Similarly, we had a version of this:

www.mothercare.com/Mothercare-Spots-Bouncer/631691,default,pd.html

Genuinely cheap and cheerful, but with the natural bounce when baby kicks legs. Perfect for gently rocking with your foot while you eat a hot meal Smile

We've barely bought anything but all we really need is to make our pram into a double. Must take a trip to John Lewis to try out the extension kits for our Vista.

Well need a second cot I assume. Can't imagine DD will be out of hers in time, but this baby will probably be in the Moses basket for the first month anyway so no huge rush.

We got quite a bit via eBay or gumtree last time. Seemed so wasteful to spend £100 on a Moses basket I knew we wouldn't use for long. We got a M&P basket and rocking stand for £10 on eBay. Similar for a bumbo and jumparoo ... And well sell them on when we're finished.

Don't get sucked into spending a fortune! Babies are a marketeer's dream.

anything - I'll be getting the chair on eBay in all likelihood - can't justify the full price this time round when I know it will only be for one baby ha ha!

Do any of you have tips regarding eating? Normally i like my food but since becoming pregnant i havent had much interest in food at all (no morning sickness) and its beginning to get me down. Ive got the midwife on tuesday for my 16wk appt and im worried she will give me a big row Sad

Im still eating but at a reduced rate to what i normally eat. Still drinking and take a bottle of diluting juice to bed each night. My midwife is lovely and put me at ease with her manner

For me i can't face cooking the usual meals i love prepi g - spag bol, casseroles, stew etc so hubby is making them at nite and we are batch freezing so i have healthy meals for the kids and i can heat a portion of what ever i fancy (which mite be different from what the kids have)
Also asked my mum to freeze her left overs for me Shock... But its really helping.

Re baby things... Luckily i dont have much to buy this time round but the essentials we couldnt of lived without in the early days were.,
Bedroom furniture - wardrobe/changing unit/cot
Moses basket/stand
Rocking chair
Play mat
100's of muslins/bibs
Travel system pram
Loads of blankets
Changing bag
Nappies/wipes/cream
Baby bath

With both mine i planned to breastfeed.., ds had other ideas but i used the hospital breastpump to express in hospital and then went out after i got out to buy formula/pump/bottles/steraliser... DD did breastfeed and instead of disposable breastpads i bought very comfy reusable ones from boots.

We will have to chat hospital bags closer to the time.

From friends and family ive got a moses basket plus one for at my mums house, towels for wee one and thats it so far. Have had offers to be given sisters and cousins buggies but thats the one thing i want to buy new and have picked myself

AnythingNotEverything · 22/12/2014 05:07

Impatience you do right. Stuff for babies tends to be well made so lots of life left for more than one family!

Operation keep DDin her own bed has started. Hence in sat shushing her back to sleep at 5am. Wish us luck for the rest of the week Wink

My appetite is back now but I weighed myself for the first time since I got my bfp yesterday, and I've lost 8lb! Crazy as I really have a bump now, so must have lost it elsewhere.

We're just back from a weekend at the in laws and I am still stuffed from all mil's lovely cooking! I also ate a really small piece of brie. It was lovely but I felt too guilty and worried after so won't be doing it again. Hope everyone had a nice weekend and is ready for Christmas Xmas Smile

Definitely agree not to get sucked into buying loads of stuff - babies are like weddings, you want something totally normal and the someone sees it's because you're getting married/pregnant, and the quadruple the price!

Also check out the charity shops - our local oxfam had a lady who coordinated all the children's stuff for our area and she had hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of quality items for a fraction of the original cost . We were able to send her a list of what we needed and to go to her house so we had the whole range to look at!

We have nearly all we need - I'll get a new bassinet mattress and a new bouncy chair as dd's very much 2nd hand one bit the dust while she was sitting in it one day! Neutral newborn clothing is all seasonally appropriate, great timing :)

Bloody husband took the bloody car keys with him when he walked to work. This meant I missed my 16 week midwife appt as I realised too late what had happened, couldn't find the spare key and didn't have the half hour needed to walk over there. Angry

Initially the receptionist offered me an appt in two weeks at a really crap time for me work wise but I said yes thinking I'd have to make it work - got off the phone and burst into tears.

The midwife thankfully rang me back to ask if I'd like an appt with her colleague next week which is much better as it's sooner and I'll be off work. Just about calming down now but wish I hadn't missed it. I really wanted to hear the heart beat again Sad

Hope the funeral goes ok today Tori. X

Phryn how frustrating, you poor thing. Men!!

Yes just paracetamol... It's taken me a few days longer than normal to kick the cold I've had hanging over me! Hope you're feeling healthier in a day of 2! I found steaming myself over a bowl of boiling water helped clear everything out too!

Chookford · 22/12/2014 13:51

tori I hope the funeral goes as well as can be expected.

phryn that's a pain in the bum, but glad you have sorted it out for next week now.
