I have h&m under the bump skinny jeans and they are fab I wear them nearly every day so should probably get another pair soon!

Baby wise so far we have bought nappies, water wipes, nappy cream, cotton wool, baby bath, dummies, clothes, blankets, a moses basket and a playgym.

I wrote a list of stuff still to buy and so far have: bottles, steriliser, formula, perfect prep machine, a movement moniter pad for moses basket, travel system, moses basket sheets. I think thats about it :)

another day, another consultant appointment...

thyroid stable so keeping the 150mcg 5 days a week/125mcg 2 days a week dose...

but consultant actually said my GTT from October was so borderline I probably should have started checking bloods sooner... even though my next GTT isn't until the 19th he already gave me the test and some strips and told me to start monitoring from tomorrow as he is convinced I will have GD again (and so am I)

the good news is that since booking appointment at 8w I have put on only 800g! (less than 2lb)

EbwyIsUpTheDuff · 08/01/2015 14:20

people are being so kind... one friend sent me a parcel of her daughter's outgrown stuff (to store for a while, it'll be too big for a year or so), another got a box her grandaugher's baby clothes for me ("rather you have them than take them to a charity shop"), and a third has just told me she'll send me all her kids' outgrown clothes she's just sorted out.

They know I'm skint

RL20 · 08/01/2015 14:21

Lauren at my 24week it was the first time id been measured. A few ladies around the time of the previous midwife appointment had said they'd been measured and heard heartbeat etc but I hadn't. (Has heard heartbeat at 20week scan though) so I think it varies with different areas, so don't worry.
I wish I could hear the heartbeat inbetween the midwife appointments! Although I don't want to invest in an at-home heart monitor as I know I'd become obsessed with it and if I couldn't find the heartbeat I would panic too much! x

Good news Tiny, my GP said my TSH level is high but my T4 is fine so they don't want to increase my dose and instead want to give it a bit more time on my increased dose (which was increased back the end of November). I've got another blood test in four weeks.

I'm a little concerned that I haven't seen a specialist yet, since I'm pretty sure the guidelines state more specific levels for pregnancy rather normal. I don't think GP's actually know this, but it's just worked out crap that my appointment was booked while I was away originally (Mid Dec). Then I rebooked and they could only do the start of January then it got cancelled to the 23rd of Jan.

Which doesn't seem too bad but in pregnancy terms that the difference between being 19 weeks to being 26 weeks. Nothing I can do about it though, I just hope that my doctors send my blood results to the endocrinologist department at the hospital. That does happen right? As of course between now and then I've had several new blood tests.

No you shouldn't be worried Cisforcat!!!! I measured 2 weeks over at least, all the way through my pregnancies with both boys. They were both two weeks late so bigger than average but not as big as predicted. So many things can make you measure over, even down to the length of your body, seeing as no one does a ball measurement before you had a bump. Whooping cough is between 28 and 32 I believe, and here the midwife doesn't do it I had to make a separate appointment with the nurse.

I'm still wearing normal pants but I have quite a high bump so the don't reslly reach it. I just got high leg briefs after my two so there was plent of space for a pad and in black! I also like under bump trousers, didn't have anything over the bump with my other pregnancies.

I already have a stock of wipes, probably should buy some more nappies. Have blankets but no fitted sheets. Hoping to get my cot back, have pushchair and sling. Not got a lot of clothes yet but I have been trying the last few days but can't find much I like in the right size! So far (on scan measurements) this baby is looking smaller than my others but I don't want to buy too much in newborn as its so small. Because he's likely to be in hospital for a while I may not get chance to buy him much in the early days so don't want to not have anything newborn in case he is 7lb ish. Haven't got bottles etc as I'm hoping to bf and will be able to pump in hospital if needed, also didn't buy a steriliser last time just put breast pump through dishwasher. Got a bouncy chair and baby gym too. Need to get a bath but I want one of those bucket type ones, I used my baby bath quite a bit with my two, used to bath them in the living room in front of the fire when very small. Saves your back leaning over the big bath too!

Here they don't start measuring until 28 weeks so maybe the same for those who haven't been measured.

27+3

Hidingthefear · 08/01/2015 14:31

Cisforcat between 28 and 32 weeks I was told at the doctors. ( i also just noticed that you name is C is for Cat and not Cis for Cat like i've been reading it thinking you meant Kiss for Cat haha)

Smogs probably because of some rule about midwives not being able to give vaccinations.
my midwife appointments aren't at a doctors or hospital so have to book separately anyway.

TinyTear · 08/01/2015 14:31

Siarie, may be worth contacting your midwife to check the antenatal department in your hospital.

