Lol @ SquattingNeville

I was reading the same thread earlier, amazing how many drunk dads registered their babies with the wrong names! My registrar was very careful with dd and checked all spellings with us. Guess things were a bit different back in the day Grin

BananaToast · 05/01/2015 20:17

Squatting Grin that thread just confirmed that I will be going with DH to register the birth!

Hidingthefear · 05/01/2015 21:01

Someone told me that both parents have to register the name, is this not true?
DH likes Max but I like longer names to shorten so thanks to someone on a previous mums net thread we had we decided on Maxwel after someone's suggestion which backed up my argument that it was a real name (DH thought maximus was a joke name)

Hmm I'm not sure brixton , not sure when we last heard from her Hmm

smogsville · 05/01/2015 21:02

Also if you're not married and want fathers name on the certificate does he have to go too?

DD went through three changes of clothes today at nursery. Teacher unconcerned and said it was normal when a second baby on the way.

Trying to be sanguine about it. Have eaten half a Lindt choc Santa which seems to be helping.

Daholster - hope all your potty purchases get the desired result. Beginning to think that being reliably dry just isn't going to be one of DD's special talents and the sooner I resign myself to this and get on with my life, the better. But the trouble is, she can do it when she wants to!

Sigh!

cinnamon we would but withbour surname it sounds far too much like Heath Ledger which we aren't quite comfortable with (even though for his generation it probably won't mean anything) and also he has a cousin called Heather, sonwasnt sure there either. I like it though.

smogs I'm pretty sure it's too early but we'll give it a go next weekend and happily drop it if it's a disaster.

smogsville · 05/01/2015 21:21

Thanks Squatting! I bet it's all my fault for getting cross at various points. She's 3.3 now so it's coming up for a year since we kicked things off.

daholster · 05/01/2015 21:22

And thanks for the well wishes... I think we will need all the luck we can get with this potty training business!

smogsville · 05/01/2015 21:22

Daholster I sincerely wish you all the luck in the world for the weekend Smile

BananaToast · 05/01/2015 21:28

Ugh I'm now utterly depressed. Think I've found the start of my first stretch mark Sad I had naively assumed that I'd be a lucky one that didn't get any at all and now I'm worried - if one's appearing already what the hell am I going to look like 15, possibly 17, weeks from now?! It wouldn't be so bad if they disappeared afterwards but I know they never fully go. I feel really vain for caring but I had hoped I wouldn't look too awful when it was all over.

cinnamongreyhound · 05/01/2015 21:37

Dh makes comments like that SquattingNevile, but it's very tongue in cheek, he appreciates what I do all day as he gets frustrated with the kids I mind at times when he's home.

Me too Misty414, only had bank holidays off.

It could be in growing Lauren82000, it's not just how you cut your nails that causes them.

Sorry your work are being difficult TheBooMonster Sad

The registrar spelt dh's name wrong on ds2's birth certificate, she gave it to us to check before printing the final copy and he said yep that's fine. Good job I pay attention!

You don't both have to go Hidingthefear but we have as dh was off for two weeks and it's nice to do together.

He has to go with you if he wants to have parental responsibility smogsville. I find regressions in toilet training very frustrating! Ds2 has odd moments when he will just wet himself several days in a row, he's 4 and I get cross with him as he's just being lazy. The childminder in me tells me that I should just let it go but it's so hard when you know they know what they're doing.

Lauren82000 · 05/01/2015 21:39

Don't worry Banana I'm keeping a close eye on my belly button. The skin around it looks thin and stretched to capacity while also looking a bit pink in places some days. I reckon if I'm going to get any this time it's going to be there. The rest of my bump skin looks fine although I do worry I'm going to be bigger than last time as I wasn't that far off size wise when I delivered DD to what I am now! I'd say by next month I'll be the size I was at the end and still have almost another 2 months to go. Confused

daholster · 05/01/2015 21:39

Mine all but disappeared in between banana honest. Mine erupted all over my boobs last time then left side of tummy (not the right!) about 2 weeks before she arrived. After they had settled down post pregnancy you wouldn't really notice them.

But yes, I agree, it's depressing and I'm sorry you weren't the lucky one Flowers

My friend had none til 38 weeks then picked up a load of washing and suddenly felt her belly sort of unzip all the way across, looked down and huge stretch marks had suddenly appeared. She'd done all the oils and everything and was absolutely gutted, poor thing.

