Just got NT results and I'm low risk Smile

What a great flood of good news Grin Grin Grin

Fleurchamp · 06/01/2015 19:20

purple I think they reason they are making a bit of a fuss is the location of the fibroid and the difficulty getting decent pictures of the baby.

FMC did loads better last time getting the measurements, it may just be luck and position of the baby.

I have a sore stomach from all the prodding Sad I am surprised at how hard they press!!

GingerbreadHead · 06/01/2015 19:37

Hi everyone, not been around since thread 1 as my anxiety levels have been through the roof and I've been trying not to get my hopes up too much.
I will be 12 weeks tomorrow though, so hopefully it's all going to be ok from here! Got my scan on Thursday, can't wait to make sure everything is ok in there! Been feeling absolutely awful, so tired and ill so hopefully that is a reassuring sign.
Anyone over 12 weeks starting to feel a bit better yet? I think I was about 16 weeks with DD when I stopped feeling sick all the time, another 4 weeks seems like a lifetime to have to get through of feeling this rough!
Lovely to hear all the good news about scans, and twins wow! Amazing! Have to admit I'm secretly, crazily hoping two will show up on my scan on Thursday!!
Been on a bit of a shopping spree recently to find the 'perfect' pair of mat jeans, feel like my regular ones are way too uncomfortable already, but struggling to find some I actually like, the hunt continues!

Hi gingerSmile welcome back. All sounds encouraging with your symptoms - I'm taking continued nausea and sickness as a blessing too! My mat jeans are from new look, I find them so comfy. Over the bump ones, not under as I found that style was too low on my wobbly hips and just dug in where I really didn't want it to!

naty1 · 06/01/2015 19:53

Bit of stress. Dr called re my thyroid levels. Before xmas receptionist had spoken to a dr who said my 0.25 was ok. But this 1 said its a bit low (though better low than high) and to decrease my dose slightly.
Ive had these results since mid december.
Well i shall see if its made a difference at scan tomorrow. (Really hoping theyve got it as an NT scan this time unlike with DC1)

Jenbird5891 · 06/01/2015 19:54

Luckythirteen - i'm quite relieved there is someone else with twins on here!! It is a bit of a shock when you've not been expecting it but I;m sure I will cope when it sinks in..... She didn't really say, but they have separate placentas so likely non-identical (I have googled and 1/3 of identical twins have separate placentas and all non-identical). to be honest after the shock of being told twins I found it hard to listen to the rest... apart from they are a good size and good heartbeats etc. what is ur due date and have they given you any extra info? I think I will ring MW tomorrow just to make sure but have been booked for double slot at 20 week scan followed by consultant apt straight after. it is a bit daunting but I know they will do more checks which is in a way re-assuring. What a day!

247babyonthebrain · 06/01/2015 20:01

Hi all haven't been on in a while. Congrats on the twins Jen! Great scan pictures those who had scans today! Anyone got one tomorrow? Mine is at 10am - excited and nervous!

luckythirteen · 06/01/2015 20:03

GingerbreadHead If you like skinny jeans, I can recommend the Topshop Leigh maternity jeans, they are super comfy!

Jenbird5891 My due date is 3/7 so we are pretty close! In terms of extra info nothing really yet - we are having another scan next week and will see the consultant on 20th so it will be good to meet her and talk in more detail. Good to know yours are both measuring well. Yes good idea to double check your slot, or even triple check since I checked for my 12 week scan and they then told me it was a single when I arrived...grr. Off topic but are the numbers in your name anything to do with your birthday? I'm wondering if we have another thing in common!

LovelyWeatherForDucks · 06/01/2015 20:19

Hi all - not been around much with Christmas craziness but have my evenings back now (back at work and DH is never back at a sensible hour!) so will be joining in a bit more.

12 + 1 (I think) and scan on Friday - eeeeeeekkk! Scared and excited, desperate to know all is OK. Having had one straightforward pregnancy, it's hard not to assume all will be smooth sailing again but don't want to get my hopes up.

I've got a really achy pelvis this time round (didn't have this last time, but i did quite a lot of exercise last time, no time for it any more!) and considering getting a back/bump support. Worried it's going to get worse, but fingers crossed it settles down once my body gets used to it!

Can't help thinking ahead to what we might need - a new buggy thats suitable for baby + toddler buggy board (or baby on it's own when DS at nursery), co sleeper crib / sleepy head (anything to avoid 8 months of 45-minute wake ups that we had with DS!), a new sling (just cause I'd like one!)...all the tiny nappies and vests!

Also unsure about finding out sex - we did last time, and this time I'd like to experience the 'its a boy/girl!' moment - but practically finding out would be better, and I'm so impatient!

Oops mammoth post...

SophieBarringtonWard · 06/01/2015 20:30

Hello all -

glad to hear all the good news re scans & screening results. Jen wow twins! I am a bit jealous, I think I have no chance of getting DC4 without twins but it's definitely just one in there…

I am still waiting for my screening results, I am not particularly worried about it but we won't tell DH's parents until we have had them (just because if anything was up they would find it distressing/hard to cope with) & I am struggling to keep it a secret much longer! I have a visible bump.

