Fleur You shouldn't have a problem in requesting your change of hours though? Could you not submit a request to return fulltime with a view to reducing to three days a week within 3-6 months of your return?

I requested flexible working middle of last year to facilitate being able to collect DC from their afterschool club, so I currently work until 4pm, and then log-in from home again between 6.30 and 8pm. Anyone can request flexible working hours now, but as always, it has to be beneficial to the business etc. I am lucky that the two partners I work for are based primarily in the US, so it is beneficial to them to have me working online later during the day. But I have already discussed my need with them to possibly work from home two days a week for probably the first year, and they are fully supportive, and are looking to change the dynamics of my role to help in my request.

I really need to buy some looser clothing, but I have found nothing that (a) I can afford that (b) I even remotely like!! I have just spent £100 on some jersey swing dressed, which look fab with either thick black tights or leggings, that will have to do me for work right now.

misseskimo · 05/01/2015 15:16

Number I was the same. Today so far:

Bowl of shreddies and smoothie for breakfast
Massive fruit salad (homemade)
Cereal bar
Yoghurt
6" Subway veggie patty loaded with salad

And that was all by 12:30pm! I'm still feeling nauseous and peckish now!

I have maternity leggings and a loose tunic on today. But it still feels uncomfortably tight around the waist... My leggings band sits just above my belly bar which is rubbing, and now really sore Sad anyone else got a belly bar and having problems? Mine feels so tight atm like I've put a bar too big in it even though its the original bar from when I had it done 13yrs ago! Hmm

BadIdeaBear · 05/01/2015 15:17

Yeah, fleur I was also going to say I don't see why you couldn't return FT and then request flexible working to go PT a few months later. Sounds like a good solution.

Back in our cold office today too - heating battling to cope with no-one having been in for two weeks, but it was actually good to get back and do an inbox blitz and stop being so totally pregnancy focused for a change. I'm back home now to finish off/prep lectures/ mark papers in the warmth!

Big exciting news for me today in advance of my NHS scan tomorrow - got my NIFTY results back - I'm low risk for everything - exact figures following in the post but that's such a relief! Every little milestone...

Jersey dresses are my friends - to be fair, they always are, so I'm just hoping I don't need major expenditure on mat clothes, beyond the one JJMB gorgeous dress I've bought, the mat leggings and tights I got from H&M, and the mat clothes bundle I got from eBay (£30 for random bundle of 10 items - mainly seem OK and some items really lovely, although the pink trousers are unlikely to get a wear... wtf?!), as well as the collection that my DSis is apparently bringing on Sunday when she visits. Hoping that should do... I'm probably wrong.

Overtiredbackagain · 05/01/2015 15:18

Miss I used to have one, but I took it out when I fell pregnant with DS who is now 9! You can buy special surgical bands to put through, which will keep your piercing open but be much more comfortable whilst you "expand" Grin Might be worth thinking about?

misseskimo · 05/01/2015 15:21

Also found out from HR I get 6wks paid, then upto 39wks SMP, then upto 52wks unpaid. Wonderful lol.
She did say though that I would accrue my full 4wks which I could take before/after maternity leave, or another option is to use it to come back earlier part time, so either 6m at 4days or 3m at 3days a week which is tempting.

14+1 and bloated!

naty1 · 05/01/2015 15:22

Ive had
Bran flakes and milk
Apple
Satsuma
3/4 lasagna sweetcorn
Crisps
Orange juice

Overtiredbackagain · 05/01/2015 15:25

BadIdea that's fantastic news, can I ask what Nifty is? I had my dating scan on Friday, but fell one day outside Downs screening at 14 weeks, so I am waiting for results for the "quad" test on my blood? I really should have paid more attention but was so shocked to be nearly a week further on, although I wasn't surprised as I had mentioned to MW my cycle was not 28 days, but she played it down.

That bundle on eBay I have been looking at too, I was thinking of buying it too, until you mentioned the pink trousers?? Although they may be OK for the summer?

WantToGoingTo · 05/01/2015 15:31

Seeing as we are talking about food Grin I have had:

Special K
Satsuma
Grapes
3 dried dates
Half a kiwi
2 hotel chocolat chocolates
4 mini ritz crackers
3 oatcakes
And some cheese

Not too bad... I am getting hungry though. Food aversion gone and hunger returned? I was mega hungry from 4-6w then really didn't want to eat from 6w til today!

WantToGoingTo · 05/01/2015 15:42

Make that 3 chocolates... Blush

BadIdeaBear · 05/01/2015 15:47

overtired yes, the NIFTY sounds like it could work for you well. There's another similar test called Harmony provided at some screening places.

Info here: www.niftytest.com/expecting-parents/intro-to-nifty/. I think you can get tested anytime after 10 weeks so could be ideal for people who miss the 14+1 deadline. It is NOT cheap but it is also 99.5% accurate for the three main trisomies (although it can and does test for other genetic things too, and can do gender check with a 98% accuracy if you're interested in that, and you can just do the blood test rather than the scan as well, given you've had a recent scan. I went to a private screening centre in Leeds for mine.

