cinnamon it's DH and his whole family that would shorten it or I'd happily use it! I would be losing a fighting battle trying to avoid Jim/Jimmy so would rather choose a different name than cringe every time I hear them use it. I agree about using their actual names though - I would only use the 'full' name on the birth certificate for names I would actually use. I love James as a name in itself, and would probably use that rather than Jamie most of the time, but like you I would go for Sam rather than Samuel or Charlie rather than Charles.

Hiding my DH also gets called a variety of names, but hardly ever his actual one or a shortened form of it, so I guess you can't predict the nicknames!

bannana www.amazon.co.uk/Lansinoh-HPA-Lanolin-Cream-40ml/dp/B007ZNGUZY/ref=sr_1_1?s=baby&ie=UTF8&qid=1420476487&sr=1-1&keywords=lansinoh amazon have it and it's free delivery on £10 orders which is a bit more manageable.

BananaToast · 05/01/2015 16:59

Thanks Boo, will order now! Grin

daholster · 05/01/2015 17:03

He would be James on his birth certificate but introduced to the world as Jamie. And maybe James if he's naughty!!! Gives him more options as an adult.

Am going to forget Jet, I don't really feel comfy with it and like I said Grandma didn't even like Jetta!

And Mallen is cool but I need to think on it.

Rory Jack
Rory Silvan
Jack Silvan
Jack Rowan
Jack Oakley
Jamie Jack
Jamie Rowan
Jamie Silvan
Evan Jack
Evan Oakley... I'd have. Ashley as a mn but for my cousin (grr!)

Shall kee bouncing these off you as a sounding board til you tell me to stop! Grin

daholster · 05/01/2015 17:05

Hm Evan Oakley looks cool...

daholster · 05/01/2015 17:08

Shock Forgot my Rory Heath and Jamie Heath! How could I?!

Too much to think about... Not very narrowed down is it?! Smile

Another vote for Rory Heath!!

I think we have a girl's name sorted, but I'm still a bit unsure for a boy. We both really like Wilfred (could be Will, Wilf, Fred, Freddie) which I really like and is unusual, and we also like Nathaniel (could be Nat). I don't love either the way that I love our girls name though (keeping it quiet for now as don't want to jinx it... silly I know).

Also - does anyone know what happened to FreedomHuntress? She used to post a lot but I haven't seen her posts for ages. Hope she's ok.

I am so excited!
We have just ordered our pram/travel system.

It was such a big chore to choose them all the options on the market. I feel like a major thing is done!

BananaToast · 05/01/2015 17:28

Ooh Rory Heath is definitely my favourite so far, although Evan Oakley does have a nice sound to it.

smogsville · 05/01/2015 17:33

Ebwy hope you feel better soon.

Am tentatively hoping DH might be on the mend. Earlier I was a bit worried as he looked dreadful but he just came into kitchen, opened laptop to pay off credit card and had a conversation with me which is a definite improvement. He's back on sofa now. Fingers crossed tomorrow might be the last day of real illness then one more day recovery and back to work on Thurs.

daholster · 05/01/2015 17:38

Opinions are much appreciated! It helps to narrow things down!

Evan Oakley
Rory Heath
Jamie Rowan

Current front runners for me. Have dropped Silvan then. That's a shame. It means woods. But dh hates it so maybe it makes things easier anyway (even if he isn't bothered about the mn I am sure he will end up with an opinion!)

Dd didn't nap and has a horrid cough/cold. This evening she looks poorly and we are supposed to be going to see her uncle for tea who has just come back from a cruise after uni so hasn't seen her in months. Doh. I'm thinking nursery will be off the cards tomorrow Sad And sleep off the cards tonight!!!

Not sure where freedom went, hope she is ok.

daholster · 05/01/2015 17:40

Oh, and Evan Jack is still on there too!!! I am a pest!

kismac · 05/01/2015 17:56

Hi everyone,

Hope you all had a lovely holiday break. Sorry, to hear some of you are under the weather. Fingers crossed that things ease soon.

We went shopping at the weekend and have bought some clothes and a play mat, so feeling bit more organised.

