New thread because the last one was giving me "Sorry, this thread is too big to accept new messages".
Onilly - sorry, yes I am sure it's due date - see here - "the Regulations apply to women expecting their babies on or after 1 April 2007.... If an employee's 'expected week of child-birth' falls before 1 April 2007 the old rules will apply."

Hi girls.

v. jealous of all of you say who say you haven't really put any weight on. I reckon I've gained at least a stone and a half.

Sorry diva: can't help you with the family law thing.

Welcome Eva and Muppet

Hope everyone's SPD/headaches/sickness are behaving themselves this evening.

Just had a row with DH over the phone about the hours he's doing. This week he's worked 3 evenings and Sunday afternoon, and he'll have to do 3 evenings next week too. He's just had a promotion, and I knew he'd be working harder, but I feel single at the moment.

Does anyone else have a workaholic DH?

leoghostlygaela · 26/10/2006 20:42

Sorry, i haven't managed to keep up with you all again! Just dropping in to say hello before i go to bed!

Hello to Eva ! Its nice to have you with us!

And haven't put on much weight myself, but i am of those of you who dont have bellies yet! Mine is HUGE! I already have sore ribs, muscles and skin is stretched so much its painful, hips and pelvis ache from the rapid belly growth! Ah well, that's what i get for being silly enough to get pregnant with twins !

Whoo - I sympathise with you very much, I am lucky that dh is definitely NOT a workaholic, but if he works late one evening I hate it so would be really p!ssed if I was you !

Oh, scrolling through there looks like some interesting discussions, i'll try to catch up properly tomorrow!

leoghostlygaela · 26/10/2006 20:44

And hello Muppet !

leoghostlygaela · 26/10/2006 20:44

....and I'm 20 weeks 2 days :O!
Its countdown time!

TheBlonde · 26/10/2006 20:45

Whoo - you have my sympathy, my DH has just called to say he is finally leaving the office

kiwibella · 26/10/2006 20:58

and I've just got in with mine who was in Edinburgh today! It was an early start dropping him at the airport at 6am... but luckily only happens about once a month. Otherwise, my dd is out the door bang on finishing time.

Thanks for the info Eva and Muppet. It is purely the fear of needles that even has me contemplating rejecting this. Although, I'm sure that they waited until dd was born to test her blood to see if we were compatible / needed a jab. I'll do some more research but probably end up going with it.

kiwibella · 26/10/2006 20:59

my DH is out the door at the end of the day .

Anglaise1 · 27/10/2006 07:17

Do any of you actually look pregnant yet? I've put on about half a stone, but only have a tiny bump that doesn't show and am still wearing normal clothers. I'm 21 weeks today. Its been so long since I was last pregnant (6 years) that I can't remember much about anything!

TheBlonde · 27/10/2006 09:19

Hi Anglaise1 - yes I am looking very pregnant
Roofing guy noticed yesterday even though I was wearing a baggy sweatshirt

eidsvold · 27/10/2006 09:25

yes look pregnant with quite noticeable pregnant bump - 18 weeks today.

kittythescarygoblin · 27/10/2006 09:28

Yes, I think I do now, although I'm not nearly as big as with the last preg .
19+ weeks

Rosyspookily · 27/10/2006 09:28

Hi everyone, people are asking me when its due so I guess I must look pregnant! I've put on just under a stone now.

My dh does get taken over by work as its his own business. I'd like him to work part-time! And he would like that too but there's bills blah blah blah.... oh well.
20wks 5

muppetisacat · 27/10/2006 10:54

Just got back from 21 week scan - it's a boy, ds & dh over the moon... me and dd feeling outnumbered now!

All was fine on scan... very relieved as had large bleed at 13 wks and was told was miscarrying. 8 wks of light bleeding later and finally things are easing up! Baby looked fine but slightly large head and stomach... oh joy! Plus it was breech - but I'm assuming it will turn around loads before it's due. Have to go back for scan in Jan as placenta is low lying (probably what caused bleed) but they seemed confident it would move up in time.

It's almost like experiencing things for the first time in a way as dd is 9 and ds is 7. Is anybody else aware if they're having a boy??? Any name suggestions gratefully recieved!

Whoowhoobewhooooooh · 27/10/2006 11:52

Congratulations on your boy Muppet - especially as it sounds like you've had a very tense time. Our boy name is Jonathan Peter. I love Edward (Teddy) and Charlie (I'm not an obssessive royalist, honestly), but DH doesn't. I'm pretty positive it's a boy).

Anglaise: welcome. I look very pregnant. Am refusing to weigh myself, as it'll just make me miserable. Love my bump though. All my maternity trousers are on the second-to-last fitting already.

DH's work involves more evenings now as he's just moved over into Theatrical Distribution (cinema releases), so he has to go to gala events and opening nights. We're having a conversation about it this weekend, as I don't want him to be an absentee father. Neither does he, come to that! I'm sure we'll sort something out.

21+5

muppetisacat · 27/10/2006 12:33

I love Edward (Teddy) too!! Could be on the shortlist I think.

I am certainly showing now... my kids do impressions of me by sticking cushions up their jumpers and waddling around the house. Makes me feel really confident about myself!! Actually they make me look as though I'm walking like Max Wall (anyone remember him????!!!)

My dh is certainly workaholic whooowhoobewhooooo, we are lucky if we see him 2 nights out of 5 in the week - more usually the kids don't see him until w/e as he leaves b4 they're awake and home once they're asleep. I thank god dd and ds are 9 & 7 because I couldn't cope with younger kids/toddlers AND a newborn come March.

kiwibella · 27/10/2006 12:39

congratulations Muppet!! Hopefully we'll know more this time next week

My belly is showing although no-one has asked yet! It's funny because dh and I are sure that the size of my belly is what it was full term with dd. I didn't put on much weight with my previous pregnancy but I was ten years younger and a whole lot fitter back then .