I see my endocrinologist on thursday mornings in a special antenatal clinic

Hidingthefear · 08/01/2015 14:35

Lucy what's a movement monitor pad for? (obviously monitoring movement, but didn't know they were a thing just wondered what you would buy one for, and if it's something I should google ;) I like gadgets lol)
I've not bothered with a sterliser for now. Going to use cold water and miltons steriliser tablets. figured it would be easier to make a solution up everyday and I can just take stuff out (and put things in) as I need them. Plus it would hopefully take up less room. fingers crossed the breast feeding takes off and I won't have too much to sterilise.
I'm not really sure what else we need but i've made a list of what we've bought and what we might need/want (with some links if anyone is interested)

Have
Pram + Car seat ZoomTrio
Bouncer
BreatPump (which has sterilising tub, bottle, milk storage pots, & breast pads to start with)
ChanginMat (which has a detachable travel mat too)
Furniture Cotbed + Matress (bounty offer) + 2 sheets(asda) + wardrobe + Drawers (which has changing table on top)
2 dummies

still need/want
BabyBath or bathseat
Moses Basket or one of these
a couple of bottles + bottle warmer (for expressing milk and using when out in case breast feeding isn't ideal)

Siarie · 08/01/2015 14:42

How often do you see your endocrinology Tiny?

Siarie · 08/01/2015 14:42

Sorry endocrinologist*

TinyTear · 08/01/2015 15:19

Siarie - it has been every 4 weeks and now (because of the GD as well) they want to see me in 2 weeks...

TinyTear · 08/01/2015 15:19

This is at the Royal Free in Hampstead

TinyTear · 08/01/2015 15:23

People wanting a baby bath... I know some people say they are useless, bla bla but my DD turns 3 in 2 weeks and still uses this one:

www.fisher-price.com/en_us/brands/babygear/products/Ocean-Wonders-Aquarium-Bath-Center

it was a great purchase (got it in toys r us) and the hammock is ideal when they are babies, and now she uses the blue bath and doesn't even want to go on the big bath... (we have it inside the big bath)

The star and turtle are good toys and i use them to put water over her head...

Siarie · 08/01/2015 15:24

That's worrying then! I'll discuss it with my midwife on Monday. So annoying, I've been really let down from the start with my thyroid management in pregnancy so far.

TinyTear · 08/01/2015 15:29

At least you have a midwife appointment on monday... but do talk to them, you should see a specialist, even if it is for them to say "all ok, go back to the midwife"

Question, to buy a baby bath/or support or not? I was totally going to buy a bath then I decided a support would be ok in our big bath.

Then I decided that I didn't really need the support. But when I think of how often you bath a baby maybe we should just buy a baby bath!

TinyTear · 08/01/2015 15:55

See link above for mine! I love it!

catsofa · 08/01/2015 15:57

Nobody else just planning to bath baby in the kitchen sink for a while?

I've been wearing cheap full briefs 2 or 3 sizes bigger than usual for a few weeks now, they are bliss, I can't stand anything pressing on the bottom of the bump such as under the bump clothes when I'm sitting down. They look better now I've found some plain black ones, the first ones I found were lovely floral ones off a market stall Grin.

Don't think DP cares, he just wants to get in them. I've been so horny the whole time I've been pregnant, but I only see DP every few weeks, it's dead frustrating. Really hoping we get to move in together soon, I'm getting quite stressed about how much work it will be to move and how huge I'll be by then and unable to carry anything. Plus the need to sort out all kinds of things that I can't do beforehand - I really want a 3 seater sofa instead of a 2 if we can possibly fit one in the house, but I can't nab the lovely one on freecycle right now because I'd have nowhere to put it.

Does everyone already have their certificate to get free prescriptions? I needed a script a few weeks ago, had to pay and the pharmacist told me to get the form from my GP so I could get a refund. Trekked to the GP to sort it and left it for the midwife to sign and send, now I find they've lost it so I'll have to do another one at my midwife appointment next week. Which then won't get sorted in time for me to claim back what I've already spent as there is a time limit. Anyone who doesn't have it, ask for an exemption for now, just in case you need it! Don't know why they don't do it automatically when you first see a midwife.

cinnamongreyhound · 08/01/2015 16:02

Ds1 hated a bath support so I sold it on and never even tried with ds2. He had his baby bath until he got too long and then when he stopped fitting in it laying down I ran enough water so is came about half way up his ears and he then trashed around in the big bath. Once he could sit reliably I got some bath splats from mothercare so he didn't slip and he was then fine unless ds1 made too big a tidal wave Wink

BrixtonBunny · 08/01/2015 16:03

Has anyone tried using a tummy tub? I've read they are supposed to be nice for young babies...

cinnamongreyhound · 08/01/2015 16:04

I got mine automatically when I saw the midwife catsofa, I didn't send it off until I had my 12wk scan though. Got my card, not that Ive used it so far but I will when I go to the dentist at the end of the month :)

cinnamongreyhound · 08/01/2015 16:06

That's what I meant by a bucket one Brixtonbunny, I babysat a 10wk old and had to bath her before I put her to bed and she loved it, hence why I want one this time, she was happy in their and much less stressful than a slippery baby in a baby bath for first few times :)

cinnamongreyhound · 08/01/2015 16:07
