Thanks cuppa i was quite concerned! Whats everyone got planned this weekend? Ive got my mum and niece coming for the weekend Smile

omama · 21/11/2014 08:41

Hey ladies.

Still in hospital so not caught up on all the thread fully. Hope you are all ok & not suffering the effects of the last few weeks of pregnancy too badly!

There is a woman in the room next to me screaming as I type. Shock makes me think perhaps a section wasn't such a bad option after all!

DD is a real dinky dot, she's almost 2 days old & still not really woken up for a feed yet. Been given one of those fab medela pumps to use to establish my supply so hoping she will take to it soon. Been here nearly a week & ready to go back home!

Good luck to you all ladies - you will have your beautiful babba's soon!x

Lucy I'm measuring 4 weeks ahead! I have a consultant appointment on Monday and probably a scan to discuss my size. Midwife thinks the baby feels very long (not surprising given the height of her father) but hinted that they may not let me go over my due date if she's enormous. They didn't worry when I was a week or two over-only when i had a sudden growth spurtShock

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 21/11/2014 10:05

Hug I'm 3 weeks ahead too, but when I asked the bitch midwife yesterday if they'd let me go to due date she said yes, definitely Hmm I said HOW WILL IT GET OUT?! And that's when she decided she knew better than the scan estimates and that baby wouldn't get as big as they say. I feel like I want to be induced at 39 weeks just out of pure fear that it won't get out if it grows anymore, but need to find someone supportive to talk to about it!

When I say yesterday I mean Wednesday. I feel jet lagged Grin

It seems like every midwife has different opinions peace. I'll let you know what the consultant says on Monday but at the moment I'm working on the basis that we're all different shapes and sizes so our babies will be too. I really can't see how a tape measure can accurately predict the size of a baby. It may just be more fluid-although apparently my little beastie does feel long too. Long can still mean a small head and shoulders though .
Hope the journey was ok.

Roonerspism · 21/11/2014 11:04

Thing is - when your milk comes in, your boobs go huuuuuge and rock hard and it settles within a week or so.

So I think buying a bra when milk is in is poor advice. I did that last time and ended up with bras waaaay too big.

I going to get mine about 38/39 weeks.

I quite like the bra tops though. Nice and loose on sore boobs and you can just yank them up to feed :)

Peace - I think the tape measure thing also depends if you are lying flat or slightly up. A good MW will do it the same way each time

Lucy90 · 21/11/2014 11:26

Thanks for the reassurance ladies! Seen midwife and baby is back on track at 36!

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 21/11/2014 12:45

Idk what my tape measure measurements are - this midwife was poo-pooing the actual growth scan measurements Confused

Cuppachaplz · 21/11/2014 14:31

peace do you have a birth choices clinic! or a consultant MW? Ask to talk to them.
Growth scans can be pretty inaccurate, and fungus height even more so. With Jacob I was measuring 10w behind, and he was on the 85th centile!
Sounds like you really need to discuss your options with someone with more time and sensitivity. Early sweeps are far nicer than early induction btw.

Trace ok in the end :)
Back tomorrow, but don't have to cancel my planned weekend with a friend. Yay! GrinGrinGrinGrin

Moan time because it's midnight but I'm wide awake. The baby is enjoying pressing into the mattress with (I think) it's hands, but when I roll over to stop it, it rolls over with me Hmm

My back hurts and I think I'm hungry, but going downstairs feels like descending a mountain at the moment.

Just want this to be over.

peace - I'm thinking of keeping emergency snacks by the bed for middle of the night emergencies such as you describe. Trouble is I know myself and the emergency rations won't last longer than night one... Grin
