Loving the name talk :) all mentioned names are lovely! I'm still loving Hayden for a girl, OH wasn't keen but is coming round now! We haven't agreed on any names but both like cian, kayla, aiden, I love Carter for a boy but OH hates it with surname cod it sounds too much like another name/person!

lotsoftoast · 27/11/2014 20:42

Gudgy - I know a toddler Lucia and her name has always been pronounced correctly so I wouldn't worry too much.

My bump has a name and we call her by her name - I just hope she looks like it when she appears!!

Emily I adore the name Beth too but my husband doesn't like it. Love George too. My cousin is pregnant and having a little girl. Her amazing dad who died a few years ago was called George and she is naming her little girl Georgia. I cried so much when she told me! Bloody hormones.

I love hearing about peoples name ideas. Bertie is very cute and I like Alexander and Matilda.

DP suggested Lucia but I said no because of possible problems with pronunciation. I do really like it though. Rose was one I suggested but DP thinks it's too similar to my mum's name. Perhaps we could use it as a middle name.

keeper do you know where you got the decal from? There are lots on amazon just not sure on size and if they are removable or permanent!

Love that wall decal zyla partly why I am thinking to wait until we know the team so I can choose girly or boy stuff that is cute! Not that Winnie the Pooh isn't

Great name suggestions hettie is very cute! We are procrastinating too, I find the decision has lots of responsibility and hard not having met them yet. But I like Olivia rose (rose after my nan) and Jackson Daniel, a few others on the list but it's not a long list!

Have started to buy some things mainly because the sales are on! Got a cot off trademe this week second hand a good NZ made brand that ppl have recommended, 800 dollars brand new and we got it for 200 - so pleased! Can't wait to move and get it all set up :)

M27J5M · 28/11/2014 09:04

Rainbow the decals stick firmly and if heated with a hairdryer peel off wall easily with minimum damage! When I took DS's down I think I only had bother with 1 outta 6

Had some bad news yesterday :( my cousins gf fell pregnant just before me, but lost the baby pretty early. She then got pregnant again quite quick. She's had regular scans due to the mc, she's gotten to 14 weeks and had another scan this week. Now theyve told her the baby has downs and a lot of other big problems, and they dont know if baby's going to make it. She's having the amniotic testing soon, but theyve told her they probably wont be able to tell her much more until 20 weeks, if the baby lives that long.

My cousins gf is a mess :( she doesnt know what to do for the best. Even if the baby makes it, it wont have any quality of life at all, the doctor said. Such a horrible position. Its such a wanted and tried for baby, just horrible.

My cousin works on the oil rigs just off Aberdeen, and cant get home to be with her. I'm wary about offering support, not sure my ever growing bump will be much of a consolation for her. Horrible horrible horrible.

persepolis123 · 28/11/2014 11:25

Oh gudgy that's just dreadful news Sad How heartbreaking for them to have to deal with this and try to decide what to do for the best. I really don't know what I would do in that situation.

coastergirl · 28/11/2014 12:45

Ah Gudgy, that's awful for you and for them. What a horrible situation to be in.

It's not the same, but when I was about 14 weeks, our best friends had their second ectopic pregnancy, leaving her without any fallopian tubes, so unable to have kids without IVF. They desperately wanted a baby, and ours wasn't really planned. We just felt so guilty, it seemed so unfair.

Really hope you're ok x

Guntons · 28/11/2014 13:34

Sorry to hear that sad news Gudgy. A very difficult situation, thoughts with you xx

Can I ask, is anyone having a glucose tolerance test? I think its 28 weeks but my next mw appt is at 28 wks & then she has to refer me.

Ive just reactivated my Facebook account after 6 months without! Can someone please let me know how to join the FB group for this thread, many thanks.

We have decided (I think) on a name for this our 2nd boy... he will be Cohen Nicholas. Nicholas after my uncle, Cohen because its really the only name we agree on that goes with our surname! I loved it from day 1 but DH needed a bit of persuading. Our eldest is called Hayden John, I think they go together nicely...Hayden and Cohen.

Hope everyone is feeling ok today. Ive just seen the footage of the 'Black Friday' crowds and mayhem on the news, looks horrendous, I'm glad I stayed home!

M27J5M · 28/11/2014 14:47

Sorry to hear that gudgy! So sad, must be hard for them!