And as far as the bundle is concerned, I still think it was good value. It's £30 with £9 P&P tho, so really £40, but I figured a £5 each for two pairs mat jeans, a skirt, a pair of nice pale green wide leg trousers, three or so really nice tops, a long swishy cotton jacket/ cardi and a couple of others things. I'll forgive the pink trousers, although I just can't imagine a circumstance when I'd wear that particular shade! It's like candy floss...

BadIdeaBear · 05/01/2015 15:50

want your food intake seems pretty good. I'm getting well hungry again but I guess it's heading towards dinner time now. Since we're all getting in on this, I've had:

cornflakes and semi skimmed milk
philaphelphia light sandwiches
7 cherry tomatoes (I'm specific cos apparently 7 is a portion of fruit/ veg!)
clementine
packet salt and vinegar squares
activia yoghurt

Oh, I've been so good - it's gonna get wrecked about now I think, cos I've just remembered we've got chocolate log to finish off...!

twinky12 · 05/01/2015 15:52

Number3cometome · 05/01/2015 15:58

misseskimo Subway is my fave at the moment!!
I took my belly bar (I had two, one top one bottom) out about 4 months ago, I had a spinal fusion and the scar runs through it, it was looking stretched and tired so I got rid. My previous pregnancies, it did survive but I took it out about 6 months in and just used to make sure the hole was open once a week.

Cheesy chips, who said cheesy chips! I wish there was a love heart emoji on mumsnet!!

Ok went gym, that was rough, celebrating with an avocado and chicken sandwich. High calorie, but good for baby surely?!

misseskimo · 05/01/2015 15:58

Thanks over I'll definitely have a look into those! I don't really want to take it out as due to an infection I had when first pierced I have a horrid scar right in between the two balls which is mostly un-noticeable with the bar in but without, will look awful, hence why I've never taken it out before! Is that an Amazon type purchase, or somewhere more specific? I can only wear certain metals as react to others, so would rather pay for a proper one from a reputable company than risk getting a Chinese knockoff from. EBay etc. And get another infection Sad

misseskimo · 05/01/2015 16:01

Cross post number Smile
I would have subway every day if I could. But so expensive when you can make a sandwich at home for like £1 Sad not the same though lol.
I was hoping I could keep it in most of pg but going by today I'm guessing that's gonna be a no Sad

Number3cometome · 05/01/2015 16:02

It'll go back in after, don't worry Smile

Overtiredbackagain · 05/01/2015 16:38

Miss I bought my band in Boots, i'm sure they still sell them. It worked well but I decided not to put my bar back in, I had horrible flabby tummy and bad stretch marks for over a year, couldn't bear to show them off!

broodylicious · 05/01/2015 17:13

Iow is expensive want, especially in June/July/august but it is so beautiful there. We stayed in a cottage in shanklin September just gone for a week and it was amazing - v geared up for families so although I'd happily recommend it to you, it'll be more appropriate next yearWink We intend to go in September again.

Fleurchamp · 05/01/2015 17:28

I am home and in my leggings - the bliss!

I may have also eaten some custard cream biscuits, damn you beige food

Thanks ladies for the comments re part time working. I guess I will just have to discuss with work to see if we can come to a compromise.

WantToGoingTo · 05/01/2015 17:28

broody never dear I have found a studio chalet right on the beach which is v cute, just like a Niger beach hut, and cheap! Been to IOW a lot as a kid as grandparents live there, but haven't been since they died and not for longer than an afternoon in years. I love the botanical gardens and is Osborne house Grin and it has eachea and tea shops! DH has never been so thought it could be a nearby good option and then perhaps next year either go there again but to a different place, or then go to cornwall with the lo :) think like you we will go in September. We had our honeymoon in September and it was fab going on hols when every one else was working, out of season, still warmish and then when you come back it's not so long til Xmas!

WantToGoingTo · 05/01/2015 17:29

P.s can now add Alice of birthday cake and the pistachios are calling me... I really do have the hungers today! Makes a change from not wanting to eat anything!

Bustherb · 05/01/2015 17:43

Sorry girls I need a full blown rant.

Went for my 3rd 12 week scan today, 1st one the baby was too small for the NT testing, 2nd there wasn't s trained sonographer to do the NT scan so we were booked today at 13 & 6. I got there and the sonographer has now measured me at 14 & 1 meaning were now out of the dates for the NT testing. They still went ahead and took my blood knowing full well they couldn't do anything with it, they told me after I was out and that they will have to disguard my blood. I'm livid about the whole situation, feel really messed about and that the decision has been taken out of our hands. I know we can get bloods done at 16 weeks to check for Down's etc but that's another 2 weeks away plus another 2 weeks waiting. To say I'm upset and angry is an understatement. Sad Xx

Bustherb · 05/01/2015 17:48

Plus I then find about the had more appointments the day before my second scan and had the trained sonographer there and even though it says throughout my notes I want the Down's testing they still booked me in on a day where they couldn't do it. Xxx

Fleurchamp · 05/01/2015 17:48

How annoying bustherb how long between the 3 scans? I can't see how the baby goes from being too small at the first and too big at the 3rd? Surely they should have factored this in when booking your appointment?

I have my 12 week scan tomorrow. Do they take blood then?

Zampa · 05/01/2015 17:49

I'd be screaming blue murder bustherb. Will a complaint get you anywhere?
