We were getting perilously close to being full up, hope no one minds!

Ugh I had a crap nights sleep. Woke up feeling like I was going to be sick, it's the closest I've come to being sick this whole pregnancy. I think it was heartburn, which I've never had before. My throat was burning and I could taste acid. I took a couple of Gaviscon tablets we had in our medicine box and tried to sleep upright which wasn't very comfy (I usually sleep almost completely flat). Really hope this isn't something that's going to become a habit for me, it was horrible! Sad Going to buy some liquid Gaviscon today just in case.

kismac · 14/12/2014 10:16

Ha ha Lauren. I love my sleep, so really not looking forward to having to give it up.

Oh Banana, yuck. Maybe things are just needing to stretch a wee bit to make some room. Hopefully, it settles down.

Lauren82000 · 14/12/2014 10:29

I only got mild in indigestion and heartburn in the first few weeks then right at the end when your boobs rest on your bump. This pregnancy appears to be following a similar pattern as I got heartburn early on and it was the first thing MiL said to me. (Are you pregnant?) we were keeping it quiet at that point so outright lied to her face. Making me feel guilty which did not help the heartburn!
Not looking forward to the late heartburn but mine wasn't as bad as my bosses she was chugging gaviscon straight from the bottle all day and night.

cinnamongreyhound · 14/12/2014 11:02

Get well soon smogsville! Personally I think no amount of cream helps, you either get them or you don't. I have loads from gaining 9st in a year when I was 18-19 nothing to do with pregnancy but haven't had any while pregnant and nor did my mum. I used Palmers cocoa butter with both my previous pregnancies but not sure I'll bother this time, I have loads of excess skin on my belly so not a lot to stretch really! I love Bodyshop bodybutters but never put them on my bump, just arms and legs Xmas Confused

I absolutely detest gaviscon and had heartburn (as you said burning in my throat) with both boys as they were very high so far only had it once this time BananaToast and found sipping milk helped a lot! I find laying on my left helps a lot too. Also find sweet things make it worse.

FreedomHuntress · 14/12/2014 11:23

A baby doesn't always mean rubbish sleep. We had a pretty smooth ride of it, and with DS at four now, still do. He is late to bed, sleeps well through the night, and late to rise. Lots of lovely snuggly lie-ins! I know the late nights don't suit everyone else, but it works for us.

Felt some good movement last night in bed.

I'm not sure lotions and potions work for stretch marks. Eat well, drink lots of water, and hope you have lucky genes. I think that's about it!

ChickenMe · 14/12/2014 11:33

Thanks for the advice re slings mini and Stunt-is there a particular brand of ring sling that you used? I won't know about a CS until 36weeks (annoying) but about 50% chance and of course anyone could end up with an emcs anyway!!

docpeppa · 14/12/2014 11:41

Hey all, I'm 21+2 and I have gained 11 lb. I know it has been because I started work recently, I'm too tired to cook proper meals when I get in and just throw something in the oven from the freezer. Plus I keep snacking on crap!
Just curious to see what weight gain everyone else has had so far? I'm hoping mine is normal Hmm
Going to try and eat healthier from now on, apart from Christmas Day obvs

StuntNun · 14/12/2014 11:51

Chicken there are loads of good brands of ring sling, all the woven wrap manufacturers make them. It's best to buy direct from the manufacturer or a sling company such as B2boutique or Love To Be Natural. If you go on Love To Be Natural's website they have a chat function and they can advise you. There are also Facebook selling groups such as Babywearing FSOT where you can buy second hand and you would be able to get a second hand ring sling for £50 or less. With wraps and ring slings second hand is often better than new because they will be 'broken in' which means they will be softer and easier to use. If you haven't used one before I would recommend a gathered shoulder unless you have a very narrow build in which case a pleated shoulder may be more comfortable. Slings hold their value really well and you can usually sell them for not much less than you paid. Ring slings are super-comfortable if you know how to use them correctly so getting to a slingmeet or watching YouTube videos is really handy for learning tips such as bouncing the baby as you tighten.

cinnamongreyhound · 14/12/2014 12:08

Mine don't have a late bedtime but like their sleep too FreedomHuntress! Theysleep 8/8.30-7.30 most days. Ds1 is a better sleeper and sleoth 8-6 from 12 weeks old, ds2 was a bit more tricky. Both napped until they were 4 and I stopped both of them because of nursery not because they weren't going to bed.

Hi docpeppa, I've gained 4Kg so about 9lbs, 24 weeks tomorrow.

BananaToast · 14/12/2014 12:24

Thanks for the heartburn tips cinnamon, I've been fine this morning so really hoping it was a one off. Will make sure to have milk in just in case though.

docpeppa I'm 21+6 and have gained 9lb so far. I think 11lb is definitely in the recommended range so nothing to worry about. It's hard adjusting to weight gain not being a bad thing after spending so long trying not to put on weight. I do wince a little seeing the numbers on the scale going up but know it's what's meant to happen!

TinyTear · 14/12/2014 12:29

7:30 is a lie in!!

londonlivvy · 14/12/2014 12:36

I've gained 15lb and I'm 23+4. This is more than I ideally wanted tbh. Too many Christmas exceptions (mince pies etc) and not enough exercise (pgp). Must try harder.

FizzyBubbly · 14/12/2014 12:37

I love DDs early bedtime, usually no later than 7pm which is great as we can then have some much needed adult time. Only downside is she gets up anytime between 6-6:45am but then again I'm an early riser and usually awake before her anyway.

