Congrats miss! Award winning Eskimo hey?!Wink Your poor colleague though. Horrid. Are you close workmates? Are you a gossipy office where there'll be lots of excitement and chit chat? I was so glad that I didn't have to cope with that when I mc (I work for myself) because I wouldn't have been able to have coped with it all.

little, I've heard amazing things about coconut oil for everything dry skin and hair. I've not tried it myself yet but as it's a natural thing, I do hope to.

fleur, cheese obsession is often tied to having a boy! I love old wives talesGrin

want, that's why we went in September too! It was beautiful weather. There's a great wildlife encounter place that our toddler adored - it wasn't there last time I went in, think 2000ish. It's just such a lovely island, always will be one of my fave holiday places in the UK although Bali, Thailand and Hong Kong have actual pieces of my heart

itsnotthatdeep · 05/01/2015 17:54

I got a job! And new trainers

I'm a happy lady right now

Oh and I came to the news that we are very low risk for downs

So great day GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

Bustherb · 05/01/2015 17:57

We had first on the 18th dec where I was measuring 11 & 2, second on the 30th where they couldn't tell me the measurements and a scan today which im measuring 14 & 1. I am going to make a complaint about it. To be fair the lady taking my blood was really annoyed for me and called the other hospital to let one of the seniors know what's gone on. I don't know whether to just leave it or pay for a harmony test. My OH said he will go with whatever I decide but he needs to make that decision too, he said he would still like to know. Xx

Fleurchamp · 05/01/2015 18:23

I would be furious bust if Harmony would be more reassuring for you I would say go for it, but it's not cheap.

Bustherb · 05/01/2015 18:30

I am fleur, although I'm starting to feel upset about it all, does anyone know what the difference is between harmony and the nhs? I've read a lot of posts that people have had high readings from nhs and then gone to have the harmony. I've had a look and it say £500 Shock xx

broodylicious · 05/01/2015 18:42

Congrats deep!!!ThanksWine

BadIdeaBear · 05/01/2015 18:47

I'd be absolutely livid, bustherb gutted for you - hope your complaint gets heard and acted upon in some way and that you work out what to do for best.

Yea miss good day - well done on your award!

And well done on your job deep and pleased, like me, you've found out re risk today.

Number3cometome · 05/01/2015 19:01

Fleur yes - did your midwife give you a form?

Busterb that is terrible, I would be so upset, I really hope they book you in soon and sort this mess out. You should complain to the supervisors of midwives about this and all the stress xx

Number3cometome · 05/01/2015 19:02

Congrats Deep

Zampa · 05/01/2015 19:07

Bustherb The NHS blood samples are tested for raised levels of proteins etc and when combined with your NT scan and other stats, your risk level is produced.

The Harmony test looks at the actual DNA of the foetus, which is carried in your blood.

If you just have the Harmony blood test, rather than bloods and scan, the price can be lower (£350, maybe).

Jenbird5891 · 05/01/2015 19:13

Good luck for tomorrow for the others who are having scans tomorrow too- mine's at 10 so not long to wait now. Feeling terrified and excited! Just want to know all is ok. Feels surreal at the moment so don't think it will sink in until after tomorrow! I told my work quite early on so that I didn't have to stress about it and there's only 5 of us so not easy keeping secrets... Think my boss will want to know how much time I want off etc. Soon so he can plan but I haven't been able to think about stuff like that yet just can't gets h head round it. We get 52 weeks with 10 weeks full pay, 10 50% pay and then 19 weeks smp.luckily money shouldn't be too much of a problem as we live in MOD housing a DH is armed forces and it's pretty cheap! Have some savings too so I'm not planning to rush back!

Fleurchamp · 05/01/2015 19:19

number nope, no form. But that is not surprising as it has all been rubbish with my NHS trust so far.

I have gone with harmony anyway and so I may just forget the NHS tests.

itsnotthatdeep · 05/01/2015 19:21

Thanks ladies,

I've been sucked in to the local pushchair buggy swap sell pages on FB I now want to buy a bugaboo because I know I can get one hardly used for 300 quidBlush buggy swaps had just came in when I had dd but now it's a full blown madness.

But I got a Moses basket today for 10 quid in immaculate condition so it's not all madness.

I know I said I wasn't bothered re all the Downs screening but I must say I feel so much better knowing we are low risk.

Now for the next few weeks of wrestling about finding out the sex.

At leas with the job it means I get extra maternity allowance top up too which makes life less of a worry.

Hope everyone else is well x

StoneBaby · 05/01/2015 19:58

My scan is at 8.40am tomorrow. So stressed about it. And I'll go by myself as DH is doing the school run.

I'm the opposite I barely eat at the moment. Today I ate
A piece of toast with PB and philadelphia
Mac and cheese and a sausage
Pasta in beef broth.

