Goodness I hope the sonographer got our gender right otherwise we'll have a girl dressed in blue for the next few months! How do we start a petition? Wink

CatFaceCrayola · 13/12/2014 17:25

Down with Due Dates! No idea how one would go about starting a petition.

That the baby is actually a boy has been one of my big fears! Will be a very feminine dressed and nameless baby if it's a boy

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 13/12/2014 17:36

All bow down before the might of the magic spinny circle of cycles the midwife possesses!

Funnily enough we're supposedly having a boy and can't decide on a name, whereas we have a name for a girl if we were to ever have one. Maybe it would work out better if he is a she, at least he'd have a name Confused

CatFaceCrayola · 13/12/2014 23:56

Peace...that made me laugh. Pretty ridiculous when you think about it really!

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 14/12/2014 02:32

Ow ow ow ow! Get your head out of my cervix or so help meeeeee...

OP posts:
carlene1987 · 14/12/2014 09:28

I'm cheering baby to stay on my cervix. It's weird that you get to a stage where you wish for pain Hmm

Lucy90 · 14/12/2014 09:47

Yes carlene im also thinking bring on the pain!

Chips1999 · 14/12/2014 11:54

I definitely like the idea of abolishing due dates! Or they could change the due date to the 42 week date instead of the 40 week date?! I went overdue 6 days with DS and 4 days with DD and that was bad enough!

Hopefully not too much longer to go for those of you still waiting!

I feel like we're doing a great job with two children when DH is here, but I'm panicking about how I'll manage when I'm doing the night feeds and then trying to manage with DS and DD all day when DH is back at work....!

DH is brilliant, I think he's done more night feeds than me and been helping loads with cooking, washing up, food shops, taking DS out swimming and to the cinema and more!

Lucy90 · 14/12/2014 12:07

I dont know why im so frustrated that she isnt here yet, shes not due until a week tomorrow!
I just feel like i miss her if that makes any sense?? And im worried that she thinks no one is waiting for her and thats why she isnt coming out-i know this may sound ridiculous but i hate the thought of her being lonely in there on her own despite me and OH talking to her, putting music on, rubbing my belly etc! Does anyone else have these thoughts or am i being overly hormonal?

Roonerspism · 14/12/2014 13:29

My theory on late babies was that they were so damn happy in there that they didnt want to come out. 24/7 food, warmth and comfort. So I suppose the reverse of your thinking but just as hormonally valid :)

I'm having problems settling DC3 and as I gazed at her last night I felt like she was telling me it was a lot nicer where she was a few days ago than her cold horrible crib :)

carlene1987 · 14/12/2014 14:09

Hormones during pregnancy are crazy and seem worse in the morning for me for some reason. Perhaps it's the disappointment that nothing seems like it's going to happen, again. 40+4 today and miserable.
Definitely agree with making due date 42 weeks.
I find myself getting very bitter about people who were due the same time as me having their babies and then getting annoyed at myself for being bitter Blush
I'm sure you'll manage once you get in the swing of things Chips. It'll get easier after more recovery time too. It's great that your DH is helpful ??

Lucy90 · 14/12/2014 15:08

Ah thankyou rooner i hadnt thought of that, now i can imagine her all snuggled up in there :)
Thanks Smile

Thanks carlene, I think once I have to get on with it I'll be alright! Taking DS and DD to two Christmas parties tomorrow, so if nothing else DD will sleep on the way to/from the parties!

I haven't had a sweep before silverandblack but I'm guessing it must feel similar to a smear test? I've only had one internal examination for each labour and that wasn't too bad.

Phoned ward, and agreed unless I start contractions just going to wait overnight. No obvious cramps or contractions so this is only sign! I got up off sofa (well DH manoeuvred me up) and I was going to go to kitchen for a drink and then toilet and I just felt it trickling and by the time I got there and sat down it was much more - not quite a gush but fairly constant.

Eek I'm excited! How can I go to bed?! I had tasks to do this week, baby has obviously been listening to my pleas to avoid Christmas though! Grin

Roonerspism · 14/12/2014 23:34

Ooh espa! Take last pictures of bump and get ready. Good luck!

CatFaceCrayola · 14/12/2014 23:47

Good look espa!

carlene i totally keep getting bitter feelings towards people who have babies especially if they were due way after me. Have to keep telling myself off for it!

I had a sweep last week. Was pretty uncomfortable, more than a smear. But she had to have a right good root about in there and still couldn't get to my cervix.

I'm 41 sodding weeks today. Grumble. Was my.mums bday today so really wanted the baby to show up, but she has other ideaa.

However i did finally get some Vag Snot (mucus plug) today. I know it doesn't necessarily mean anything at all but it's the first and only sign I've had that labour may eventually happen! So i count it as progress!

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 15/12/2014 03:19

Good luck Espa :)

I went to sleep at 9pm because I could barely keep my eyes open. Woke up at 2am starving and wide awake. Arrrrrgh.

Can anyone tell me when internal examinations start happening? I've got my 38 week appointment with the community midwife on Tuesday and I want to be prepared.

I woke up for a wee and started feeling pain so im hoping this is something although its probably wind Hmm
And i dont know peace, im 39 weeks today and havent had any examinations yet!

espa · 15/12/2014 04:21

Fingers crossed lucy. Smile I've not slept and pretty tired. DH has though!! Had intermittent cramps / contractions so had a bath just before 2am. Now cramps are constant - worse than normal period cramps but not really obvious contractions. Don't want to leave it too long before going in, though we are only 15 mins away at this time (up to 40 mins at rush hour). Going to see how I am in half an hour. Eek!
