Had a rather un-original attempt at a new name! Hop across ladies!

want, I can definitely recommend NCT. Prepares you and dh for labour and birth that no other well meaning relative, friends or books can (IMO). An absolute lifeline for making new friends along this journey too - it's so important to have a network in place because things can be daunting in the early days and having friends in the same situation at the same time makes it much easier to deal with (well, it did for me anyway!) Our classes were midweek but at night, 7-9 I think, so no impact on work. Unless you work shifts of courseSmile

sarky, oh my, what an awful day you must've had with your mum. Lots of hugs and sympathies Thanks

broodylicious · 29/11/2014 17:42

Also re NCT - even if you don't do their classes, most branches run lovely groups once baby is here, with toys and stuff set out, sometimes "expert" speakers/guests come along, breastfeeding counselling/advice... And most importantly, tea and coffee and nice biscuits on tap! WinkSmile

StoneBaby · 29/11/2014 18:08

leela yes the more Ido, the more it hurts. Even my 15mn walk to work makes me crampy and scared

Sarkymare · 29/11/2014 18:10

Thanks broody,
My day just got better as I've finally had a poo!! I think I cheered louder than a footy fan!

Sorry to drag the thread back into the gutter Wink

broodylicious · 29/11/2014 18:32

Yay for the pooing triumph sarky Smile

Leela5 · 29/11/2014 18:43

Me too sarky! I feel much better!

broodylicious · 29/11/2014 18:46

Claps and hoorah for you too leelaSmile

NotPennysBoat · 29/11/2014 18:52

Thanks for the new thread - I can't keep up! I'm feeling really anxious at the moment, my nausea has pretty much gone and this is the point my last pregnancy stopped growing. Just hoping & praying really! Has anyone else's symptoms subsided at this point? I'm 7+1.

smallgreenbanana · 29/11/2014 18:57

I'm completely useless from mid-afternoon onwards due to nausea... This is causing some strain with DH who is trying his best, but it's a bit overwhelming for him with everything else that is going on at the moment.

Fx crossed for you NotPennysBoat

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 29/11/2014 19:28

sarky - well, she's a waste of time. Well done to you for keeping the relationship going.

notpenny - just take one day at a time. I know many women who hardly suffered at all, some who didn't feel anything.

Well, I tentatively proposed that DH go with baby to MIL's but that went down like a lead balloon. To be fair, a 10 hr round trip with a baby is not funsies whether you're the mum or the dad. I'm in denial that it's going to happen. There's no way we can just lie to her face with my belly all fat and me turning green when I smell meat.

itsnotthatdeep · 29/11/2014 19:45

dust I cant eat meat either I couldn't last time either.

anyway the fleas are sorted the cats are sorted and being rehomed on WednesdaySad but its for the best.
I have no energy and im not snacking either so I need to eat regularly or I feel wretched.

glad everyones news is staying postive too

im just sat here watching strictly and resting Wink as I've been out to a xmas lights switch on. ill ve glad of a night in my own bed

Romeolovesjuliet · 29/11/2014 19:57

Lots of chat to catch up with today! I've caught DD and DS's cold so together with the nausea I'm feeling crap. I did have a 1.5 hr nap earlier though!
We did NCT with DD and made some lovely friends. I would recommend trying to find out what the group size is likely to be though as there were only 5 couples in our group (unusually small I think) so it didn't leave much room for not getting on/people moving away etc. We ended up being really close to 2 couples though. Luckily when I had DS a few of my friends were also off having their second but I think might be a bit lonely this time around. Saying that, I will have an almost 2 yr old and a 3 yr old to keep me company!
On the poo side of things, let's just say fybogel is my best friend and leave it at that!

6+3

Sarkymare · 29/11/2014 19:58

I'm struggling to eat much of anything at the moment. I haven't had much nausea so far but when I eat my food sits just directly under my ribs in the centre which makes me feel quite ill. It subsides after about an hour though.

