Just had a chat with Lucy5 and we decided that the old thread was getting too long and taking forever to load so here's a new one for all of us.

Hope everyone's well, nothing to report from me, everything's going smoothly still so far.

Not long now until we get the first of the birth announcements!!

OP posts:

Don't worry, Diners, I didn't get the cleaning, nesting urge last time and dh is confident that it won't happen this time either

Diners · 06/10/2006 19:34

I am a suppressed cleaning freak as my house is like a building site and all i can see is dust and more decorating to be done. I do kinda clean but it doesnt really help. Very frustrating!

weirdbird · 06/10/2006 19:34

This isn't nesting / cleaning urge, this is a Agghhhhh my MiL is coming to visit tomorrow and our house looks like a hurricane has hit!!! PANIC

How can 1 small child create soooooo much mess!!!

Calmriver · 06/10/2006 20:27

WB-like I have put in the e-mail...wait till we have two!My dd is exactly the same,I can clean for hours on end and in a couple of hours it's back to the way it was.

What are you all having? I want to do another stats thing with the sex if you guys know.

As you know, I am having another girl..Thank goodness for all her clothes.

Redlorry75 · 06/10/2006 20:51

Evening everyone!

Is it me or is the tiredness thing really starting to kick in?

DiamondsAreForever · 06/10/2006 21:07

Redlorry- I have never been so tired in my life! I have reached a whole new level of tiredness!

Yes, please do a sex survey (babies, not us!)
I am expecting a boy (7th Dec)- although I am constantly dreaming it's a girl!
I also have a 14 month old dd who is fabulous.

OK, must go back to the mothercare sale- I am on the look out for a double buggy as well, although I haven't seen one I like at all so far. Wondering if I can get away with just a really big coat and tuck the two babes inside... I may not get very far however as have a really bad back from bodged epidural during dd's birth.

Redlorry75 · 06/10/2006 21:08

DAF - were you this tired when Pg with DD?

I was'nt when I had my DD, and after talking to friends am convinced this one is a boy - DH wont let me find out

Redlorry75 · 06/10/2006 21:10

All - I am on e-bay looking for those sleep suits what are legless and have gathered elastichems - what are they called?

DiamondsAreForever · 06/10/2006 21:27

Redlorry- yes, I was amazingly tired with dd but now with work and looking after her I am pooped. I actually can't believe that I'm still up!

Diners · 06/10/2006 22:08

I have been blaming my tiredness on running after an 18 month old i cant believe she is actually faster than me now little scamp!
Im expecting a boy on xmas day

Loulou000 · 07/10/2006 09:30

We're expecting (probably) a girl.

Diamonds, what happened with your epidural? How scary.

jabberwocky · 07/10/2006 13:45

Okay, here's the recipe!

Tea Cakes
Yields: 18 servings

INGREDIENTS:
4 eggs
1 cup butter flavored shortening
2 cups white sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
6 cups all-purpose flour

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Cream together eggs, butter, sugar and baking powder. Stir in the flour. Dough will be stiff.
  2. Shape in walnut sized balls and flatten with the bottom of a glass.
  3. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 8 minutes. If you brown them, you've overbaked them. These may also be rolled out and cut with cookie cutters.

Marshmallow Icing

? 1 1/2 cups white sugar
? 1/2 teaspoon distilled white vinegar
? 1/2 cup water
? 18 large marshmallows
? 2 egg whites
? 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
? 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

The icing recipe makes a lot so I usually only do a half recipe of icing. Or, you can do the whole recipe and freeze any left over icing.

To make the frosting, combine 1 1/2 cups sugar, vinegar, water and marshmallows. Mix well and place over a pot of simmering water. when the marshmallows have melted, stir in the egg whites. Remove from heat and beat with an electric mixer for 7 minutes. Stir in the vanilla and confectioners' sugar until well blended. Frost cooled cookies.

Diners · 07/10/2006 16:00

That sounds so lovely if only i had a cooker!

Calmriver · 07/10/2006 16:18

Oh my!...I think I might have to try these things!

bewilderbeast · 07/10/2006 22:26

I'm either vvery brave or very stupid. What woman in her right mind when 32 weeks pregnant and in the house on her own with the flu goes and follows three teenage thieves trying to break into her neighbours house in the freezing bloody cold with no coat. this baby has addled my brain.

Calmriver · 08/10/2006 08:57

What!!!!!!?????? BWB Would have probably done the same thing, my anger gets the better of me in those situations too. I think it's the hormones! We have teenage problems around here too as there is an estate not far away.

Talking about frustration, my DH got up at 5 this AM as our radio/clock alarm in the kitchen was going off, so he switched it off and threw it across the kitchen floor! WHAT A CHILD!!! I was so p'd off with him. I still don't want to look at him right now.

Calmriver · 08/10/2006 10:27

Am I cruel.?

We ran out of milk this morning, and DD wanted weetbix, so I have replaced the milk in the weetbix with apple juice...she seems happy though. I just feel awful, but I can't go next door to the shop in my pyjamas..

accessorizequeen · 08/10/2006 11:37

Glad to see the teacakes & milo thread still continuing, must get some milo from next tesco shop, it's scrummy. CR, am having another boy for your stats list.
Have had visitors all weekend & knackered although it has been v.nice, so have only just made it onto mnet. Now must rush out & find first....

jabberwocky · 08/10/2006 12:19

LOL, BWB, I can just imagine their faces as a hormone-crazed pg woman came rushing at them

bewilderbeast · 08/10/2006 14:02

I definately don't think they expected it. Especially not when I followed them up the road whilst very loudly giving descriptions of the little sods to the police. Am expecting my windows to be put through any minute now. Got some very funny looks from the police when they finally showed up too and a serious telling off from my other half when he got home. oops.

catkins1000 · 08/10/2006 14:44

Still only 29 weeks but panicking about everything today - haven't moved into new house yet, as still like building site with no kitchen or bathroom. Feeling so tired that our house is like a pig sty and I don't care (but I do really!) and have evil constipation even though drinking LOADS of boring water (as its the only thing I can face apart from hot milk) and eating mountains of fruit! Its so unfair!! Anyway, rant over for the day, might go and have some Dairy Milk and try to calm down..... Makes me feel so much better reading everyones posts as somedays you just feel like its only you that feels like this and no one else quite understands!!

Baretoes · 08/10/2006 16:03

Thank you for including me on the du date list - you have me and my new ID right .

You lot are menaces!! I was doing an on-line order for Tescos and I've now ended up with additional teac cakes, iced gems and a First Magazine .

Sorry I haven't been on for a while but it's lovely to hear how you're all doing. I've got the same insomnia, weeing all night and thrashing around with pillows problem. I did buy a maternity pillow (very long pillow that you hug all night!) from Blooming Marvellous last week and that has really helped!

I am bing cajoled in to doing more DIY this weekend and I'm really struggling. My bump is feeling too bloated to welcome any physical work - or perhaps I am just lazy?!

Oh YES! There is a live birth on the TV tonight at 8pm - can't remember what channel - one of the normal ones.

Beakysmum · 08/10/2006 19:30

Hi Becs21 if you are there...... how are you? How was scan?

Redlorry75 · 08/10/2006 19:53

Hey All

I found my bump a legless babygro in Pumpkin Patch today - I do love thier clothes!

And found more in Mothercare should I happen to like using it.

Now does anyone know where to buy a neutral colour security blanket with silky side - as thats what DD would like to get bump as a welcome present?

Redlorry75 · 08/10/2006 19:56

BTW - Live birth on Channel 5 at 8.00 tonight - how can it be live and scheduled??? She might have had it or it might take hours
