Twinky I'm sorry you're feeling the same, its so hard isn't it?

I said to him he should be so excited and desperate to tell people. He said he is excited, just not good at telling people "stuff"! This isn't stuff FFS!!

twinky12 · 17/12/2014 09:58

Incredibly hard, doesn't make a pregnant woman feel good. I agree its not just stuff! The fact that soon enough its going to be obvious since there's going to be a belly. And totally agree with the mum part, if I was a mum I wouldn't be happy not knowing.

naty1 · 17/12/2014 10:01

Twinky - till its here seems pretty extreme! Maybe 20w after anomaly.
Realistically labour is a bit dangerous but then once youre through that then theres cot death worries (sorry but the worry just doesnt stop).
You just do what you can to reduce risks.
And think although things happen the odds are in your favour

Number3cometome · 17/12/2014 10:06

Actually I think people should know when you are pregnant, even with the risks. I think it is important for people to know what you are going through.

I wouldn't worry about people knowing incase something goes wrong, because I think you should remain positive throughout - you shouldn't assume something will happen.

12 weeks is the traditional benchmark.

Over & Twinky - I'd tell your respective halves that you are going to be telling people after the 12 week scan and it is up to them if they wish to follow suit or deny!

That way you are sending a clear message. You do not need 'permission' from them to tell people!

naty1 · 17/12/2014 10:10

I dont think people could be upset if you dont tell them before 12w as until there is a scan and any test results you do back its common not to announce so you can make any decisions amongst yourselves.
It would be awkward if all wider family and friends know and you feel judged for decisions you make.

After 12w though yes it would be getting obvious especially dc2 onward. Though im not sure people are as observant as we assume them to be, if you wear the right clothes.
I guessed the woman in bones is pg she must have been wearing different style clothes and even if you cant see the belly sometimes peoples faces like swell a little.
A summer pg would be hard to hide though, no jumpers etc

WantToGoingTo · 17/12/2014 10:20

Uhoh have a mtg with boss in jab to discuss working hours - think they want me I change them. At the moment I start early and finish early o try to avoid traffic a I have a long drive (tho still have long journey and traffic due to roadworks). I am worried they will want me to start later and it will take me ages over to work :( by then I should have told them in pg so hoping that may away things a bit but they are meant to be all for flexible working but it doesn't sound like it! I also asked for a day off in lieu of loads of overtime - was a reluctant yes and now the meeting. In past it has always been fine, I don't get paid overtime and lots of other depta where I work do!

Gah sorry for moan...!

twinky12 · 17/12/2014 10:29

naty yeah I thought that it was extreme to. Woman I think guess I seen my closest friend 2 days ago and she knew.

number thanks for that. Everything u have said is true. Since we are the 1s that go through the body changes and hormones I think its best to have ppl know. I'm telling my family after my 12 week scan if all is well.

ohlordyplordy · 17/12/2014 10:38

Hi twinky, have you made you booking appt yet?

twinky12 · 17/12/2014 10:47

ohlordy no I rang the midwife, who was rather quite rude and said she wasn't interested until I was 8 weeks. That was Friday. I'm 8 +2 now rang and now cant get me in before christmas. How about u?

ohlordyplordy · 17/12/2014 10:54

That's awful twinky you'd think well over 7 weeks would be fine!
I called yesterday at 8+0 and they offered me xmas eve which I couldn't do, so having 2nd Jan when I'll be 10+3.

Overtiredbackagain · 17/12/2014 11:19

That's the point though, this is DC3 for me, DC1 for OH, and I am showing already although disguising it ok so far, but suit and boot for work, so it will be hard to hide. I am 11 weeks today.