Handed my MAT B1 form in today, so I finish on 2 April and will be working 4 day week throughout March to use up annual leave. Yay!

Growth scan tomorrow but feeling ok about it, as those on facebook group can see I've fair ballooned. Ha ha.

Have now entered murderous rage stage of pregnancy, as I went mental at DH this morning. I was convinced he had stolen my umbrella and my brain was shouting at me that I had to kill him. Ha ha. Was all very strange. Calmed down an hour later and text to apologise but it was quite scary. Just didn't feel like me.

kismac · 05/01/2015 17:57

I really like Rory Heath. I also like Rowan too.

daholster · 05/01/2015 18:08

Hm gave dd Calpol at 5.15. At 5.40 I thought she looked rough and felt a bit hot so took her temp and it's 38.4C. Who knows what it was before the calpol! Poor thing Sad

cinnamongreyhound · 05/01/2015 18:26

I like Rory Heath out of those. I know a horrible little Evan which puts me off and worked a really mean French man called Sylvain. Heath is lovely as a first name too but as the optiins are only for second I'll chose that. I love jack too but not a fan of Jamie.

Smog, yes, I think that's the next step! A friend of mine buys reusable cloth panty liners from www.femininewear.co.uk/ for precisely these sorts of occasional moments, so I think I'll be following suit...

Not a bad first day back, but have had a lot of emotional wibbling up and down, partly related to stuff I want to have done before maternity leave starts... suppose now is as good a time as any to begin practicing calm about not being in complete control of that sort of thing!

TheBooMonster · 05/01/2015 19:30

Yay thank you to everyone who's taken a look at the blog, my stats page has gone crazy, I have views in Ireland, who's in Ireland?

kis I've been in the muderous rage stage for a while, and I'm sure DH actually enjoys it O.o I can't think of any other reason why he tries his luck for some JSing every god damned morning >.> Almost told my boss to go shove it yesterday because he'd pissed me off with the companies blatant unawareness of the law in general. again. Took me a good long while to calm down >.

PenguinPoser · 05/01/2015 19:35

banana I was about to suggest amazon for the Lansinoh cream too but glad you've found it already - it's on my amazon baby wish list. Seriously love that site it literally sells everything!

Ebwy hope you feel better soon Flowers

Daholster loving your name ideas! I like Jack Rowan and Jamie Heath or combination of those. Eek we don't really have a clue what this baby is going to be called - need to get thinking!!

Busy day at work - even though I was back last week it didn't seem like a 'proper' week with having the new year bank holiday, baby was kicking all day which was somewhat distracting! Not really sure how I'm going to manage the next 8 weeks before I can think about maternity leave -- must speak to the manager this week to confirm dates!! Not convinced I qualify for statuatory maternity pay so waiting to find out after handing in my MATB1 a few weeks ago (complicated story despite working for NHS for last 5 years almost I only work on 6 month fixed term contracts) so might have to claim maternity allowance and worried I might be pushing it for time! Anyone else in a similar situation and know about claiming maternity allowance?

Hmm DD's toe looks awful. She stubbed it at the end of last week and now it looks all red and infected down the side of her nail. Stuck some magnesium sulphate paste on it despite having to hold her down to get it on and a plaster on the top. (Doesn't even sting) Hope I can reduce the swelling a bit and get her in at the docs. Don't know what could of happened to get it like that. If it was my toe I'd say it's in growing but I'm super careful with her nails as I don't want her to end up having crappy ones like mine! Blush

TheBooMonster · 05/01/2015 19:47

penguin Your place of work should make a decision on whether you qualify for SMP and if you don't give you your MATB1 for and a SMP1 form, then you contact the job centre or print off MA1 forms from the government website and fill those out and send them with the MATB1 and SMP1 forms and I assume some payslips. I'm still waiting on my MATB1 and SMP1 form from work, but will be phoning the job centre in a few weeks to get them to send me the MA1 form as I don't have access to a printer. In theory work should get back to you within 28 days of handing in your MATB1 form, but my work have already made it clear they're going to be difficult sigh
