e. Jan-Dec or rolling 12 months for sick leave. When does your holiday leave year go from and to as sometimes they are the same.

naty1 · 08/01/2015 12:15

The pill is almost the only treatment for pcos so it could have helped. (I found it makes me moody)
Probably similar to nature getting pg while bf, we seem better if we havent been having cycles.
I have no idea if i was ever ovulating as we mainly had sperm issues.

Number3cometome · 08/01/2015 12:17

Naturegirl82 in my last blood test (when the progesterone was 10) my doc said that my blood tests indicated that I was only 'borderline' PCOS.

At that point I had thinning of the hair, but my skin was perfect.

Before DD, I was heavier, thin hair and very spotty, so perhaps hormone levels had changed? The indication I was given was that nothing was going to happen on the left side as it was cystic (which now clearly isn't!)

With the prolactin I have no idea what goes on there. My GP said she would send me for a scan if it constantly remained high but i'm pg now so not interested. I don't have leaking milk, so wasn't too concerned.

You should keep your appointment, prolactin can get really high in pregnancy can't it?

Number3cometome · 08/01/2015 12:18

naty1 I'd heard horror stories about Cerazette but it's the only pill GP will prescribe me. Clearly done me no hard!

Naturegirl82 · 08/01/2015 12:26

I don't know about prolactin in pregnancy number. I don't think I had any problems last time but only got referred back to the endocrinologist post pregnancy.

Those with PCOS did you know it can place you at higher risk of gestational diabetes so mention it to your mw as you may need to have the glucose tolerance test.

broodylicious · 08/01/2015 12:46

Just out of interest, am I the only one who hasn't had any scan yet? 12 weeks today.

StoneBaby · 08/01/2015 12:51

nature I have PCOS and Type 1 Diabetes. This DC is the result of 4 cycles of clomid and 5 cycles of gonal-f injections. DS was all natural and came after 9 months of ttc! This one took 2.5 years

misseskimo · 08/01/2015 13:12

Nature sickness is rolling 12m, and holiday is jan-dec. Just been told my sickness Tuesday will be unpaid and then any further from now till it evens out Sad

WantToGoingTo · 08/01/2015 13:20

number my DH also thinks he has super sperm - I came off pill mid- September, had a period mid-October and then bam I was pg! The one and only natural period I have had in 8+yrs! Never thought it would happen so quickly. I tested positive at 10dpo, and know I ovulated on cd15 due to cm and positive ovulation test :) when went to 9w scan I was 8+6 by lmp and scan said I measured 9+0 so pretty accurate!

Met with new boss today, had to tell her as she doesn't start til 2 feb. I think she was a bit shocked/ scared to lose me after 5m in job, as her first qn was was it expected!! Ov only known her 5mins! Lol she seems nice though.

Eek 12w scan tomorrow...

Mrsc020987 · 08/01/2015 13:31

Broody still waiting, got letter on Tuesday to say my scan is tomorrow at 2! So excited and starting to have irrational worries, baby number 3 and with both pregnancies before this scan I never slept a wink with worry, I think its because this is the real one, where its all official! Had a scan at 9 weeks I'm 12+3 according to dates!

WantToGoingTo · 08/01/2015 13:34

Also the dreaded constipation has returned :( I am so uncomfortable! I haven't been since Sunday. Argh.

Romeolovesjuliet · 08/01/2015 14:40

broody I haven't had any scans yet either - I'm 12+1. Mine is tomorrow morning.
Great news on today's positive scans.
I'm on my way to my booking appt - can't quite believe I am doing this again!
Birth stories - people love to exaggerate and always think they are the authority on everything when you can only ever comment on your own experience. I had 2 very different births but both positive. With DD I got to hospital fully dilated but when I started to push she was in an awkward position so wasn't moving so they took me to theatre and gave me a spinal so they could turn her - she was then out with 2 pushes. BUT I then haemorrhaged badly and the placenta had to be removed manually but to be honest I was none the wiser as I was holding this beautiful baby. It was far more traumatic for DH as he could see what was going on. I was in for 24 hrs but then home and recovery was fine. With DS I started having regular contractions about 1.30pm, got to hospital at 3.45pm and he was born at 6pm. No pain relief (including g&a) and we were home by midnight. It's intense and hard work but not as painful as you would imagine pushing a human out of your body to be - in my opinion anyway!

MisterSafetyCatchIsNotOn · 08/01/2015 15:13

Good to know about the PCOS risks as I have it too, well I don't have a proper diagnosis but my GP said it's the likely cause of my wildly irregular periods and the sonographer at my private scan found lots of cysts on my left ovary. When would they actually do proper diagnostic tests for it? That was never offered to me, the GP just said I probably have it and gave me a leaflet with no follow up Confused so I have no idea about possible implications in pregnancy etc! Is there anything other than GD I should be worried about? What's the risk with prolactin?

Interesting about the change in your cycle / hormones Number3. I definitely notice that my cycle is much more regular when my stress levels are lower.

misseskimo are you at least getting statutory sick pay?

Number3cometome · 08/01/2015 15:44

High levels of prolactin can cause lack of fertility, also can be the sign of a non-malignant tumour (very common)

JoY007 · 08/01/2015 16:05

Yoga instructor today was rather annoying today, he refused to show me the moves I should not be doing, claimed it was a busy class, not at all. Yet he focused all his attention assisting the snake girl -( she can contort herself in ways you never imagined possible!). Annoying tosser!Angry. How long would it have taken him to say oh don't do this pose?! For the first time I actually felt unfairly treated like pregnant women are some rare specie.Sad

Definitely not going to his class in future!

Number3cometome · 08/01/2015 16:17

Joy

What a wanker.

Can you complain?

LaLa5 · 08/01/2015 16:20

My scan is tomorrow, I'll be 13 weeks!

Number3cometome · 08/01/2015 16:29

Good luck Lala!