Guntons of you pm me your email address I'll send you invite for fb

fishfingerSarnies · 28/11/2014 16:34

Yes glucose test will be at next mw appointment in jan some time so I'm guessing that's 28 weeks. Where do they refer you? they just do it there at my hospital you get a lucozade to drink and then an hour later have blood test, can't remember if we had a proper midwife appointment too but I'm guessing yes as wont have seen one since 16 weeks.

MrsAmelia · 28/11/2014 17:03

Gudgy that's really sad news.

MrsAmelia · 28/11/2014 17:11

Ladies, I haven't been on in ages, but I need some advice.

I'm 26+5 today and since yesterday i've felt nauseous, achy and my stomach (the baby part) hurts. I can't sit easily as my coccyx (spell?) hurts quite a bit and sleeping is eluding me. I've also lost my appetite completely.
Why am I nauseous? Why can't I get comfortable?

The baby is moving all of the time, so things with him/her are fine, I hope. I feel like utter crap though.

Further, my tummy is so tight and I know it's stretching, but it's gotten REALLY painfully tight. I put lotion and creams on two times a day and the skin is silky smooth, but it's just feeling like so much pressure is coming from there.

I am a teacher and got to school today thinking I could tough it out, but I had to leave school at 10:45 because I was so nauseous I couldn't speak.

Is it something so stupid and simple as indigestion and/or gas? I was on a Trans Atlantic flight a three days ago so I could attend a conference. I know I ate more meat than usual (I was Stateside) so maybe that is the upset stomach? But why nausea?

Any ideas? I literally hurt and I am so uncomfortable...

Thanks...

DurhamRed · 28/11/2014 17:20

Hi Guntons I'm having the glucose tolerance test at the end of December at the antenatal clinic. The appointment letter said that the whole appointment will take up to 2.5 hours...definitely will be bringing a book!

Fish I get seen every 3 weeks by my mw for regular bp checks, however next week is apparently a big appointment for my 25 week check up...I think at this one they check everything inc measurements...though not sure. Does anyone know what happens at the 25 week mw appointment??

coastergirl · 28/11/2014 17:30

Durham I had my 24 week appointment today, so I'm guessing the 25 week one is similar. They tested my urine, blood pressure, measured my bump and listened to baby's heartbeat, as well as asking general questions about how I am and about movements. It was pretty straight forward.

How is your HG these days? Hope it's better.

DurhamRed · 28/11/2014 17:53

Hi coaster thanks for the info, its good to know what will happen at the appointment. How were your measurements, hope all was OK.

My hg is getting better thankfully, still nauseous but managing to eat and drink OK and starting to put on weight, so I'm happy. I'm back at work too after 4 months off sick. On reduced hours at the moment but will be returning full time on 8th December... Still struggling with travel sickness so driving to work has been a bit of an issue on occasion!

fishfingerSarnies · 28/11/2014 17:58

Think you only get 24/25 week appointment if your first time mum (they said I could book one if I wanted) sure it's just the same as all the others wee, heartbeat, they might start measuring bump.

Do people know when you're supposed to start counting the kicks? Not that I'm going to count more just be aware.

Got woken last night in the most horrific tummy and back pain, I couldn't move really scary as I couldn't even reach my phone and was on my own with a 2 year old in the house. it lasted about 20 mins then disappeared. Very odd, was having all sorts of hedious imaginings.

coastergirl · 28/11/2014 18:07

That's great that you're back at work! Must be a relief.

My measurements were fine, they didn't tell me what they were but they said they were fine. All looking good so far. I mentioned that I had period-type pains last night though and she said to get checked out if I have them again.

Rainbow555 · 28/11/2014 19:03

mrsA I don't know for sure but nausea has returned too. Mw said that can happen and if it does most likely will be around until the end Shock

Also i can feel and rubbish when I have been a bit constipated, after certain foods or if tired! So I guess there could be lots of reasons why you feel like this. Especially if bump is having a growth spurt! Last night I felt so stretch it was horrid.

Perhaps try taking something in case of indigestion? And rest up? As all say if worried though call midwife
Hope it improves!

DurhamRed · 28/11/2014 19:08

Glad all was OK coaster albeit the period type pains!

3isthemajicnumber · 28/11/2014 20:49

rainbow I'm not thrilled to hear that your midwife said nausea can come back and last til the end. I've been feeling really queasy this afternoon!
fish I was told that you need to look out for movement every day from 24 weeks on.