Another gaviscon chugger here too, with DD I gave up with spoons in the end and downed it straight from the bottle!

Docpeppa I'm 21+3 and gained about 14lb so far. Last pregnancy I'd only put on 4lb by this stage but then I was going to the gym nearly every day which I'm not now.

daholster · 14/12/2014 13:36

Hi all, just checking in. lady so sorry to hear your news. Given that he is feeling so well generally hopefully he will make the birth of his grandchild with no problems. Wishing him the best of luck from now on and you and your family lots of strength to keep smiling through the time you have with him and make it happy.

cinnamon also sorry to hear your little boy's kidneys aren't both better. I'm glad there is a plan though and it's amazing and such a relief that these things aren't considered life threatening as they would have been once. It's not the ideal start you would have wanted with him and I know there may be problems, but it's brilliant that they can offer you a plan like that and work their magic, thank goodness.

Boo I really hope you feel better soon, that sounds horrid...

doc I have gained about 10 pounds at 22+4 but I haven't been very careful with my eating... Far too many mince pies and too much snacking!!!

Been out to a Christmas market with dh and dd this morning, spent a fortune, had hot chocolate, it was lovely. Both are napping now... About 20 mins before we came home I got a stabbing pain in my left lower abdomen under the bump, it just kept panging. I stopped carrying dd in case it was that (12kg of wriggle)... I made lunch when we got in and it was still happening. I hadn't felt little one move since last night and start getting worried because it was making me wince when it happened. But it's only one side.

I've laid down now with the sole intent of feeling some movements and have thankfully had a few. Fewer pangs lying down too, but they are not nice. Maybe I should lie down all day...

On a happy note we put our decorations and tree up last night, dd came down this morning when it was still fairly dark and the lights were bright, and was so excited!!! I wasn't sure if she'd just be a but worried by the change and the intrusion of all this spangle into our house at her age, but she grinned and said "KISSMAS TEES!!! STAR TOP!!! SNOWMAN!!!! DEER!!!" on repeat... Pointing at all the baubles ("TEDDY!" "ROBIN!" "PRESENT!" "HAPPY TO YOU!" - confused about the celebration...) So my fears were unfounded. It may as well have been Christmas Day for her today, she was so excited! Then a sausage and a whole hot chocolate with cream to herself at the Christmas market - can it get much better when you are one?!

Hope people are having a happy Saturday and any poorly people feel better soon.

22+4

daholster · 14/12/2014 13:58

Or even, a happy Sunday!!! Blush Smile

docpeppa · 14/12/2014 14:19

Oh good, glad it seems to be in the normal range.

My first pregnancy I gained about 4 stone, so I'm trying to be careful this time!

Thanks very much Stunt that gives me food for thought more research to do next week when I should be workingGrin
Re: weight I have put on about 9kg. At the booking in the midwife said I was overweight. I said "nah I've got big bones!". I have though!! I always come up heavy!! Maybe I'm deluded Lol but most of my 10-12 stuff still fits Confused.
I have three fibroids so I'm blaming them

BananaToast · 14/12/2014 15:29

What I've read says weight gain should be around 1lb/week in the second trimester so that sounds spot on Misty.

TinyTear · 14/12/2014 15:50

Last I checked I hadn't put on anything since booking... But as I had gd last time I changed my diet a bit so managed to stick to the same...

smogsville · 14/12/2014 16:04

Thanks cinnamon. Decided to ignore the cold and have had a glorious girls brunch lobster roll, chips, spicy Virgin Mary and choc truffles. Then went to fortnums to get DH's Christmas chocs and absentmindedly ate an entire liquid kirsch truffle while waiting. Bloody delicious it was too. Can't have had more than a teaspoon of the liqueur in it so I reckon probably fine on a full tummy?!

Can I wholeheartedly recommend one of the u-shaped pregnancy sleeping pillows? A friend who has just given birth has lent me hers, I got it out last night and for first time in a fortnight didn't wake up with lower back pain at 5am. It keeps you in one position and seems to support you I am in love with it. It's quite massive but don't be put off.

smogsville · 14/12/2014 16:05

Oh and to answer someone's question I have gained just over 3kg since booking I only know this bc they weighed me at scan on Friday. Think that's about half a stone or so?

21+4

ChickenMe · 14/12/2014 17:14

Lol I have put on too much then, reading everyone else's. Over a stone since pre-pregnancy. Too much chocolate I think!!

Hidingthefear · 14/12/2014 17:36

Back home to rainy Manchester but I'm glad I have my own bed back! Back isn't as painful now I'm in my own bed but still pains me if I slouch, twist the wrong way, cross or uncross my legs, bend my knees when lying on my back or sometimes getting in and out of the car. Roll on May when I can take some ibuprofen eh Hmm

doc I decided to weigh myself for the first time since before I was preggers when I read your post and nearly fell on the floor when I saw double figures. So I've gained a stone and am 22+6 :( not sure how that's happened she says putting mcdonalds happy meal wrapper in the bin Blush dread to think how much it woukd have been had it not been for the vomiting and loss of apetite. I've been told to expect 1/2lb to 1lb per week until birth :o

StuntNun · 14/12/2014 17:37

I've put on loads but my scales have broken so I don't know how much. I was dieting before I got pregnant though so I think that may have had a rebound effect on my weight gain. I'm trying to eat healthily and then before I know it I've had three bags of crisps in a row.