I just feel I need more moral support, and since I do not have family to talk to about this, I need him to be supportive more than ever.

naty1 · 17/12/2014 11:20

I cant help feeling some of peoples treatment is a bit lax.
Minimum you should be able to pick
Up leaflets and be advised to take folic acid as soon in pg as possible.
Because the important time for this is the first trimester.
Things like being told at booking appt you should be on extra, doesnt seem very proactive.
Or talking to mw people might work out what they thought was a period was in fact implantation and they are further along.
But i can see that if they see them too early they will have a lot of cancellations.

twinky12 · 17/12/2014 11:41

I just left my details with her and she said she would be in touch, might give her another call tomorrow. Maybe give the mw a call lordy to see if there is any cancelations. I understand the reasoning before 8 weeks but as u say naty so much information u need ect.

Number3cometome · 17/12/2014 11:52

Naty1 totally agree, you should at least have the folic acid information etc

My area are good, they like you to book in as soon as you know so they can get the ball rolling, although my full book in appointment is on Sunday and I have already had bloods and a scan done.

They wanted my scan done before booking me in which is fair enough.

Munching slowly on shortbreads. Just cancelled lunch with a good friend, feel terrible but I am so rough today.

Over same, I am 8+4 or 9+4 depending on LMP or scan and I am showing. I can physically feel my stomach stretching, especially last night, it was quite uncomfy actually. After 2 sections and anterior spinal fusion (scar runs from bikini line to above belly button) my stomach muscles are like mash potato. It's all stretched out and patchwork. Nice!

WantToGoingTo · 17/12/2014 12:13

number I am only on dc1 but am also showing! It is all bloat but it is significantly noticeable. And I have changed shape around knicker line so makes bloat look more like pregnancy! Wearing lots of baggy clothes at the moment... And I am 8+5

Number3cometome · 17/12/2014 12:15

WantToGoingTo I didn't show until 20 weeks with my first one, I was desperate to show!!
With DC 2 was more like 9 or 10 weeks.

Now showing with DC3 haha

My friend is 17 weeks and still not showing, although I know others who literally show as soon as they miss a period through bloating then the rest just growing.

I can't wait for my bump to get big! (she says now but will moan later haha)

Overtiredbackagain · 17/12/2014 12:41

Number3 I think its the bump that makes it realistic! Especially since I'm at the stage I don't feel pregnant at all!!

Pipbin · 17/12/2014 12:53

Virtual. Sending you good wishes.

Number3cometome · 17/12/2014 12:53

It's the nausea for me. Yeah that sailing in the North Sea feeling all day long haha

WantToGoingTo · 17/12/2014 13:00

I really do have nausea today thought I would throw up my soup at lunch ugh - first experience of being properly nauseous at work - not fun! Feel for all you ladies that have had this every day since day 1

Zampa · 17/12/2014 13:18

Gutted. Just missed out on an ebay maternity clothes auction... Hope that it wasn't one of you guys...

JoY007 · 17/12/2014 13:57

Thinking of you virtual

I am showing a bit, but looks like I had too many pies Hmm not a cute bump.

I have given up on hiding, wearing as much of my normal clothes as possible. Most people are descent and may notice but will appreciate that you have not told them.

Hip/pelvis pain still on, taking its sweet time to ease off completely. I am missing exercise Sad

Leela5 · 17/12/2014 14:09

Hope you're ok virtual x

I'm definitely showing, I was asked yesterday when I'm due and when I said July they were shocked. It's my first baby but perhaps I'm squishy or something? It's all in my uterus and pokes out.

Had private scan this morning at 9+5 and there was my little one wriggling about :). We are on track measurement wise. Means I can tell family at Christmas.

StoneBaby · 17/12/2014 14:11

After a rubish night due to hyperglycemia I have taken the afternoon off. I can like this have a nap before collecting DS from the after school club.

Joy I miss my daily walks as I can only walk 10mn without getting any pains.

over and twinky I agree just tell them you are saying on [insert date] and stick to your guns.

DC2 here and my tommy is bigger as I can't keep it in

9 weeks today

Number3cometome · 17/12/2014 14:12

Leela5 Brilliant news because I remember you saying you were worrying before wih the lack of symptoms Smile

I want another scan now. So tempted to pay private rather than waiting until 15th Jan. I know, I know, scan greed.
