Hey all.

Sorry to hear about those cramping - really hope it eases off soon! Hmm

So after not being able to get a doctors appointment yesterday and no longer being able to eat or drink for the past few days my mum popped in after work to see me. She's a nurse at a hospital 10 mins away.

She took one look at me, put me in the car and drove me to get seen. I was dehydrated and the lovely staff
put me on a drip with some cyclizine. That was about 6:30pm and it made me really sleepy so my mum took me home and stayed with me.

I dozed for about an hour and then woke up and fell asleep again until 10. Had some fruit and a drink. Then asleep again all the way through until now.

I do feel a bit better. I hate using hospital resources but I really don't blame people nowadays when I couldn't get a doctors appointment or even a phone call for a week!

Hopefully today will be a better day. Smile

Bubaloo - glad to hear you're feeling better now.

Thanks all for the reassurance. I think it goes to show you worry whatever! Roll on second trimester....

MrsExtraOrdinary · 01/11/2014 08:39

Poor you buba hope you are feeling better today. I've got to starve for my spline/stomach scan later. Why is it im now Hungary when I've not eaten properly for weeks.

Gr33dyeggs · 01/11/2014 08:44

Morning all!
Emz - I've had cramping occasionally around 6 and 7 weeks but as a PP said I think it's more constipation. If it is unbearable I would go to A & E this weekend.

Bubalou, glad you're feeling a bit better!

Thanks for the advice ladies, I've got a GP appt Thursday. Might ask about prescription exemption then or is it too soon? Every little helps right?!

Phryn · 01/11/2014 08:53

Hope you're feeling better Buba - yay for mums! Sounds like a totally bonafide use of NHS resources there - you've paid your contribution in over the years and if anything catching it early will save the nhs money so don't feel too bad.

Good luck with the scans today MrsE and with making both of them (did you manage to change any timings). Sod's law with the hunger! Hopefully it'll stick around and let you eat later.

My scan is at 11:30. Prayers/positive thoughts/good vibes much appreciated. I'm torn between feeling very scanxious in my thinking (what if there's no heart beat/another problem/all in my head/a molar pregnancy/tiny and therefore I'm about to miscarry Confused). But I KNOW this pregnancy feels very different to last time.

  • Pretty much constant nausea
  • Boobs still sore and full
  • No spotting and an increase in creamy cm
  • No cramps per say just stretching sensations
  • My HCG and progesterone were good when measured on CD 16
Just really want to know now... am quietly hopeful all will be well.
bubalou · 01/11/2014 09:12

Thanks all. Smile

Can't believe how unwell we all are.

Just need to keep pressing on for the 2nd trimester and hopefully feeling ALOT better!!!

Thanks
JennyOfOldstones · 01/11/2014 09:13

Good luck today Phryn and MrsE sending good vibes!

Buba that is great that your mum got you some treatment, mums are the best!

Gr33dy I got a card through the post for my free prescriptions and dental treatment. It lasts until the baby is 1 I think which is pretty good!

MrsExtraOrdinary · 01/11/2014 09:41

Phryn the very best of luck to you this morning. No luck on moving either scan so it's a wing and a prayer I'll get to both. Wink They are both aware so as long as the first isn't running late should be ok.

sparkle17 · 01/11/2014 09:48

Good luck for your scans today ladies.

Sounds like you have a great mum bubalu

phryn and mrsE good luck today, keeping everything crossed for you both.

Emz congrats and welcome... As others have said cramping is quite normal but if it is accompanied by pain either one sided or in the shoulder tip or any bleeding get yourself to a & e straight away. Hopefully it's just one of those things we have to deal with in early pregnancy will keep everything crossed for you.

buba really glad to hear your mum has stepped in and got you seen, hope you continue to improve over the next few days.

sun enjoy your meal tonight, glad you have managed to avoid suspicion, long may it continue!

Had my booking in app yesterday and was pleased to hear I'm not as fat as I thought I was! ( I avoid scales at all costs) BMI was lower than expected too was very happy to hear that! Grin

PerpetualStudent · 01/11/2014 09:58

Good luck for those having scans today! And sorry for those of you having cramps - I've been getting what I think of as two types of cramps - one on the sides of my low abdomen, like stretchy aches and sometimes twangs and twings if I get up too quickly. And the other's more like a deeper central ache.
From my obsessive googling it seems like both are normal - ligament stretching and uterus growing - but it still makes me nervy!

