want good luck with telling your boss. TBH from mine and friends experience is that it makes it easier once they know about the pregnancy as allowances can then be made. I told my work at 8 weeks last time due to circumstances and just asked them to keep it to themselves until I was ready to announce properly. Hopefully she will do the same.

Littledragon13 · 07/01/2015 11:03

want NCT don't offer postnatal classes in my area which is a bit of a bummer so I'm going to speak to my widwife to see what she recommends x

Littledragon13 · 07/01/2015 11:06

bustherb I'm hopefully going back part time, I work long hours and with the cost of childcare it just wouldn't work with me working full time.

Hope you're feeling better soon Flowers

Naturegirl82 · 07/01/2015 11:07

For those wondering about pregnancy sickness this is a document I found useful last time.

www.maternityaction.org.uk/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderfiles/sicknessduringpregnancymaternityleave.pdf

If you take sick leave from 36 weeks it will trigger your maternity leave regardless of any arrangements you have made. You also need to be careful about taking sick leave around your qualifying week (15th week before due date) as if you are not entitled to full pay then this will reduce the amount of maternity/SMP you are entitled to.

WantToGoingTo · 07/01/2015 11:22

nature I hope she will be nicer to me, but have a feeling it will only Last a week until she forgets! Or until I am massive! Have new line manager starting in feb though, she is coming in tomorrow to have intro mtgs so will tell her then. I hope we get on well as my interim line manager was awful!

misseskimo · 07/01/2015 11:29

I think I can apply for SSP. but thats not even enough to cover our bills let alone anything else! I'm going to speak to my boss tomorrow see if there's anything he can do. fingers crossed he can work something out for me as I don't think it's right they didn't warn me.

I'm still waiting on a call back from the antenatal person. I've left two messages now and no response. They told me at the hospital to book asap as they fill up really quickly!

SparklyPenguin · 07/01/2015 11:38

Scan went well! Happy wriggly little person in there, NT measuring 1.7, nice heartbeat. So relieved! Then I braved the dreaded blood tests that'd been delayed from last week- they found my veins this time so all done. All in all a good day. Smile

Naturegirl82 · 07/01/2015 11:41

Congrats sparkly glad the blood taking went better this time.

Miss what are you trying to book?

misseskimo · 07/01/2015 11:49

over I think I may have to try a band. Hopefully it will help. Did you find it was still irritated after you switched to the band or did it help alot? I've read some horror stories of people's bars getting badly infected whilst pg and having to let it close up. I have quite a bad scar which is mostly hidden by my bar so don't really want to take it out completely if I can help it Not until I get to an age where I look at it and think why the heck did I do that to myself

Trying to book antenatal classes. Apparently in my area you leave a message for this part time lady who then searches around for suitable classes and comes back to you. Trouble is I can never get hold of her, and just keep leaving messages and nothing Hmm

WantToGoingTo · 07/01/2015 11:53

miss could you not look on nct website? They show classes in your location according to due date. You then fill out an enquiry form and thy will send you a link in an email to book if you want to, along with more info on the classes. That's what I did :) my hospital also does them but as I live 30 miles away I wasn't going to bother with those as would be less likely to see the people in the class and thought would be overkill as well as nct!

naty1 · 07/01/2015 11:55

Scan went really well. Baby behaved and they got the blood test too.
Only downside was the nt part. Baby measured 78mm so 13+6 (4 days larger than the 13+2 that i am - ivf). So that was very close. And it would have been 14+5 they day they offered me originally.
Funnily they said in the blood test. We use the dating measurement scan for the date on the nt part even with ivf but its usually only -/+ 1 day.
Looks like it may be a larger baby. But dc1 was +3 days at this stage and only 60 percentile

Naturegirl82 · 07/01/2015 12:00

Those of you on dc#2 or more are you bothering with antenatal classes this time? DD1 is only 11 months old so it really wasn't all that long ago for me and I didn't make friends through antenatal classes just the baby classes I went to afterwards.

Also is anyone else's belly buttons all ready pushing out? It didn't happen until quite late on last time but is all ready half out now! I'm assuming because everything has been prestretched!

Good news on the scan naty

miss that seems a strange system. We couldn't book until after we had reached 24 weeks at my hospital.

Thepurplegiraffe · 07/01/2015 12:01

Just got my test results back from my scan last week. It has come out at 1 in 1,000. I know they say this is low but I had 1 in 4,000 last time and my sister had 1 in 11,000. Not sure if I should be happy or not.

WantToGoingTo · 07/01/2015 12:07

I think you should be happy purple that is a good result! That is only a 1% chance. I would be more concerned if it was 1 in 200 say :)

naty good news about the scan!

My scan is in 33hrs. Planning how to tell my work colleagues if all goes well!

Bustherb · 07/01/2015 12:09

Purple is that from the nhs or the harmony? I think it's a good result, I'm hoping I will get something like that Smile xxx

SophieBarringtonWard · 07/01/2015 12:09

Surely it's a 0.1% chance? It's really good results purple, I wouldn't worry.

Bustherb · 07/01/2015 12:10

Out of interest how long did it take for people to get their results back from the nhs screening?xx

SophieBarringtonWard · 07/01/2015 12:11

Forgot to ask, is anyone claiming Maternity Allowance or know anything about it? I left a full time job at the end of July, and didn't start my new job until October, when I was just pregnant. I don't think I will qualify for SMP.

SophieBarringtonWard · 07/01/2015 12:12

Bustherb with DC1 and DC2 I got the results immediately as they had labs at the hospital (King's College Hospital), but this time my bloods were sent off on the 29th & I got my results yesterday, so 8 days.

Thepurplegiraffe · 07/01/2015 12:12

That was the nhs. I know in theory it is good but it is a lot worse than anything I have seen or heard of before. I think I am just a born worrier, not helped by the fact that my uncle has it, though I know that's not a risk factor. Thanks all, will try to pull my head in and stop worrying.

WantToGoingTo · 07/01/2015 12:17

sophie clearly can't multiply correctly!

SophieBarringtonWard · 07/01/2015 12:23

My friend's result was 1:117. That's the lowest result I have heard personally. Her little boy doesn't have DS.

Number3cometome · 07/01/2015 12:31

sparkly Lovely picture!

Naty1 Brilliant news about the scan, bet you are very relieved

Thepurplegiraffe Mine was 1-over 10000 with my first DC (I was 21) with second DD when I was 26 it was 1-2000

I dread to think what it will be this time, but 1-1000 is still good so don't worry Smile

Naturegirl82 I'm on DC3 but didn't bother with DC2. Was an ELCS, same again this time.

I know some people find it useful if they have an age gap in kids.

Mine is an 8 year gap but I think I will have enough time spent between the consultant and GP so can't face appointments with anyone else!

Pipbin · 07/01/2015 12:32

Sophie, did your friend have an amino?

Pipbin · 07/01/2015 12:33

Does anyone know if you get an NT result that you are not happy with, can you still have the harmony?