I think if deadline is 13+6 the latest date they should offer is 13 so allowing several days for baby measuring out or measuring differences.
Im confused as i think this is now 2 people told over 14w is too late for nt and yet my paperwork says 14+1 is ok.
Bit concerned baby will measure too far ahead on wed scan when im 13+2 - as ive been stuffing myself with a bit too much xmas chocolate.
I think there are 2 issues bustherb the booking when there was no sonographer for nt - absolutely ridiculous. But on that day they should have been honest with you about the chances of baby measuring 13+6 on 13+6 according to previous scan. Im sure there is a 50% chance the baby would be larger, as it is the average measurement of lots of babies.
But i think it was you who said the first measurement was at 11+2 which according to my paperwork would be ok.

Its odd how what happens seems to differ from thr advice on the nhs site too.
I wonder if the consultants at the hospitals arent happy with the accuracy of results when they are taken at the end/start of the range

Bustherb · 05/01/2015 20:25

Nat I've just read the exact same thing on the nhs website. I strongly worded letter will be sent to them about it all, I've literally been crying all night about it, it's the not having the option that has got me going. I read that the 16 week test isn't as accurate as the 12 week one so what's the point in even having it done. I just don't know what to do, half of me is thinking have it done on harmony and be done with it although I read they only tell you how likely/unlikely it is and the other half of me is thinking that I'm 25, healthy and have no health issues within the family so should I just leave it... I just don't know xx

Overtiredbackagain · 05/01/2015 21:10

Hi Bust, I'm in a similar position to you. I had my dating scan on Friday when I should have been 13+2, although I told mw I was concerned as my average cycle is 24 days, but she was unphased. I was dated at 14 weeks, so one day over what my hospital say is cut-off, even though every website I have looked at says 14+1. I was told I would then have a "quad" test on blood, which they took straight after when I had my samples taken.

It has left me feeling scared of getting too attached to my bean right now and I am fully expecting results to come back as high risk as I am 40, so gearing myself up for an amnio Hmm

Pipbin · 05/01/2015 21:14

Over. I have talked to my midwife about this as I'm due to have my scan when I'm 13+3. (I'm IVF so sure of my dates). She said that the the quad test is as good.
I've been talking to a friend who had an amino with a Down's baby and then her NT baby who followed.
I'm 40 in April over and worried too but age is just a small factor.

Overtiredbackagain · 05/01/2015 21:21

Thanks Pip, so you think my results will be similar to that from the Nuchal scan? I just wish mw had listened to my concerns Hmm I know ultimately it can't change the results but it's just added stress?

My head is all over the place, I cried over weekend to OH that I'm scared to get attached.

I can't see how they can change your date Bust? I'm sorry they have put you through this, it's so frustrating Confused

Pipbin · 05/01/2015 21:25

over my midwife said this, and I quote (it was text) Still ok. 13 and 6 is the cut off, so tight but ok. If for any reason the dates are a little off and you're further on, they will still have a good look at baby and do a slightly different set of bloods. We'll still get a screening result.
Will just do a bloods only screening, possibly on the same day. Not quite as precise as the nuchal but very nearly.

She also said that the sonographer will give the nt measurement anyway but that it can't officially be used.

Overtiredbackagain · 05/01/2015 21:34

Thanks Pip, that's slightly more reassuring, but why do different Trusts seem to end different tests?! Frustrating and confusing x

Bustherb · 05/01/2015 21:37

Ah no sorry that your going through this aswell Over. It's exactly what I'm at, at the moment. I think I need to sleep on it. We did get the NF measurement which was 2.0mm, she did say that this was a normal range and that anything over 3.5mm would be considered as a high risk factor along with the other factors. I'm not sure now that I even want the 16 weeks one because of the uncertainty of the probability (high risk when there could be nothing wrong etc) I don't know if I could put myself through having an amnio if I had to.xxx

Overtiredbackagain · 05/01/2015 21:51

That is a good measurement Bust, mine was 1.5mm but like you said, they discount those measurements.

Try and get some sleep hun and see how you feel tomorrow. I, as we all are, are here to talk and listen when you need/want to.

Bustherb · 05/01/2015 21:59

Thanks over and the other ladies that have contributed. I'm off to bed now things always look different the next day don't they xxx night everyone xx

MisterSafetyCatchIsNotOn · 05/01/2015 22:26

Thanks for the support, my boss took it really well and was very supportive and didn't panic at all (think he had guessed already as he didn't seem at all surprised), phew! I'm glad others sharing the news today have had good responses too. Not so great about some of these shitty employers who will withhold bonuses / payrises etc. I'm sure they would be on pretty shaky grounds if anyone chose to challenge it but obviously that's a really tough thing to do.

I only get statutory maternity pay too, not great but I understand why my employer can't offer more. Luckily DH has a decent wage and our outgoings are reasonably low for south east, so we can manage with me taking 6 months and DH another 4-6 of shared parental leave, helps we can cut out childcare and commuting costs with one of us at home which makes a big difference!

Fleur as others have said you can request flexible / part time working at any time not just when you first go back, so it's worth asking about going full time and then reducing.

I am also cheese obsessed today, can't stop eating it!
