Had a rather un-original attempt at a new name! Hop across ladies!

Hoping the stats link works...

Hi englishexpat as I wrote to missmorse I'm also an expat, though in Canada... I've found a midwife for my care as pregnancy can be quite medicalised here too. I don't work either (stay at home mum) so have been getting pretty bored and lonely since dd2 started kindergarten in September. I'm hoping my mum or mother in law will come out for the birth or shortly after too as baby is due at the start of what are 10 week summer holidays here and 3 kids and a newborn will be more than I can bear with no school for relief!

I won't be going home until at least next Christmas so it's making me quite homesick thinking of how long until we'll see our families and they get to meet baby Sad my sister also just had a little baby girl and I won't meet her until she's over a year old!

EnglishExpatUSA · 30/11/2014 00:13

Ah, three it is comforting to know we are not alone in this! And this will be no.4 for you - will definitely be in need of your expert advice! How long have you been in Canada for? Did you have your other three back home or in Canada? We only moved over here at the beginning of the year so the transistion is still ongoing - not working definitely makes it tricky to build friendships. Oh well, the baby will have to be my bestie! (God that makes me sound sad!)

Are you able to skype with your sis and her new little one? I find that really helps when I'm missing my niece. I also have what'sapp groups with all my girlfriends back home which really helps me still feel part of things. I definitely have moments where the time stretching ahead of me until I see my loved ones feels very daunting, but I'm trying to just take each day as it comes and focus on all the great things about being here. I definitely don't miss London after looking at the pics of the sales on Oxford Street earlier! I couldn't take that in my current state!

Number3cometome · 30/11/2014 07:17

joy007 great film! My blubbing thee whole way through should have alerted me to being pregnant, I found out two days later!
Hope your spotting has stopped?

Fx Sarky and lots of positive thoughts for today - keep away from your Mum, she is not good for you right now! I have a similar situation to you although my Mum isn't quite as rude. She left when I was 7 and I was raised by my Dad. It's like pulling teeth trying to keep the relationship going but alas I still try. X

Number3cometome · 30/11/2014 07:20

And yes I know it's 7am on a Sunday- I had a nightmare that OH was with a prostitute (who happened to be Helen Flanagan). I woke up crying and told him, he said don't be silly you know I'm far too tight to pay for sex. Absolutely true, I did giggle. But now I can't sleep!

Thepurplegiraffe · 30/11/2014 07:55

We couldn't believe the lie in we got till 7am this morning as dd has generally been getting up closer to 5am. The joys of having a 1 year oldHmm

broodylicious · 30/11/2014 07:58

Haha purple, I was just about to post the exact same! Dd slept until 710, which is around two hours after she'd normally wake! D'ya reckon they are planning on a) not napping later or b) will be up at 3am tomorrow to make up for it?!WinkGrin

Feeling very sorry for myself right now. Had terrible insomnia most of the night due to nausea then after I'd managed 2 hours sleep on the sofa woke up with a migraine! Headache and vomiting Sad

Thepurplegiraffe · 30/11/2014 08:41

Probably the nap in our case Broody, we have a very late 1st birthday party for all the NCT babies this afternoon so she is bound to refuse to sleep and kick off at thatSmile

Thinking of you Sarky, hope everything is ok with your LO Thanks

Leela5 · 30/11/2014 08:54

Same as you guys last night - getting up to loo and insomnia, ms kicked in at 6 so had to get up and have a yoghurt.

My womb is still stretching lots after my train journey yesterday it's quite uncomfortable. Anyone else getting noticeable stretchy pains still? It was set off by me lugging suitcase yesterday.

Thinking of you sarky

247babyonthebrain · 30/11/2014 09:03

Just checking in to new post. Good luck today Sarky ??

Ha number def a nightmare if Helen Flanigan is in it!!

I am definitely doing NCT classes. My next door neighbour did tgem in the summer and there was 8 in her class and they meet up once a week at least and have a whatsapp group going for all the questions at 2am!

Unfort i am not able to get a midwife booking appt until i am at least 12 weeks as fully booked. Scan not going to be till then to. Not great for your first pregnancy!

Loved the ?? chat - is something i seem to talk alot about both in work and out! Actually had poo chat on my first date with DH!

6+3

247babyonthebrain · 30/11/2014 09:05

Oh my pictures didnt work. It was flowers for Sarky and a poo symbol lol

Leela5 · 30/11/2014 09:09

They did work they just don't show on app sometimes :)

I forgot to say I'm 7+1

Sarkymare · 30/11/2014 09:27

Thank you ladies

Red has returned to brown and Is in very short supply this morning. I'm feeling a little more optimistic for my scan now.

I hope everyone's okay and I will update you once I'm back. Thank you so much for all the support it has got me through a tough couple of days and means the world to me Thanks

broodylicious · 30/11/2014 10:09

Oh 247, that's a right pain in the bum re not being able to get your booking in appt until 12 wks! They should at least, though, be able to call the scan team while you're there to arrange an appt the following week as it needs to be done between 11-13 weeks if you're having nt scan. My GP surgery couldn't fit me in so my mw is coming to my house two weeks today instead (I'll be 8+4 then).

Number3cometome · 30/11/2014 10:18

I saw my midwife Tuesday - still not heard about my early scan or consultant app yet? Don't want to harass but when should I chase? Got docs Wednesday to get more beta blockers so maybe will ask then?

Anyone else a high risk pregnancy under consultant only care or any previous eclampsia / HELP ladies?

7 + 1

Leela5 · 30/11/2014 10:20

number if you're having early scan it's normally 7-8 weeks so I would chase for that xx

Fleurchamp · 30/11/2014 10:33

Urgh. I spent most of the night on the bathroom floor.

We went out for dinner last night with friends (who have so guessed after I drove and didn't drink even when we were given champagne on the house).

Woke up after an hour with the most horrendous stomach pains, I threw up a few times and had awful diarrhoea. I am guessing it was the very rich meal but I feel so bad today and am now worrying whether bean is ok. Pains have now gone but I still feel nauseous.

7 + 1

ignominious · 30/11/2014 10:45

Broody and purple I'll swap you, ours got up at half four. Luckily it was DHs turn..

cheetarah · 30/11/2014 10:52

Hi Ladies, just checking in,
247, my booking apt has been scheduled for 13 weeks, so after my 12 wk scan. It's also my first pregnancy so I am finding it very stressful. I tried and failed to get it moved forward. Do you think I should give it another go? I did of course meet my GP to get the referral, but that discussion lasted all of 3 minutes it's so busy where I am.
Fleur we also had dinner with friends last night. Pretty sure DH outed me when he ordered me a pint of lime and soda very subtle!
I'm 6+3..

headlesschicken247 · 30/11/2014 11:26

cheetarah I wouldn't worry about moving your booking in appt. tbh all that will be done is a quick urine test and lots of questions about family history etc and the opp to ask questions. As long as you have a scan date that's the one that will reassure you most.

I've now got a scan date 30th dec!! Going to see if Ivan get a reassurance scan. At least it's only £60 at our hospital. Would like to known; xmas

naty1 · 30/11/2014 11:57

Three im also hoping for a consultant referral (thyroid) but as ive not seen mw and gp doesnt seem to have done it. (Not that ive specifically requested but gp does know and has upped my dose) will probably ask about it when they need to increase dose again from latest blood test.
Most important is first 12wks and itll be after that when i see someone.