I'm just thankful the nausea is minimal. I wouldn't know how to cope if it was as bad as last time. That was bad enough when I could lay in bed all day in misery. With a almost 1 year old to look after I imagine it would be 10x worse.

broodylicious · 29/11/2014 20:03

penny, I can totally appreciate your fears, it's just the worst feeling not knowing what's going on in there. One of the ladies who I met thru here has had her 12 week scan this week and she had absolutely no symptoms whatsoever this time and was obvs v concerned that there'd be a mmc revealed.... But not so! She saw her healthy little bubba with his/her heart pumping away Smile Stay positive hun. Not long to go xxThanksThanks

Another meat avoider here. I remember heaving my stomach out last time when I was doing slow cooked beefConfused DH has just informed me we are having BBQ beef tonight and my tummy is not happy right now although I'll probably eat it because I seem to have developed an insatiable appetite today!

broodylicious · 29/11/2014 20:07

deep, glad the fleas are sorted. Good luck for Wednesday, I'm sure it'll be a hard day x

romeo, our NCT group consisted of nine couples and our teacher said she would only ever take up to ten because otherwise it becomes too impersonal/busy. They also cancel courses if they have less than five because it wouldn't be interactive enough. Definitely agree it's worth checking the local branch's policies.

Sarkymare · 29/11/2014 20:08

Ugh I haven't been able to eat anything with a BBQ sauce since my last pregnancy. I took one look/smell of it and heaved. Hunters chicken used to be my favourite dinner. I won't even eat that now.

Thepurplegiraffe · 29/11/2014 20:49

Three your DH sounds amazing!

Sarky I am the same. I am sick this time but not going the complete and constant misery of last time which is a massive relief with a 1 year old, when I'm not worrying about lack of symptoms. I am really struggling with food again though, meat is definitely an issue, but then so are most other things.

JoY007 · 29/11/2014 21:00

Hello - checking in, thanks miss for the new thread.

Busy Saturday, I was cranky as hell, snapped at DP all day Confused. Had back pains this morning from sitting through 3 hours of interstellar last night, then I had my first brown spot, but was only last night, all normal today, assume no cause for alarm? I am not sure if it was because I held my wee until after the movie... Could that have caused the brown smear/ spot?

Sarkymare · 29/11/2014 21:05

Brown has turned to red. Not bright red but red nevertheless Hmm the next 13 and a half hours are going to be slow.

Leela5 · 29/11/2014 21:14

:( sarky - stay positive. Fx for your scan, can you call epu tomorrow and see if they can bring it forward? I'll be thinking of you x

Leela5 · 29/11/2014 21:15

jo brown can just be old blood and spotting quite common in early pregnancy. If you're worried call your mw or epu. Fx it stays away x

Sarkymare · 29/11/2014 21:21

Leela- I have the very first available appointment. They gave me the earliest as I was due to return home tonight but the nurse asked me to stay until Sunday when the ultrasound techs came in and promised I will be seen as quickly as possible so I can travel home afterwards.

JoY007 · 29/11/2014 22:44

Fx sarky stay super positive Flowers.

Thanks leela I am trying not to fret, nothing at all today, but keeping a close eye.

Pipbin · 29/11/2014 23:10

Thinking of you tomorrow sarky

EnglishExpatUSA · 29/11/2014 23:31

missmorse I am in an identical boat to you! (You can probably guess from my screen name). I'm 8+3 with my first and we are also living in the USA (Colorado) at the moment. Where are you based? I scared myself watching the Ricki Lake documentary on childbirth in the US (much more medicalised apparently, 1 in 3 caesarean and pretty much everyone has pitocin and an epidural apparently). But I discussed it with my OB and she said there are lots of options and if I did want to go down an active/natural birth/midwife route those options are available, they're just not necessarily what the average American woman would choose. I have been really reassured by how great they've been so try not to worry Smile

I can also totally relate to feeling a little lonely. I'm not working out here so I'm on my own quite a lot. I've told my mum and it was a huge relief to be able to discuss with her over skype/phone. DH is amazing but sometimes you just need to talk to someone who has been through it! Whenever I get down or sad I look at pictures of my gorgeous little niece and remind myself that it's only 9 months (well, 7 now) and it will all be worth it when we have our gorgeous little (American!) babies in our arms!!

Are you planning to go home at all during your pregnancy? I don't think I will as the thought of spending 10 hours on the plane preggo doesn't appeal. I hope my mum will come out for the birth and as soon as he/she has arrived we will get baby's US passport fast-tracked and go straight home for a big celebration!
