New thread because the last one was giving me "Sorry, this thread is too big to accept new messages".
Onilly - sorry, yes I am sure it's due date - see here - "the Regulations apply to women expecting their babies on or after 1 April 2007.... If an employee's 'expected week of child-birth' falls before 1 April 2007 the old rules will apply."

OP posts:

evenhope-my dd1 and my mother made many comments about the size of my behind when i was expecting dd2.i dont know why my girls seem to grow in my bum?!oh and i will back you up on clare being an awful name-its just sooo boring.

kittythescarygoblin · 28/10/2006 08:27

Evenhope, dd1 grew out of my bum :0

Daisy clare, yeah, I agree with you so very, very boring, sorry. My middle name is Clare Dp's can come up with some strange names. A friend of mine is due in Feb and her husband wanted Walter for a boy and some long and unproounableWelsh name. Luckily for her it's a girl but her dp is still hoping the sonogapher got it wrong !!

LaidbackinaTransylvaniancoffin · 28/10/2006 12:33

Hello...

Names are such hard things to decide. DH and I have different opinions, but I can normally persuade him to see my point of view ! I think Edward is a lovely name... it was the name of my my favorite grandfather - he was known as Ted. You can also shorten it to Ned which DH says is a donkeys name , but I think is cute. I probably wont divulge my babys proposed name as it is a bit unusual( a bit like how you felt about Gloria I suspect Diva)

Where is everyone today... Christmas shopping ..heaven forbid you are this organised ??

divastrop · 28/10/2006 14:12

laidback-im glad i didnt tell anybody Glorias name when i was pg as i didnt realise it was the name of the hippo out of madagascar
ned is the name of the main charachter in a programe on nickleodeon, and he is pretty cool,so i wouldnt think it would be associated with donkeys anymore

christmas shopping?i hope not.my sister gets all hers in september.im trying to forget about it seeing as i have 2 birthdays in december also and if we are going to move house we wont be able to afford christmas full stop.

today i look pregnant,my back hurts, and so does my leg.and my bottom has grown.i cant believe some people actually like being pregnant

20+3

flannelettepyjamas · 29/10/2006 00:47

Hi everyone and welcome to Anglaise and Muppet.
We're doing ok over here.
Had my 18 week scan last week and all seems fine. We didn't find out the sex ( I was trying really hard not to look and luckily didn't see anything) Baby is growing normally but I am still not looking pregnant at all really. I have started to wear mat clothes though as my normal clothes are too tight. Went out last night in quite a fitted dress and everyone expressed surprise that I am 18 weeks gone! Oh well. You can't win. Somehow I feel a bit of a failure cos I don't look pregnant. ( But it's useful at work as I don't want my clients to know I'm pregnant just yet!)
I'll be having a growth scan at 30 weeks as DD was a teeny weeny one (5lb4oz at term).
I've had 3.5 hours' sleep, I have a chest infection and we have 3 social things on today . And DH has the Hangover from Hell so he won't be much use.
Hope everyone's doing ok

kittythescarygoblin · 29/10/2006 08:15

Hi, Fp, sorry you're feeling so crap. If I felt like you I would cancel any engagments I had.
There will come a time when baby arrives that you will find it even harder with 2 to actually be ill so make the most of it now, seriously .

With my first and second I didn't really show until I was about 5 months. Probably due to a nice toned tum, those were the days

zombiebridepenny · 29/10/2006 09:42

Hi All
Nice to be back on mumsnet, been away getting fed at my parents. Bump is really sticking out now. almost 20wks halfway!!!
I had a dream that he would be early so I'm expecting him anytime from 1st March now...

zombiebridepenny · 29/10/2006 09:45

Laidback,..Yes I am that girl, I have completed half my christmas shopping already. Problem is its around about now people start hinting at what they would like. I'm having none of that!

Rosyspookily · 29/10/2006 10:45

I'm planning to do some serious christmas shopping next week hopefully. I find it stressfull thinking of the huge task ahead, so once I've done loads I can relax and enjoy christmas build up.
Still enjoying halloween yet though. I'm going to have loads of singing dressed up kids at the door this next few nights and I've got hardly anything in for them....they'll be getting 2p and a couple of grapes.
I'm really tired, sore and grumpy this weekend. My mind is SOOO slow I really suspect my irons way down, (I'm prone to that.)Too lethargic and dopey to take any iron supplement...
21 weeks

LaidbackinaTransylvaniancoffin · 29/10/2006 11:48

Well done Rosy and Penny for being so organised...

My family/friends will all be getting things from Sri Lanka this year ... there is a fantastic shop called 'barefoot' that does beautiful colourful kids toys that are fairly traded (but cheap), so thats the young ones sorted. The adults can all get spices and all things nices !