Am desperately counting the days until my 12 week scan (2 weeks on Tuesday) feels like an age!

Emz1989 · 01/11/2014 09:59

Thanks for your replies. Hubby wanted to phone 999 last night, so glad I put him off. About 30mins of squirming about and then it totally passed. I think ectopic is always at the front of my mind when cramping, but this pain was very low and central and have read that ectopic pain would normally be situated on one side. I seem to get a bout of pain every 3-4 days, although DH seems to have worked out that it's always after I've had a bath. I'm making sure the baths aren't too hot but now I'm concerned that bathing is causing problems. Maybe I'll stick to showering.... Wow doesn't being pg consume all your thoughts? Im a totally paranoid madwoman. Have only told very few people in rl (mum and sisters) so don't feel like I have many people to chat to.... Great to have found mn xx

TheDetective · 01/11/2014 11:37

Iwant I had cramps in my second pregnancy, but not my first or this one (so far!).

Gr33dy I applied for mine before I was even 4 weeks Grin. It took about 2 weeks to come through. I wanted mine early as I might have needed a lot of anti sickness medication, and it would have been very expensive without it!

6+4, still going strong. No vomiting. Some nausea. I can barely believe it if I don't get it this time. My two boys made me terribly ill. Maybe this one is a girl. I'm kinda hoping for a boy though as my little one will be sharing with this baby for a long time. So two boys would be easier! Sod's law it will be girl though!

I've still not told any of our parents. I don't want to. My mum doesn't react well to pregnancy. Mine, or anyone elses. Hmm She is well known for her negative reactions. I'm fairly certain she has never congratulated anyone on their pregnancies. Hmm

My dad reacted last time by asking who the dad was. I'd been with DP for 2.5 years ffs!!!!

So yeah, I can't be bothered. Might never tell either of them!

MrsExtraOrdinary · 01/11/2014 12:02

Detective do you think your parents reaction is coloured by the fact you were young first time around? Because I think this is my problem. The thought of telling my parents just turns my stomach. Thank goodness we have each other to here to be excited for each other.

TheDetective · 01/11/2014 12:12

My mum has been the way she is since before my first! She just never liked babies! She really doesn't like kids til they are 4 Hmm.

My dad isn't that interested either.

Basically they had me. Then when I was 9 they split up. Then neither went on to have more children. My dads wife never had children. So I just think the whole thing is alien to them. It's been 30 years since they had a baby...!

They've forgotten I suspect...

MrsExtraOrdinary · 01/11/2014 12:24

Parents are strange beings aren't they! I think my parents view is also coloured by struggling to have a family themselves. Dm had 4mc prior to having my dsis. She lost babies at 12,16,8&12 weeks. The 16 week one was the most traumatic. So instead of the usual excitement it's sort of tinged with omg you're going to be poorly, how will you cope. And also as my mum is stuck up she finds such a large family embarrassing. She didn't understand at all my need to have a baby with new husband. She definitely won't understand a second.

Alisvolatpropiis · 01/11/2014 12:33

Have discovered today I can't have got stone massages during pregnancy. Feeling a bit sulky about it (first world problem, I know).

Alisvolatpropiis · 01/11/2014 12:33

*hot

MrsExtraOrdinary · 01/11/2014 12:47

Oh that's a shame, but you can still have a normal massage after 12 weeks I believe. And endless amounts of pedicures! Wink

Alisvolatpropiis · 01/11/2014 13:17

Apparently the place I go to will only do pregnancy massages after first trimester no normal treatments. This is fine though!

I'm having an unfortunate day. I really want eggs. Eggs make me vomit, almost immediately. Unfair!

MrsExtraOrdinary · 01/11/2014 14:15

Oh dear Ali, how about a chocolate egg instead? I went through i short lived egg craving right at the beginning. Not sure I could stomach that now. Mini cheddars are my new friend, Smile

Alisvolatpropiis · 01/11/2014 14:46

I'm not massively into chocolate at the moment, or indeed sweet things in general.

I do love mini cheddars though!

Bar the eggs, which I think I just fancy eating rather than am actually craving, I've just got food aversions.

Eggs and chicken feature on the no list.

VintageCherry26 · 01/11/2014 14:55

Going through the same Ali, I'm having no cravings but have a loooong list of aversions. Struggling quite a bit!
