Just had a chat with Lucy5 and we decided that the old thread was getting too long and taking forever to load so here's a new one for all of us.

Hope everyone's well, nothing to report from me, everything's going smoothly still so far.

Not long now until we get the first of the birth announcements!!

judemum · 04/10/2006 13:07

hello- this is obviously an old thred so I hope I can crash it. Nice to find some mums that are expecting same time as me- 15th Dec. Feeling quite huge (this is second baby boy) and not easy to sleep, as get hip ache and dh complains about me turning over accompanied by paraphernalia of pillows etc. Following your discussion about eating healthily is that I can only say that am now going to leave my desk in search of second lunch. first one has not touched the sides!

Devongirl · 04/10/2006 13:08

Hello everyone

I am very up for mutual encouragement to eat healthy - I weighed myself at midwife's yesterday and have put on 2 1/2 stone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is that the most out of all of us?

I am determined to only eat fruit between meals and stop adding in extra bowls of cereals here and there, and no little kitkats that tend to creep into my lunch box every day. I had a struggle a few years ago losing weight as I was a big girl, and have kept it up for years, so really don't want to put on too much more now. Let's devise a plan for helping each other out, please

x

You got my date right but either my bump is hiding a giant or the many people who have asked me if i'm sure it's a december baby are right!
At MW appointment yday, found out have gained 9.5 kilos. This is my first so don't have anything to compare to, certainly all seems to be sitting in my bump!

judemum · 04/10/2006 13:59

I've put on nearly 2 stone, but two months to go yet and am quite confident I will exceed the 2.5 stone I put on with DS. Nothing you can do about it though. My philosophy is just accept it and enjoy being able to scoff- next summer is the time to get knickers in twist about flabby buttocks and bulging thighs etc!

Loulou000 · 04/10/2006 14:05

I am too scared to weigh myself, devongirl, but must have put on at least that now. I don't think I eat too unhealthily, it's just the sheer volume!

Was thinking of starting raspberry leaf about now and I'm 28 weeks. I have friends who took it even earlier and had easy peasy labour. But I know officially you're not meant to take it yet. Hmm.

Gloria42 · 04/10/2006 14:05

Judemum, i think it's the benefit of a winter baby - lost of time to get the weight off before summer!!!!

Baconbaps · 04/10/2006 15:27

Ooh I'm on the list! I'm getting excited now about meeting the bab - am 30 weeks tomorrow - but trying not to panic about the thought of giving birth. I have done it twice before but with such a big gap it's like starting all over again.

I'm with you all about the night time fun and games. It takes me ages to get to sleep, bab is dancing about on my cervix, up at least twice for the loo, and turning over is a mammoth task. At least I have the bed to myself though and I suppose we should get used to the sleepless nights!

I've only been weighed once at my booking in visit and as I don't own any scales I have no idea how much weight I've gained. I might ask the midwife to weigh me at the next visit as I'm curious. I was overweight before getting pg though so I've got long way to go to lose it all.

Sorry to hear you failed the test CR. Better luck next time. I hoped to take my test before the baby comes but can't afford it. I hope I get to do it before my theory certificate runs out though!

softymom · 04/10/2006 15:31

Olihan - my dates are right. I'll be delighted if the little blighter turns up on time.

mmmm. All this talk of junk food. I was eyeing up the pork scratchings in the supermarket this week but decided I didn't want dd to share them with me so couldn't really get them. Our local mini mart has just closed down so no access to junk food for me now. - minor pregnancy complaint really.

I put on 10kg with dd. On dd's 1st birthday I was 20kg less than I weighed the week before she was born .

Don't have scales so I don't know what I'm at now. Too scared to ask the mw to weigh me

Calmriver · 04/10/2006 15:58

Baconbaps- Tell me about it! It's cost us £700 so far and I now need to do some mre lessons to keep it fresh and have the test fee too!OUTRAGEOUS!

Sleep!Aching hips!!Toilet trips and refills of water! Thats my night!
I drank 3 pints during last night and obviously was on the loo every time I got up to get water. Not having a pleasant time of it either.

My DD(2 years 1 month) is walking around my lounge with our baby bjorn on her front with her doll in it. Think I'm going to have to get her one!!!

Calmriver · 04/10/2006 16:03

I have just had an apple and some grapes as my snack after a veggie delite honey oat roll from Subway. They are low in fat and stuffed with salady things!mmm! I am so cravng a bowl of oats and a hot milo! Will save the milo for bed time. Keep it up you guys...everytime you see something nice and want it, think of all of us going throught the same thing!

