kis do they not crush your bump?

kismac · 08/01/2015 08:50

They are brilliant! I was a bit confused when I took them out the pack. I thought they'd put a t shirt in by mistake. They are that big.

kismac · 08/01/2015 08:51

No, they are great. Lots of room in them, so they should last me to the end.

Lauren82000 · 08/01/2015 09:15

I need new underwear. I've been picking up bigger sized pants here and there and now I'm out of them too. I refuse to go up 2 sizes in knickers so I'll have to try and get some maternity knickers. I seem to be a very weird shape at the moment. I go out at the hips, go in just above my thigh (where your knickers sides are) and then out the same size as my hips at my thigh bone. Confused Just makes me look like I have thunder thighs and I really don't.

Think I'm finally out of my bra too. The really nice comfy ones I got from M&S are starting to dig in on the band and it's on the last hook. Should really rummage for my nursing bras and get them out they should fit by now.

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 08/01/2015 09:18

I went to "full brief" underwear having the eldest (due to caesarians) and have since got rid of all other types. Granny knickers, but oh so comfy!

talking of comfort,
I'm currently wearing a pair of palazzo trousers I'd forgotten buying (whooops!) which were 2 sizes too big for me. the elastic isn't stretched so it won't be hurting the bump, they're big enough to go over it, and are just really comfy. better for me than leggings, I think I need to get a couple more pairs!

(these, if anyone was wondering www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00A8EKKL2 )

smogsville · 08/01/2015 10:32

I'm in same underwear (m&s bikini style pants) and I've got my big stash of one size up massive granny pants for when baby comes. I find the bikini ones kept on fitting throughout last preg as they are well under bump.

Can't wait for my bargain JoJo order to arrive. Must have been fate you uploading that link Tiny, I've just found out I have a couple of big work pitches that I'll need to look smart for and the dress/ top with smart jeans will be ideal.

smogsville · 08/01/2015 10:33

Defo need new bras though. Another visit to bravissimo! These ones were bought at about six weeks so will have done 20 wks service. Or I could have a sort out and find old ones from last time but can I be arsed. Probably not.

Cisforcat · 08/01/2015 10:41

Morning all,

Pants- well much to my DH shock I've been wearing full briefs 2-3 sizes bigger purely for comfort. I did last time with my DD too so still have them all.

Just had my 28 week app and I'm measuring 30. My MW didn't seem bothered at all and said she wasn't worried but I am- should I be???

Siarie · 08/01/2015 10:52

Well apparently I haven't grown in that area because my underwear still fits fine. I'm only growing around my bump for now.

I think I'm anaemic, I can feel it coming on after many years of ad hoc iron pills on and off. Luckily I have an endless amount and prescription for iron tablets. I can feel my heart a lot this morning, yawning lots and tired plus cold. Must have a few tablets today!

BananaToast · 08/01/2015 11:04

kismac your tshirt comment made me Grin

I'm still in my normal pants and don't see it changing any time soon. Probably because they're low rise bikinis/thongs they sit well below my bump. Will invest in some granny pants for after birth but definitely don't want to give up my nice knickers long-term!

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 08/01/2015 11:16

Cisforcat
what's your family been like, historically? Do your family (or the father's family) tend to have big babies? Or are you all small babies?

If you all tend to have small babies, I'd probably worry a bit.

Mind you, at my final growth scan for the eldest he was predicted to be 7lb7 by the birth a week later. In actual fact he was much, much smaller (just over 6lb) so they aren't always accurate anyway.

Hi Hiding. Oh right I understand, thank you. Sorry to be nosey!
I suppose at least your prepared for that dip.
I've not even properly worked out what we'll be earning/receiving as yet. I feel like I can't think that far ahead! I suppose I'm living in the moment, which I kind of need to stop! x

RL20 · 08/01/2015 11:36

Oh and to the ladies that are talking about growth, I had my 24 week midwife appointment last week and she said baby boy is measuring 25! She didn't particularly comment on it, she just said it in passing, and I happened to take notice. So I actually double checked in my notes afterwards to see what she had wrote and sure enough she had written 25. So I can't wait for my next midwife app (at 28 weeks) to see if he's still growing a week ahead! X

Cisforcat · 08/01/2015 11:43

My DD was 15 days overdue and was 7lb 15 so not big considering how late she was. my DH was a twin and premature , I was born at 32 weeks (4lb) and all the females in my side have had small premature babies ( how I was the only one to go overdue I'll never know!)

Think that's why I'm worrying a bit as the odds should be on the small side rather than large. I guessing if they haven't referred me for a scan then there isn't too much to panic about. Thank you!

Hidingthefear · 08/01/2015 11:55

I didn't get measured at my last appointment, but she said they will start at my next one which is on the 20th, With my new midwife (this will be the 3rd different one i've seen). I'll be 28+1 by then and i have my Whooping Cough Vaccine booked for the following day at the doctors. Looking forward to antenatal classes starting in Feb : )

no probs RL , I've even been emailing nurseries and childminders today to ask about costs. Just to try and work out whether to come back to work 5 days or 4 and what hours to do. living in the moment is something I wish I could learn to do. i like plans, and lists and organisation and sometimes I just need to let go a bit lol

Lauren82000 · 08/01/2015 12:11

I must be carrying much lower than everyone else with my knickers not fitting and I haven't had any rib pain or indigestion so far either. Most of my movement is in the lower half as well. But I had though that was mostly because of my high anterior placenta. Maybe it's a bit of everything. (Nothing to do with the amount of chocolate I've eaten or the lack of exercise being in this job Blush)

BananaToast · 08/01/2015 12:48

I was also measuring 25 weeks at my 24 week appointment, she didn't even comment on it. Will see if I'm still a week ahead at my next one at the end of the month.

Lauren82000 · 08/01/2015 12:51

I didn't get checked at my 24 week one. Feeling a bit left out. Sad

kismac · 08/01/2015 13:04

I was measuring a week behind, measuring at 24 even though Im 25 weeks. I think they only worry if it's more than 3 weeks either way.

BrixtonBunny · 08/01/2015 13:16

At my 24 week appt I was measuring bang on 24, but must say it doesn't seem like a very exact science as my bump seems to change a little depending on how baby is lying!

27+1

I totally forgot to ask my Mw and I'm not due to see her til 34 weeks now- when are we supposed to have the whopping cough jab?

BrixtonBunny · 08/01/2015 13:27

Cis I think it's any time from 28 weeks. I've booked mine in with the nurse for 28+1.

OP posts:
BrixtonBunny · 08/01/2015 13:28

Just looked at NHS website, says ideally between 28-32 weeks.

smogsville · 08/01/2015 13:38

Why don't they just give us the whooping cough vaccine at the 28 wk appt then? Sigh, another thing to organise.

I appear to have developed an addiction to waitrose own brand choc digestives so I might need bigger knickers before baby comes after all?