I am coming back to England to pick the kids up on Thursday. It's the longest I have ever been away from them so it will be great to see them.

Have just found out that my brother will be there too... we don't get along very well, but he has just had a diagnosis of cyclothymia (like bi-polar) , so will try and be patient with him.

Good luck to everyone who is having scans this week xx

kiwibella · 29/10/2006 17:00

Hello everyone!! I'm envious of you both getting ahead with your shopping. I haven't thought of it yet. Glad you had a fabulicious time with your folks, Penny... there's nothing like going home Get some iron, Rosy you know you'll feel better! Hope your brother is doing ok, Laidback - make the most of the time with him and ENJOY getting back to your kids. They're probably missing you just as much.

We've (finally) got MissE packed and ready for her school journey tomorrow, including her halloween costume . There weren't too many dramas - but can't wait to see how everything is squashed back in on Friday . Dh and I are looking forward to long, lazy evenings this week, 'tho I know we will miss her terribly.

Ditto for everyone having scans... if I remember right, it's a busy week this week - we're on Thursday... really can't wait.

zombiebridepenny · 29/10/2006 17:15

Yes good luck with the Scan girls, My Niece asked me what is was like to have a scan and I told her it was like being washed and Ironed.

leoghostlygaela · 29/10/2006 20:54

Hi everyone,
Great to hear everyone is having happy scans! Should we start a new stats thread to include if we are having boys or girls?

Kitty, I too am really, really anxious about this pregnancy - I'll hold your hand if you hold mine ! Is there anything particular that's worrying you so much? Can't remember what scans you've had but can you have another one to give you some reassurance? Have you spoken to your mw about your anxiety?

Onilly - get your dh involved as much as possible from the beginning, get him to come to every appointment with you, every scan etc... and if possible get a private room to stay in at the hospital so he can stay with you, let him be the first to do the nappy changing, bathing etc, make sure he takes a week or two off after the birth, not just a day or two... could help make his plan to move his priorities fix.

We stocked up on loads of treats for halloween, but noone will come until Tuesday and dh has eaten most of the stuff already!

Do I look pregnant? Yes! No way to hide it! Its nothing to do with my stomach muscles, I am/was (ha ha) very fit, flat stomach, but only just a bit over 5'3, have gained about 2.5kg (5.5lb) there is nowhere for hte twins ot go except outwards! Thankfully not sideways yet though !

Christmas? What's that? When is it again?????

kittythescarygoblin · 29/10/2006 21:38

Leo, that's a really kind post, thanks, i'll hold your hand
I think my anxiety stems from all the miscarriages I've had in the past and I can't quite believe that this one is going to be ok.
I'm much more reassured now that I feel it kick and wriggle all the time. When i was liying in the bath this morning I saw it's movements very clearly through my tum
I'm having my 20 week scan this Thursday and hopefully all will be well.
I too was thinking that we should start up a new boy/girl list. Or we could just write number of weeks and sex if we know each time we post IYKWIM.

I've started some christmas shopping, I've done quite alot for the kids, as I've seen things. Trouble is it all gets bunged in the back of a cupboard in order to hide it quickly and i forget what I've bought so I keep buying more. Some people do very well because of my chaotic present hiding .
I asked dp to buy me one of thos full body length pillows, they look sooo comfy have a look at this

eidsvold · 29/10/2006 23:27

scan for me on Thurs ( 20 week one) but will only be 19 weeks. A little nervous - 20 week scan is when they picked up dd1's heart defect and we learned of her down syndrome. 20 week with dd2 picked up echogenic focii in her heart - increasing my risk of dd2 also having down syndrome.

Wonder what this one will bring. Although I love being able to see the baby. Dd1 we finally found out at another scan what gender she was. Dd2 would give nothing away even at 36 week scan - she had her ands cupped down in her groin so the sonographer could see nothing. Wonder if this one will be more co operative. If 12 week is anything to go by - nope - will not see anything. Very unco-operative at 12 weeks

Otherwise - very busy month ahead with lots on and of course then into the christmas rush and school/kindy break ups for the summer. Getting warm here already let along Jan and Feb!! Am finally getting more energy and getting more done.

LaidbackinaTransylvaniancoffin · 30/10/2006 03:11

Morning !

Thursday is going to be a busy day ! Extra good luck for your scan Eidsvold. My SIL in Perth had a difficult experience with her scan in her last pregnancy and is now pregnant again. She has her anomaly scan a week today and is really really anxious. Hope all goes well. Is there a likelihood of this baby having similar heart problems ?