Loulou000 · 04/10/2006 16:17

Mmmm, porridge! How much I want a bowl of porridge now. Surely it's good for my LO...

judemum · 04/10/2006 16:45

well I had a fairly virtuous cheese sandwich for lunch and a very virtuous packet of organic pumpkin seeds for lunch and then spoiled it by inhaling large slab of victoria sponge and two chocolate digestives.

weirdbird · 04/10/2006 18:41

Had porridge for breakfast with homemade Plum jam

Have found this helps me not to snack later on

Had leftover lasagne for lunch with a Mango for pudding.

Succumbed to one Tea Cake so far....

emzickle · 04/10/2006 18:45

how are you ladies doing? Im due in a week... getting scared...

Elibean · 04/10/2006 19:02

A week! Good luck, emzickle

Eating today: wheetabix and small piece of brown toast for breakfast, risotto for lunch (was out with dh, dd, and neice - yum), succumbed to three squares of praline choc afterwards (bad move, itched immediately and for hours). Just had raw carrot. Not bad, but can't take much credit as lurgy has removed appetite, and I seem to itch all evening and twice as much after I eat - a new and not exciting pg symptom

I was on steroids first 12 weeks of pregnancy, and put on a stone - a stone! - in that time, and 8lbs since, making a total of 22lbs. Less than with dd, which is cause for celebration...look out chocolate...
Mind you, I was underweight before that pg, plus had excess fluid which brought my total gain up to almost 3 stone at the very end

Lucy, hurrah for the sleep - am going to try for some of the same tonight: makes such a difference, doesn't it? Hope you get more!

Elibean · 04/10/2006 19:04

Forgot (story of my life these days!) to say hi and welcome new people

And maroon, glad re your scan and your mother both...dh's aunt just had a mastectomy and is doing brilliantly a few days later, but its quite something to go through. Wishing her a speedy recovery.

Calmriver · 04/10/2006 19:42

Dinner, pasta(spinach pasta)broccoli, some green beans, couple of little peices of carrots, ham and cheese grated over it all!!

Hungry again now though....ooooh! Thinking of peanut butter toast and milo, BUT!>>>>>

Olihan · 04/10/2006 19:44

CR, i'm sure I'm being thick but what's milo? I can't get an image of you taking a huge bite into the small purple tweenie out of my head .

OP posts:
Elibean · 04/10/2006 19:53

same image, Olihan.

Calm, you have eaten scarily healthily today. Wanna come over and tackle some low fat Chocolate Fudge Brownie Frozen Yoghurt? Its almost sinless but makes you feel like you've pigged out

weirdbird · 04/10/2006 20:23

Have been almost good again, omelette for dinner with onions, mushrooms & peppers Yum

Had a 2nd Tea cake

Calmriver · 04/10/2006 20:50

WOW! That brownie yoghurt sounds AMAZING! In case none of you know, I am South African and we have a chocolate drink(fortified vitamins in it-like Horlicks or ovaltine) except much nicer and very close to hot chocolate...Have a look in Sainsbury's,Tesco's Spars etc...It's really good! In a green tin,and all the staff know what it is! I used to have it with water and a bit of milk, but now going full on with the milk. You can also have it in cold milk...thats how we always had it as kids and DH LOVES it like that!

I would probably not have eaten this well, had I been to the shops today!I have nothing to 'nice' in my cupboards, so peanut butter on hot toast is making my mouth water...

Will be interested to see how long we can all hold this up for.

Are we all going to meet up before the babies are born?or when they are here?

Calmriver · 04/10/2006 20:51

Now I'm going to ask...what the hec is a tea cake? Sounds nice as it has the word cake attached!

Olihan · 04/10/2006 20:57

Thanks for that CR, won't worry about the purple one now .It sounds lovely - does it help you sleep? Would be nice to be able to justify consuming extra chocolate products!!

A teacake is a roll sort of thing with currants in that you toast and have with lots of butter and jam...mmmmmmmmmm . Obviously a pot of tea too!

Or there's Tunnocks tea cakes which are biscuit base with a bit of marshmallow on top and covered in chocolate. TBH they're a bit sickly for me.

OP posts:
accessorizequeen · 04/10/2006 21:02

Oooh, milo and teacakes mmmm. Don't think teacakes actually that fattening if you don't slather with butter. Just, um, buns with raisins in but not sugary, gosh I don't know I only just discovered them as they do them in the cafe downstairs at work. Now, Milo on the other hand, is also popular in Oz where I'm from, and I too used to drink it with cold milk except we'd put about 6 spoonfuls in and wait till it floated to the top. God, I want some now. Have just eaten six of the choc pumpkins I bought as special treat for ds for halloween (why did I think they would last until end of month much less end of week????). Potato gnocchi with homemade tomato sauce for lunch + peas & corn, then ds & I made macaroni cheese for dinner but I made sure to leave space for the choc pumpkins