Discussed whether to find out the sex - I want to wait & DH wants to find out. Not sure what we will do. Ho hum.

14 w + 4 now I think!

WantToGoingTo · 06/01/2015 20:51

Is anyone else ridiculously bloated all the time? It is worse after eating. But I get so bloated my tummy goes rock hard and makes me look way more pregnant than I am. My Mum showed me her belly pics from when she was pregnant with me - we are similar build and I kid you not that I look now the same as she did at 19 weeks Hmm and I have lost 6lbs!! And definitely only one baby in there...

I know it's early to start thinking about maternity leave, but telling my boss today has prompted the thought.

I've been reading my company's policy today. It looks like I have to take all my annual leave (plus bank holidays) for the year before I leave which means I will be stopping work 6 weeks before my due date. Not ideal as I'd rather have the time afterwards, but with an hour plus commute each way it may ending up as a good thing! I was hoping I'd be able to be paid for some of the holiday instead of taking the days, but sadly not.

Is this normal or do some places let you carry over the days? When is everyone else planning on stopping work?

Starting to think about this is completely freaking me out by the way! It means I'll be stopping work in 5 months. That seems very soon!!!!

SophieBarringtonWard · 06/01/2015 21:26

Did you post about this somewhere else on MN this evening ceejay? I've just read another post about annual leave/mat leave. Maybe in pregnancy or employment issues?

I do sessional term only work, & there probably won't be much during the summer term anyway - not sure when I will finish… However my job is possibly being cut so not sure I can go back?!

Just got my screening result back (late text from my midwife!), risk is 1:4,600 so can carry on with telling parents in law!

Thepurplegiraffe · 06/01/2015 21:31

Ceejay, I'm not sure what is normal but at my work last time I could do what I wanted. I think I had some as holiday before, some money and some (the following years holiday) at the end of mat leave. It doesn't sound right to me that you have to take it all before. I have never heard of that before.

Great news on the result Sophie.

Ceejay14 · 06/01/2015 21:38

Sophie yes also posted what policy said in a shorter thread on maternity leave then realised I was best off asking you guys ??

smallgreenbanana · 07/01/2015 04:12

want Yes! It was awful last week. DH was shocked at size of 'bump'! It seems to have deflated somewhat the last few days thank goodness -- eating small meals has helped (deliberately leaving some even if I could have eaten it) and also trying Fybogel to help with 'waste removal'. But otherwise the advice seems to be avoid beans and swallowing air and it's all perfectly normal! Confused

Anyone else have any tips??

Insomnia again... if only brains had a snooze function.

smallgreenbanana · 07/01/2015 05:40

Really thrilled by all the happy scan news. Mine is tomorrow!! Grin

WantToGoingTo · 07/01/2015 06:18

ceejay I can carry up to 5 days but rest have to be taken before I go. Re bank holidays the ones I will accumulate while off work I have to take at end of maternity leave. For me this means stopping work at 34 weeks. I am going to use my bank holidays for a phases return so that I work 3 days a week for the first 3 weeks back before returning full time. I am not allowed to take any leave as payment. I also have an hour commute each way so no bad thing stopping early as I am sure I will be huge and find the drive v uncomfortable!

Naturegirl82 · 07/01/2015 06:30

I had planned to work until 36 weeks last time and then use 2 weeks annual leave, but found it such a struggle I finished at 34 weeks instead. I'll probably do the same this time. I'm not sure on our policy as I went off just before the start of our holiday year last time so used up the last of my accrued leave and then used some of the next year's leave at the end of mat leave. Don't know how it will work this time.

Naturegirl82 · 07/01/2015 06:32

lovely have a look at the cacoonababy. We found it sorted out the 45 mins wake ups and will definitely be using it again this time. Another useful tip for helping better night time sleep is white noise. We just downloaded an app and used that and it was brill.

Jenbird5891 · 07/01/2015 07:48

Luckythirteen -yes you are right got the big 30 coming up next month! Where are u living? I'm down on south coast. Need to add myself to stats page if I can work out how?! Good luck scanners for today or this week. Who knows maybe there's another set of twins out there ;)

luckythirteen · 07/01/2015 08:36

Jen Oh I thought maybe your birthday was 5/8! I'm from Herts. If you go back to the first page of this thread, I think there is a link to the stats page there, you can just click on and add yourself.

broodylicious · 07/01/2015 08:42

lovely, Aah, yes, 45min wake ups...don't think I'll ever forget the same eight months either. What was that all about?! She's still a rubbish sleeper now though at 2y 9m, wakes 3-5 times a night! Some kids just don't sleepConfused

I'm 11+6 today. Feeling v upset and teary as this was when I started to miscarry our last baby. Going to be a tough day... Sad

WantToGoingTo · 07/01/2015 08:53

broody Thanks hoping this one is a sticky one for you, thinking of you