Kitty, those pillows are gargantuan (sp?) - look comfortable though

EDD 11/3 Boy

eidsvold · 30/10/2006 03:33

we have since learnt since dd2 was born that my dh was born with a heart condition - and so our chances of our children have a heart condition is 1 in 50. Dd1's heart defect was related to her down syndrome and totally unrelated to dh's iyswim.

Luckily dd1's fab cardiologist has offered to scan dd2 at dd1's next check up next year - saves the whole referral process.

Piffle · 30/10/2006 09:02

Mornign all. Hope everyones weekend went well.
My bump has just suddenly shot outwarsd and a little weight has just flew on as if overnight!
Dp has gone into revolt about finding out the sex next week
He says if I am so certain about it being a boy then have courage of my convictions and don't ask He has said nothing for weeks about it, I thought he had given up protesting.
I am desp to know, I am thinking of writing card with B/G on it for the sonographer and asking him to cross out which it isn't.
I will then try to keep it a secret [gulp]

On a good note SPD has calmed in my back, moved more round to my groin and hip which is annoying but infinitely less painful.
Am having to use crutches to get up and down stairs though.

zombiebridepenny · 30/10/2006 09:38

Morning All, my bump must be sticking out as they told me to ask for help at the post office this morning. Mind you I did have three parcels and two large envelopes, must have been my heavy breathing.
Getting a bit nervous about scan, but am trying to convince myself that what will be will be.
Can't wait to be there really.

zombiebridepenny · 30/10/2006 09:42

kitty- you can see the movements! thats great, I get regular kicks but you can barely feel them on the outside, DP feels left out.

Rosyspookily · 30/10/2006 10:12

laidback your ideas for pressies sound lovely!

Kiwi thanks for the nag I will get iron today, it makes me constipated probably why I'm reluctant!

Kitty, I love the look of that pillow! And I do the same thing as you with pressies, forget what I've got...so I'm not really organised. If I didn't start now I'd never manage it!
And I always buy my nieces twice or thrice because the little girl in me takes over in a toy shop!

I am nervous about my scan too, because I haven't done any of the tests...last pregnancy there was too much fluid on the kidney which amounted to nothing in the end but caused loads of concern. It must be so stressfull to find a heart problem Eidsvold.

Piffle I was reading the spd thread with horror because I didn't realise it can carry on afterwards and people are having an awful time with it. Incuding you. I am getting off really lightly so far and it is weird because I was 10 times worse 2 pregnancys ago when I could hardly walk from 4 months. I expected it to get worse if anything and I don't know what I'm doing differently or how long before it kicks in for me.

Hulloooo I'm back (waves)

Got three hours sleep las night/this morning due top flight delays and DS and DD are still in bed (got home at 4.45am )

Its cold isn't it?

Have attempted to scan the thread - Kitty congrats on DD3 walking, she must look so cute!

Belated happy birthday Amie - how was the meal?

Onilly - I get scattier wih each baby - used to be a control freak with a photographic memory and am now a complete dipstick!!

Congrats on the girl news, Onilly and Evenhope :0

Muppet - Congrats - I'm having a boy too !

Oh and welcome to muppet, Eva and Anglaise - great to have you join us

Jay I also have a low lying placenta and a scan booked for 36 weeks to see if its moved, apparently 99% do move and cause no problems at all, so fingers crossed for both of our placentas!

Hi everyone else, and sorry to hear of any spd creeping up on those afflicted - it sounds so painful. Its bad enough being PG, without having excruciatingly painfiul hips as well poor you

Hols was good, apart from: flight delays last night, one crappy rainy day when resort got flooded, one mega row with hotel after a restaurant was very rude to us all, one attempt by reception to rip us off oh, and, having to call the emergency doctor after DD got an insect bite hat turned into a really scary infection (oh and two slightly runny bums at one point), oh and DD getting hysterical at midnight last night on plane after waiting about 5 hours for our flight!

Morocco is lovely though and it was hot, hot, hot most of the time. The Moroccan cuisine certainly put an end to my constipation too!

foxinbubblesletsmaketrouble · 30/10/2006 10:23

ooops - 22+1 and mine deffo has a willy

Rosyspookily · 30/10/2006 10:45

welcome back fox!

muppetisacat · 30/10/2006 11:07

Good luck to everyone having their scans this week. Eidsvold...will be thinking lots of positive thoughts for you. I had to have a fetal heart scan at St Thomas because of my heart murmur. It's nerve-wracking I know.

People keep asking me if I am feeling the delicate butterfly flutterings of my baby... delicate my ar*e! Somehow he must have smuggled a stick in there and is taking great delight in ramming it against my insides at every opportunity. God only knows what it will be like as he grows.

22+2 (boy)