Has anyone else seen a heated belt product for your back advertised on telly? I caught the ad this morning but can't remember the brand name (sorry ). Wondering if it's any good for relief??

Rosyspookily · 27/10/2006 13:37

Muppet thats lovely to know alls well with your boy now- after such a stressful early pregnancy.
I remember Max Wall. Have been known to do his walk
I've lost count but I think boys are outnumbering girls here so far.
The more people find out what they are having, the more I am BUSTING to know too.

RabidZombieAmie · 27/10/2006 13:57

That's great news Muppet! Congratulations.

Just got back from my 22 week scan. Everything fine and everything is in "all the right places". Scanner said LO one was a real wriggler and fighter! Great!

We didn't find out the sex, so still having a surprise!

LO's head is right below the right side of my ribs, but the amount its wriggling (scanner complained as it took her ages to do measurements and find suitable pictures!) I'm sure it won't be there for long.

Hips really achey today, but the elation of scan is helping with that at the moment!

kittythescarygoblin · 27/10/2006 14:08

Congrtas to all those who have had their scans and have lovely healthy babies
I had a horrible dream last night that I had my scan but it all went horribly, horribly wrong. I shan't go into details, but it made me cry .
I guess that means I still have ALOT of anxiety about this pregnancy.
The night before I dreamt I was besty friends with the Queen and we were going to find a decent handbag for me for state visits
Then I had a chocolate covered christmas tree delivered at the end of october and I was cross because it wouldn't last 'till christmas.
Very strange Freud would have a field day wouldn't he ??

onillyboilsandbroomsticks · 27/10/2006 14:32

hi all
Whoo, yehaa, so I am NOT the only one who feels single... DH is also massive work nut & I married him knowing this... however he is rewarded well and loves his job.... he loves being at home too - I dont know what the answer is - frankly am hoping that LO will have some effect on his work home balance, which he swears it will but who knows ?

Part of my reluctance for many years to have kids was based on both of our hectic work lives - he's wanted kids so much so am banking he will catch on. Any tips Whoo, let me know!

Kiwi - me too, I saw that on telly before, I think it contains ibuprofen though, so I discounted if for us now. I have found a "lavender bag" (from Holland and Barrett) heated in microwave and applied does the job.... its buckwheat and lavendar and smells divine. Some nights a hot bath & early night with lavendar bag does the job on back ache, neck ache and belly ache!

Muppet welcome and congrats Amie I am inspired by your willpower not to know!

Kitty I cant tell you the dreams I've been having. Urg.

Weight and bump seem ok I think - so far 8 pounds and bump is round and low.

LaidbackinaTransylvaniancoffin · 27/10/2006 14:58

Afternoon...

Muppet ... mine is a boy too... and I certainly feel outnumbered with DH and and 2 DS already I think most people on this thread who have found out the gender are having boys so far apart from evenhope who is having a pink one !!

I have been loafing around today as it is pouring down outside. Have read loads and feel quite relaxed. MY DH and I are having a year off work at the mo, so get to see each other lots. It has beem really great and brought the family much closer together. Trying to work out if/when we come back to the uk how we can have a simple but comfortable lifesytle and both not work hard ! Any ideas ??

divastrop · 27/10/2006 15:02

hello.
welcome anglaise.i am starting to look pg now,i think, though nobody else has noticed yet.
ive put on a stone sofar, which is very little for me seeing as i put that much on in the first 12 weeks in my last 2 pgs.in fact,i'd put on well over 2 stone by 20 weeks with dd2.

kitty-ive been having some horrible anxiety freams, about this baby and other things.i had a horrible dream about ds2 the other night...thats why i asked about family law and posted a thread on legal/money matters.it scared me.

congrats on the scans to those whove had them today.i cant wait till tuesday now.

i think the baby is having a major growth spurt judging by the pains in my back and down the side of my tummy-feels like everythngs stretching.

20+2

muppetisacat · 27/10/2006 16:51

I wonder what was happening in the world when we were busy conceiving that put the emphasis on the production of boys?.....

Anglaise1 · 27/10/2006 17:38

Thanks all for your nice welcomes! DP doesn't want to know the sex, so I specifically asked not to find out when the amnio was done, but I'm very curious now you are all finding out! I've got my next scan at 22 weeks (its a bit later in France, as is the due date) so I'm jealous of all of you having yours at the moment! Went to buy some maternity clothes today, so I hope I'll need them eventually, managed to stop myself from going to Formes as I can't justify spending £100 on a pair of jeans for 3 months wear!

evenhope · 27/10/2006 17:41

DH and DS2 keep making rude comments about my shape- I think I've put on as much at the back as the front

We still haven't told anyone except the kids but to me it is so obviously a bump that I'm amazed no-one has said anything. I seem to spend all day at work doing a Kat Slater with a piece of A4 or something held in front of me

I've bought 2 pairs of maternity trousers and a load of size 18 long-sleeved shirts.

I asked DH not to tell his mother it's a girl (she will be insufferable) and he says "why not?" I wonder if he was actually around when the other kids were born?!!! Or is his memory that short?

We're arguing about names (another reason I don't want other people in RL to know the sex before it's born- the next question is "what are you calling her?"). His favourite at the moment is Daisy Clare- 2 names I really cannot stand (apologies to any mothers of Daisys or Clares). I need to stop him keeping on before everyone else decides that's her name and we get stuck with it grr grr grr!!!