Dd is in bed crying. I hate it when she is poorly Sad

cinnamongreyhound · 05/01/2015 21:41

Sad BananaToast, I didn't get any with my two but have loads from getting fat and they do get me down at times despite being very faded so really can't make you feel better. You do get used to them but I can't say you'll ever like them! I have a lot at the top of my arms but I don't let them stop me wearing vest tops, although I don't look in the mirror when I am Wink

TheBooMonster · 05/01/2015 21:45

Bua ha ha I didn't get any stretch marks with DD... I got shrink marks!! All of my awful deep purple markings came in when everything was getting back to normal, and my poor boobs! The trenches have only just evened out and now I'm doing it all again >.

BrixtonBunny · 05/01/2015 21:58

I've already got lots of big fat pinky-purple stretch marks across my belly. Not delighted tbh, as it feels quite early still (though I'm starting to feel quite big) but was expecting it as my skin is quite fragile at the best of times, and my mum's belly is covered in them from her pregnancies and they say that if your mum got them it's a good indication you will too... Hmm

BananaToast · 05/01/2015 22:06

Oh god daholster, unzipping sounds terrifying! Sorry DD is feeling poorly.

My belly button seems fine Lauren, it's on the underside of my bump I think I can see one starting. At least it's a place I can cover up easily, I was just hoping that some day I would look good in a bikini again!

Brixton it was the mum theory that made me assume I'd be ok - mine never got any in three pregnancies.

I wonder whether it's because all my weight gain has occurred in the last two months rather than more slowly. Definitely going to keep an eye on my food intake and try to keep weight gain at the healthy minimum.

smogsville · 05/01/2015 22:20

Thanks for sharing that Cinnamon. My friend's DD apparently did a wee on the sofa on New Year's Day because she didn't want to stop watching a film! Been trained for yonks.

This baby boy is enjoying the choc Santa! Lots of quite boisterous movements now I'm lying down!

Can I also just say to anyone on this thread who hasn't got around to getting the flu vaccine - really don't delay. DD and I are fine because we had it whereas poor DH suffers cruelly.

Going back a bit - takes me a long time to catch up :) mswibble yes we are cloth nappying too, got a few wonderoos and little lambs second hand off eBay so we shall see if it works out :) I got some biodegradable ones to take to hospital/have around at the beginning just in case though as well. This is first baby for us but hopefully it will be ok, husband never changed a nappy in his life, I have but more for disabled young people than tiny babies so we shall see...sure we'll get lots of practice anyway!

Lauren82000 · 05/01/2015 22:52

Haha squatting that's hilarious.

I actually didn't know that about mums and stretch marks. Now I'm really worried about my poor belly button my mums is well wrinkly! Confused

daholster · 05/01/2015 23:08

I just read the saddest thing on another thread. I won't share because it is so upsetting. I wasn't hunting for it in particular - I was trying to find the thread I had been following of a lady who had PPROM and had her baby and all seemed to be going well... Then it disappeared.

It was a troll. But on the thread exposing this lots of people we're talking about their experiences - many women going through it at the same time as the fake OP. One lady had disappeared, I recognised her name. Sadly her dd died which isn't surprising given how early she arrived (23+4) but the ending described was so awful for them and now I'm just crying streams I bed and hoping dh doesn't notice!!!

We must always remember how lucky we are and be kind to everyone else. You don't know what kind of week/year/decade they have had. Sad And here's me picking names like a kid in a sweet shop.

Lucyandpoppy · 06/01/2015 00:19

daholster oh no was that the lady that had pprom at 18ish weeks? That wasnt a troll, surely?! Poor other poster and her DD :(

RL20 · 06/01/2015 03:29

Hi everyone, haven't been on here for a few days. Hope everyone's ok!

Daholster that's shocking- if it was a troll then that's truly sad for other people to be relating to the story, probably confiding in this person if they were going through the same thing, and even consoling them. I agree with you, sometimes we forget to just take a minute and realise how lucky we are! We need to recognise and be nice/nicer to those who aren't so lucky.

I seem to often be awake at this time now, especially when my partner has left for work around this time. I can't seem to get back to sleep, watching rubbish telly instead! Maybe it's my body preparing for the wake up calls?!
X

RL20 · 06/01/2015 03:31

Oh, and I've started doing thing where you sleep with a cushion/pillow between your legs and sort of rest it below/to the side of bump. I'd hears a few people say it's much more comfy, and I suppose it is.
Does anybody else do it? X
